Abstract

The Topo Da'a Community is one of Central Sulawesi's Remote Traditional Communities (KAT). It is a community that usually lives from place to place in the mountain forests and settles outside the forest. Topo Da'a settlements are spread along the slopes of the Kamalisi mountains, both in the lowlands and highlands in the hills. Living in an area different from your place of origin influences the spatial pattern and form of residence—especially those who live in the lowlands near the city center. The research problem is what the settlement pattern of the community looked like when they moved and then settled and the factors that influenced these changes. This research aims to identify the spatial characteristics of the Topo Da'a settlement in the lowlands, especially those living near the city center, and the changes that occur. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods. The sources of information are the traditional Totua of Topo Da'a Kalora and Lekatu, community leaders, residents of Topo Da'a Kalora in Kalora Village and Lekatu in Tipo sub-district.The information units are physical and non-physical data obtained through interviews and participant observation. Meanwhile, the units of observation are housing units, residential patterns, and social, economic, and cultural activities. Sample collection and determination were carried out using purposive sampling using the snowball sampling technique. There were around 15 informants interviewed in this research. The analysis technique used is inductive analysis. Descriptive data is analyzed according to its content (content analysis). The research results changed from a grouping pattern based on family kin groups around Bantaya to groups oriented towards the road (linear pattern). Factors forming residential patterns are kinship ties, the philosophy of Topo Da'a, Bantaya, and shared interaction spaces.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Eco-enzyme is a solution of complex organic substances produced by the fermentation process of leftover organic waste, water and molasses. So that organic waste that has been thrown away and is no longer used can be used as an environmentally friendly product. This eco-enzyme solution has a dark brown color and a strong sour aroma. This research focuses on making eco-enzyme solutions from organic waste from fruit and vegetables. The results of this research show that a good eco-enzyme has a dark brown color, a fresh sour aroma typical of fermentation and has a stable pH with a pH of 4.0, indicating that the eco-enzyme produced is acidic which has benefits such as preventing radiation, clearing water channels, cleaning floors, disinfecting organic etc. Keyword : Domestic Indutry, Eco Enzyme, Dasa Wisma.

Abstract

Affordable housing subsidised by the government in Indonesia often poses many problems, including an uncomfortable internal environment that leads to the massive use of mechanical ventilation. Designing an affordable house undoubtedly faces challenges due to the very small building lots, while it should provide many spatial needs and functions for the occupants’ daily activities. Because of limited funding provided by the government, affordable house design is often based only on basic needs, thus scarcely considering thermal comfort for the occupants. This study evaluates the thermal performance of affordable houses built for the 2018 great earthquake, tsunami, and liquefaction victims in Palu’s coastal area. Field measurements were conducted in an affordable housing complex, and a sample house was selected, representing a raised floor house design prototype. External and internal climate conditions were recorded for nine days to establish the hourly thermal trend. Hobo Onset H21 microclimate stations were used to record external climate conditions, whereas Onset Hobo U12-012 T-RH-Light was employed to record internal thermal conditions. The result showed that the thermal condition in the sample house was intolerably hot. The main cause of these conditions is the design of the roof and building envelope. The selected materials with a high U-value also worsen the thermal conditions in the sample house

Abstract

Topo Da’a is one of sub-ethnic of Kaili tribe in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. This Isolated Traditional Community or Komunitas Adat Terpencil (KAT) originally is nomadic people who live in Kamalisi mountain forest area. Generally, this society live in mountain area either in highland area, mountain slope, or lowland area. Topo Da’a Lekatu settlement is the only settlement of Topo Da’a that located in Palu city administrative region. This settlement is in lowland area that near from central area of Palu city. Aim of this study is to know how adaptation strategy and community survival ability against climate change environment around their living area from inside the mountain forest area with low temperature then live in lowland area the near the center of the city with high temperature. Qualitative method with phenomenological approach applied in this research. Data collection is purposive sampling with snowball sampling technique. Data analysis is inductive with three steps of selection or reduction, which are phenomenological reduction, eidetic reduction, and transcendental reduction. The research results found that the main factors of survival were economic factors and customs. Apart from that, the settlement location is close to schools and markets. Meanwhile, the adaptation strategy is to adjust to different climates, by creating relaxing or gathering space outside their house and sometimes they sleep in the farm that located on the mountain.
