This article analyzes the need for Industry 4.0 HR competencies. The study was conducted at a number of tertiary institutions in Medan, where the sample was determined by purposive random sampling. The variables used in this study include; a) sense-making, b) social intelligent, c) novel and adaptive thinking, d) cross-cultural competency, e) computational thinking, f) new-media literacy, g) transdisciplinarity, h) design thinking, i) cognitive load management, j) virtual collaboration. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using the Confirmatory Factor Analysis approach. The output of this research is expected to provide input and strategies for universities in strengthening the quality of the fresh graduated HR output produced. The results of this study indicate that based on the results of Confirmatory Factor Analysis, the 10 variables used have a positive relationship between variables and can be an estimator to see how fresh graduated human resources are ready to face industry 4.0.DOI: 10.24071/ijiet.2020.040107

Kartu identitas yang sudah dilengkapi radio frequency identity (RFID) dapat dijadikan alat pendukung sistem kehadiran. Sistem ini terdiri dari unit baca dan unit server. Unit baca bertugas untuk membaca UID dari kartu RFID untuk dikirimkan ke unit server agar diproses dan saat itu juga hasil prosesnya berupa nama pemilik kartu, waktu hadirnya dan mata kuliahnya dikirim kembali ke unit baca agar si pemilik kartu mengetahui bahwa sudah hadir. Unit baca terdiri dari modul RFID, modul mikrokontroler dan modul ethernet. Sedangkan pada unit server menggunakan komputer dengan memasang aplikasi Apache sebagai webservernya, MySQL sebagai databasenya dan PHP sebagai skrip program webnya. Koneksi antara unit baca dengan unit server menggunakan kabel UTP. Pengujian yang dilakukan adalah waktu respon unit baca saat terkoneksi ke unit server melalui perangkat jaringan berupa switch, dan router. Selain itu pengujian waktu respon saat unit baca tidak terkoneksi ke unit server. Hasil yang didapat adalah waktu respon rata-rata saat unit baca terkoneksi sebesar 3,92 detik, sedangkan waktu respon rata-rata unit baca saat tidak terkoneksi sebesar 15,76 detik.

Community service activities are one of the tridharma of higher education. This service is one of the efforts of the Medan State Polytechnic to carry out the Tridarma of Higher Education to contribute science and technology to the community. Based on this, the Medan State Polytechnic submitted a proposal for community service activities at the Sampali village office, Kec. Percut Sei Tuan Kab. Deli Serdang, North Sumatra. The purpose of this service is to provide reinforcement in the form of briefing on making computer-based archive management regarding correspondence, both incoming letters, outgoing letters and village head decrees to the staff (village apparatus) of Sampali Village, especially basic village administrative documents so that an electronic filing system is created that good and orderly. Strengthening by rejuvenating this type of document is expected to provide provisions for village apparatus staff about the benefits of documents that are organized and managed to facilitate the implementation of excellent service to the community, especially data processing for solving problems that will be faced in community service.

Technological developments in the field of Embedded Systems and Internet Of Thing, can be implemented in a system capable of monitoring air pollution, where the system is capable of transmitting data in real time using sensors located at near or far distances. To transmit data from various sensor devices that are located remotely, the use of LoRA technology is a solution for sending data between the client and the gateway, LoRA communication technology can be implemented into an air pollution monitoring system where the sensors are placed far from the gateway and cloud server. The prototype of this air pollution detector uses an Arduino Uno microcontroller and a Nitrogen Carbon sensor that can detect CO, NO2 and NH3 connected to LoRA Shield with the IoT platform as a monitoring and notification system. The measurement results of the three sensors in this study are displayed on the Smart Phone as a notification. From the research, it was found that the content of NH3 was 1.88ppm, CO was 17.76 ppm and NO2 was 0.12ppm. Based on the Air Pollutant Index, the results of the air quality in this area are not good.

Teknologi pada Era Globalisasi berkembang semakin pesat dalam segala bidang pekerjaan, baik dalam kalangan bisnis sekalipun. Usaha mikro kecil menengah menjadi ketinggalan informasi karena minimnya edukasi terkait hal tersebut, salah satunya adalah mengenai pemanfaatan internet sebagai media informasi dan promosi. Dengan didukung teknologi yang berkembang di Indonesia, masyarakat dan pemilik usaha harus mulai merintis dan mengembangkan ide bisnis mereka melalui jejaring sosial berupa media sosial seperti facebook, instagram, youtube, whatsapp dan tiktok yang saat ini diminati oleh banyak orang, karena kurangnya edukasi tentang media sosial tersebut menjadikan usaha mikro kecil menengah di kalangan masyarakat kecil sangatlah minim kinerjanya, sehingga masyarakatnya pun ikut ketinggalan informasi tentang manfaat media sosial sebagai sarana promosi. Pelaksanaan pengabdian masyarakat berjalan dengan lancar dan sesuai dengan rencana.Hasil pengabdian masyarakat ini yaitu dapat menambah pengetahuan dan meningkatkan semangat peserta dalam meningkatkan promosi usahanya.Selain itu, luaran dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah publikasi jurnal pengabdian masyarakat di jurnal ilmiah nasional.

