Abstract

Pregnancy after diagnosis of ovarian cancer is a rare event. Ovarian Cancer is associated with difficulty in achieving pregnancy. Little is known about the mechanism of this condition due to limited literature and studies. In this paper, the authors report a rare case of successful pregnancy in a patient with ovarian cancer. Patient initially diagnosed with cystadenocarcinoma mucinous of the ovary, two years prior to pregnancy, and later diagnosed with suspected ovarian cancer in the third trimester. The patient was then treated with optimal debulking surgery and cesarean section at 35 weeks of pregnancy. The patient delivered a healthy baby girl. Debulking surgery was carried out, and the patient was scheduled for chemotherapy. The findings from this case conclude that patients with ovarian cancer who receive conservative surgical treatment could have successful pregnancy outcomes. The quality of the patient’s life should be a priority, and follow-up for further treatment is essential.

Abstract

Abstract: Cervical cancer, caused by Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection, remains a significant burden, including in Indonesia. Low awareness of the importance of HPV vaccination at an early age exacerbates this risk. This community service program aims to improve elementary school students' understanding of HPV vaccination as a cervical cancer prevention measure. The method used was health education through audiovisual media (animated videos) and was conducted in May 2024 at SDN Kebun Bunga 6 Banjarmasin with 50 third-grade students participating. The activity began with a pretest, followed by the screening of educational and explanatory videos, and then a posttest to measure knowledge gains. The results showed a significant increase in the average knowledge score from 47.6 to 81.2, with the good category increasing from 4 to 21 students. This program demonstrates that audiovisual-based education is effective in improving students' understanding of the importance of HPV vaccination. Similar education needs to be implemented continuously, involving teachers and parents.

Abstract

Adolescents are a vulnerable group to nutritional problems due to their rapid growth and development, which require increased nutrient intake. One of the most common nutritional problems among adolescents in South Kalimantan Province is anemia, with a prevalence of 21.60%, and 23.54% in Banjar Regency. This study aims to analyze the relationship between knowledge, attitudes, compliance with iron tablet supplementation, and eating habits, and the incidence of anemia among adolescent girls. This study employed an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 47 adolescents selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using questionnaires to assess independent variables (knowledge, attitudes, compliance with iron supplementation, and eating habits), and a hemoglobinometer was used to measure hemoglobin (Hb) levels to determine anemia status. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis with frequency distribution tables and bivariate analysis using the Chi-square test. The results showed no significant relationship between knowledge (p = 0.246), attitudes (p = 1.000), compliance with iron supplementation (p = 1.000), and eating habits (p = 0.375) and the incidence of anemia among adolescent girls. However, descriptive findings indicate that poor eating habits tend to increase the risk of anemia.
