Abstract

The right learning model can create a fun learning environment and make it easier for students to learn lessons. In the process of learning the conventional learning model, the lecture method used is less flexible and seems stiff. The ability to cooperate is useful for training students to accept that there are many differences with other friends with different backgrounds. The Numbered Head Together (NHT) cooperative learning model can maximize educators’ role in paying attention to students, and positive interactions occur between students and educators and students with other friends. This study aimed to obtain an innovative learning model. The data collection methods used were observation, interviews, document studies, and literature studies which were analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis methods. The results showed that the application of the NHT cooperative learning model consisted of planning activities, implementation activities, final activities, and construction, resulting in increased interaction and discipline in learning, increased understanding in learning, and increased socialization and cooperation. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the Numbered Head Together (NHT) cooperative learning model prioritized the role of students to be active by inviting students to learn while playing. The NHT learning model helped the learning process to be effective and efficient. The selection of the application of the Numbered Head Together (NHT) cooperative learning model in Hindu Religious Education lessons is expected that learning can give more impressions and deep meaning to students in learning with a group system.

Abstract

Early childhood was the most crucial age in obtaining an education. In Early Childhood Education (PAUD), six development aspects need to be considered by the teacher. Those aspects included NAM, cognitive, physical motor, language, social-emotional, and art. These developments could stimulate various activities. Education in early childhood is not only about academic skills, but teachers must be able to develop children’s creativity. One of the crucial development aspects was cognitive. Comparison ability was an activity or comprehending comparison, both in the form of images and concrete objects. Comparison is one of the activities given to children to stimulate cognitive development. However, judging from the phenomenon in the field, the lack of teacher creativity in utilizing APE (Educational Game Tools) made the children less comprehend the concept of comparison. So, it was provided solutions by researching and comprehending the concept of comparison through block games. This study aimed to provide comprehension to B group students at Kumara Sari 1 Penarungan Kindergarten regarding the concept of comparison in early childhood through block games, as well as improving the creativity of the students and teachers. The block games aimed to develop cognitive and physical motor skills aspects in early childhood. This research was qualitative research with the model of Miles and Huberman. In this model, there were several stages conducted, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion (verification). Qualitative research must be conducted directly so that researchers can find the needed data. The data collection techniques used by researchers were observation, interviews, and documentation. This study’s primary informants or respondents were B group students, then B group class teachers and school principals. The results of this study stated that there was an improvement in the B group student comprehension at Kumara Sari I Penarungan Kindergarten regarding the concept of comparison through block games and increasing the creativity the students possessed. So, the block games could be used by the teachers to improve children’s comprehension of comparison abilities or the ability to compare objects such as concrete objects, pictures, and videos. In addition, the game tools could be used to improve students’ creativity.

Abstract

This research focuses on developing and validating the Mini Box Theater as an innovative storytelling medium for children aged 5-6 years at Bali Kumara Batubulan Kindergarten. The study followed the Research and Development (R&D) methodology, utilising the ADDIE and Dick and Carey models. The objectives were to design, develop, and assess the feasibility of the Mini Box Theater for enhancing storytelling activities. Data were collected through observations, teacher interviews, and expert validation from five validators specialising in early childhood education and media development. Content validation involved evaluating storytelling components such as literacy, children's ability to express feelings, and participation in pre-reading activities. Media validation focused on technical aspects like design, material suitability, and ease of use. The results demonstrated high content validity, with a Content Validity Ratio (CVR) 1 for all items. Based on expert feedback, revisions were made to improve the media’s visual appeal and enhance character interactions. Limitations of the study included the absence of comprehensive field testing due to time constraints. Despite this, the Mini Box Theater shows promise for improving children's storytelling skills, vocabulary, and cultural awareness. Future research should focus on field testing to assess the media's effectiveness in real classroom settings and explore its potential for broader educational applications. This study contributes to early childhood education by offering a culturally relevant and engaging tool for language development.

Abstract

Disaster mitigation education is critically important to introduce from an early age, as young children are among the most vulnerable populations during disasters. This study aims to examine the implementation of disaster mitigation education in early childhood education (ECE) settings and identify teachers' needs in delivering disaster-related content to young learners. A survey method was employed involving 67 ECE teachers in Badung Regency. Data were collected through a Google Forms questionnaire distributed via WhatsApp and analyzed using descriptive quantitative analysis. The findings revealed that only 11.9% of teachers frequently conduct disaster response simulations with children, while 19.4% rarely conduct them, 62.7% occasionally, and 6% never. Regarding content coverage, 89.4% of teachers include both pre-disaster and during-disaster phases in their instruction, while 10.6% focus solely on the during-disaster phase. The disaster simulation types implemented include earthquakes (77.6%), fires (9%), floods (7.5%), and volcanic eruptions (4.5%), while 1.4% of teachers do not include any disaster simulations. Additionally, 98.5% of teachers expressed the need for technology-based and interactive disaster mitigation learning media, while only 1.5% considered traditional simulations adequate. The study concludes that introducing disaster mitigation education at an early age can equip children with essential knowledge and skills for effective disaster response. Therefore, engaging and contextually relevant learning media and activities are crucial for enhancing disaster preparedness education in early childhood settings.