In the business world, generally users and company owners need something innovative to help support performance and make it easier to use or search for product data. The presence of this website-based internet will make it easier for all groups to be able to access all forms of information, including utilizing this media to be able to connect relationships between customers and the company's products, one of which is ordering bus tickets. Based on the various conveniences and uses that the internet has, a "Use of Information Systems in Ordering and Digitizing Website-Based Bus Tickets" was developed. This system was created with PHP, MySQL and Bootstrap software. This information system is designed to provide convenience in terms of ticket ordering services and obtaining other information needed by custome.

Politeknik Negeri Medan (Polmed) has various business units that support academic and non-academic activities. However, performance management and business governance of these units face various challenges, especially due to the use of manual and non-integrated systems. The main problems faced include inaccurate data, information delays, difficulties in monitoring and evaluation, and inefficient document management. This research aims to develop an integrated Performance and Business Governance Information System to collect data, manage and present business reports in the Polmed business unit. This system is expected to increase the accuracy and speed of data processing, facilitate access and presentation of information for management, and increase efficiency in monitoring and evaluating business unit performance. Apart from that, this system is also expected to optimize the management of business documents and reports. Through a research and development (R&D) approach, this system was designed and implemented by utilizing the latest information technology. The research results show that the implementation of this information system is able to overcome various existing problems, as well as support improved performance and governance of the Polmed business unit. Thus, this research makes a significant contribution in supporting the vision and mission of Polmed as a superior educational institution.

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pendapatan para peternak ikan di Jl. Simpang Kongsi, Kecamatan Pancur Batu, Kabupaten Deli Serdang, Sumatera Utara melalui penerapan digital marketing. Berdasarkan observasi awal, mayoritas peternak masih memasarkan produk secara konvensional dan belum memanfaatkan teknologi digital secara optimal. Kegiatan ini dilakukan melalui beberapa tahapan, yaitu sosialisasi, pelatihan, pendampingan pembuatan akun media sosial serta strategi konten digital untuk promosi produk. Hasil dari kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa para peternak mengalami peningkatan pemahaman dan keterampilan dalam memasarkan produk secara daring, serta terjadi peningkatan minat konsumen melalui platform digital. Penerapan digital marketing terbukti mampu memperluas jangkauan pasar dan meningkatkan volume penjualan hasil ternak ikan. Program ini diharapkan dapat menjadi model pemberdayaan ekonomi lokal berbasis teknologi digital yang berkelanjutan.

Keberadaan bambu di Indonesia sudah sangat banyak, bahkan hampir disetiap wilayah Indonesia mudah sekali ditemukan bambu. Pada umumnya, bentuk dari kontruksi bambu tidak sepenuhnya lurus, sehingga sebagian masyarakat tidak banyak menggunakan bambu sebagai tiang atau material pendukung untuk keperluan bangunan maupun gedung. Dari berbagai penelitian, struktur bambu terbukti memiliki banyak keunggulan. Seratnya yang liat dan elastis sangat baik dalam menahan beban (baik beban tekan/tarik, geser, maupun tekuk). Adapun tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah memberikan informasi, pemahaman dan keterampilan pada masyarakat tentang bagaimana teknik dalam mengolah dan menggunakan bambu untuk berbagai keperluan terutama untuk tiang bangunan maupun tempat budidaya tanaman. Teknik tersebut adalah dengan cara meluruskan bentuk bambu tersebut sehingga bambu yang sudah diluruskan, bisa digunakan dalam skala yang lebih luas. Bambu diluruskan dengan mesin sederhana dengan bantuan api sehingga bambu lebih mudah untuk diolah. Setelah bambu tersebut diluruskan dengan bantuan mesin yang dilengkapi dengan perangkat hidrolik dan dipanaskan menggunakan api, sehingga nilai tambah dari bambu tersebut menjadi lebih meningkat dan bisa dimanfaatkan lebih luas lagi.
