Abstract

Abstract

Abstract The term "Fatigue Index" refers to the rate at which the athlete's power output decreases during a high-intensity performance, which can provide information on the athlete's anaerobic capacity. This study aims to understand better student university's physical performance and fatigue index after mid-semester at the department of sports education, university of Riau. This quantitative descriptive study uses survey methods with test and measurement techniques. The sampling technique in this study used a purposive sampling technique with a total of twenty five third-semester students (age: 19.36 years; height: 169.88cm; weight: 61.92 kg). The fatigue index instrument is Repeat Anaerobic Ability (RSA) test involving 10X30 meters performed every 30 seconds. The measurement results obtained that one student had an excellent category of fatigue index, eight students had a good category, average categories belonged to fifteen students, and Poor categories belonged to one student. As a result, the Fatigue index of students third semester in the mid-semester is the average category.

Abstract

Maximum performance and positive trends have always been the goal of every coach entrusted to coach a sports team, but these expectations have not been appropriately realized. The stagnation of team sports achievement in East Nusa Tenggara Province needs to find a solution to improve it. Psychology is one of the fields of study that can improve the stagnation of achievement in team sports. There are many positive consequences of increasing cohesiveness in team sports. The positive consequences of cohesiveness in sports have been described in the various scientific literature; for example, cohesiveness training affects performance, cohesiveness, and collective success contribute to team performance, and cohesiveness can build teams. Cohesiveness and anxiety are important factors for athlete performance. Thus, in team sports, cohesiveness greatly contributes to improving athlete performance.

Abstract

This study examines the Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) of Wewewa students from Southwest Sumba, who are studying in Kupang, focusing on their adaptation to ecological changes. Using a mixed-methods approach, it combines qualitative phenomenological analysis and quantitative Likert scale surveys. Results show that most students prefer studying at night due to a quieter atmosphere and cooler temperatures. As many as 80% have at least intermediate-level technological skills, which facilitates access to digital learning resources. The dominant stress management strategies are exercise (65%), meditation (25%), and social support (10%). Findings indicate that urban ecological factors influence students' SRL and academic adaptation. This study highlights the need for institutional support programs to help rural students adapt to urban environments and provides insights into the relationship between environmental changes, learning strategies, and students' psychological well-being.

Abstract

Optimization of Social Support in Physical Education Learning to Strengthen Students’ Social Self-Esteem. Objectives: This study aims to test the determination of teacher and classmate support for students’ social self-esteem. Methods: The participants were 94 junior high school students grade 7 (M = 12.7660; SD = 0.53733). We collected the data using The Teacher and Classmate Support Scale and Social Self-Esteem Inventory. Data were analyzed descriptively and the t-test. Findings: The results of teacher and classmate support and students’ social self-esteem variables show positive results, as well as proving that teacher and classmate support affects students’ social self-esteem during physical education learning activities. Conclusion: The presence of teachers in the learning class is necessary to provide social, emotional, and cognitive support to students so that they become more confident in performing their abilities and also feel comfortable with every performance they produce in some learning experiences and expressive learning cultures. Keywords: social support, teacher support, classmate support, students’ social self-esteem. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v11.i2.202105

Abstract

This study examines the improvements in students' critical academic writing skills, digital literacy, and autonomous learning through the implementation of an integrated learning model (Blegur model). This study adopted a mixed-methods explanatory sequential design. Quantitative data (pretest-posttest) from 32 students were collected using standardized instruments: the Fundamentals of Academic Writing Rubric (20 items), the Students' Digital Competence Scale (SDiCoS, 28 items), and the Autonomous Learning Scale (ALS, 12 items). The quantitative data were analyzed using paired-samples t-tests. The intervention was implemented over one semester through eight structured learning syntaxes (orientation, distribution, experimental, presentation, analysis, problem solving, competition, and award). Additional qualitative data were obtained through in-depth interviews, which were analyzed thematically to validate the findings. The quantitative results showed highly significant improvements in all three variables (p <0.001). Critical writing skills improved across all indicators, followed by improvements in six digital literacy indicators and aspects of autonomous learning. Qualitative findings revealed five themes that support the quantitative results, reflecting shifts in students’ writing, digital literacy, learning independence, critical thinking, and academic self-confidence. Therefore, both quantitative and qualitative analyses indicated that the integrated model improves students’ critical academic writing, digital literacy, and autonomous learning. Four factors influenced the improvements: active engagements in the learning process, exposure to and use of academic technology, clear and directed learning structure, and collaborative practices. Thus, this integrated learning model has proven effective and is recommended for courses that emphasize critical thinking skills, digital literacy, and autonomous learning.
