Abstract

Issues of sexual violence have been reported as imbalanced by online media. This imbalance can be seen in the media's intensity, object, and motives for writing the news. This tendency indicates that the media is still taking sides in disclosing the incidents of sexual violence that occurred. The purpose of this study is to complement the findings of previous studies by focusing on how online media reports of sexual violence issues. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research based on content analysis through a feminist approach. Data was obtained through primary and secondary sources. Primary data is obtained from 5 online mainstream media selected using purposive sampling. The five media are cnnindonesia.com; Detik.com; Kompas.com; Tempo.co, and Tribun.com. At the same time, secondary data was obtained from online sources from several sites related to the research theme, including the Press Council, the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission, the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Children Protection, and the National Commission for Women. This study focuses on three months between January – March 2022 to investigate news about sexual violence in online media. The results of this study indicate that first, the high incidence of violence during the three months reached 119 reports. Second, in writing essays, the media tend to lean towards the point of view (object) of the apparatus rather than victims and perpetrators. Third, the media has a high motive for reporting warnings and exploitation motives. Based on the three results of the mapping of sexual violence reporting, the five online media tend to show injustice in writing reasons.

Abstract

This research discusses the relation between Islam and the State among Muslim scholars. Many discuss the relation between Islam and the State from Sharia and historical viewpoints. However, this study examines the relation from education standpoint. The literature research looks at academic publications from prominent Muslim scholars around the world. This research asserts that the study on relation between Islam dan the State can be divided into three main categories: integrative, substantive and secular. In relation to education, those studies reveal that educational institutions attempt to align their teaching ideology with the ideology of its founder or stakeholders. Despite their significant differences, all Muslim scholars derive their thought and discussion from thelogical foundation of Al-Qur’an and Hadith. They also seem to show a common ground in defining Islamic Education. Nevertheless, Islamic education institutions present various views on teaching the ideology in relation between Islam and the State, from moderate teaching to radical teaching or understanding.

Abstract

This study investigates the Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) profile of high school students in physics within the Indonesian Merdeka Curriculum, which emphasizes student-centered and independent learning. A descriptive quantitative approach with the Rasch model using Winsteps software was employed to analyze data from 72 Grade 11 students at a state high school in Bandung, Indonesia. The Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ) assessed SRL across various subdomains. The instrument demonstrated high reliability (Cronbach Alpha of 0.90), indicating strong internal consistency in measuring SRL abilities. The analysis revealed that most students had a moderate SRL profile, with strengths in Control of Learning Beliefs and Task Values, reflecting strong beliefs in the positive outcomes of their physics learning. However, areas such as Test Anxiety, Critical Thinking, and Effort Regulation showed lower scores, indicating areas for improvement. Additionally, Metacognitive Self-Regulation and Peer Learning enhanced students' understanding of physics. Based on these findings, it is recommended that educators design project-based learning experiences to leverage students' motivation and foster intrinsic interest in learning. Reducing test anxiety through hands-on learning and strengthening metacognitive skills through independent strategies can further support student growth. Encouraging peer learning and promoting critical thinking, mainly through Help-Seeking, are also crucial for enhancing SRL. This research provides valuable insights into SRL profiles in physics learning and offers practical strategies to improve student engagement and performance within the Merdeka Curriculum framework.

Abstract

This study explores the educational perspectives within Islam and the Java-Sundanese Indigenous Religion (Agama Djawa Sunda/ADS), focusing on the interplay between rationality and mysticism. Employing a qualitative approach, this study involves literature reviews on the core beliefs of both religions and in-depth interviews with key figures of ADS. The findings of this study reveal that both Islam and ADS incorporate elements of rationality and mysticism. In ADS, mysticism is reflected in traditional practices such as weddings and circumcisions, while in Islam, mysticism is found among groups such as Salafis and Puritanists, who rely on strict textual interpretations, often leading to radicalism. Conversely, the rational aspect of Islam is reflected in progressive interpretations by Islamic scholars, while ADS rationality is demonstrated through its teachings on nationalism and multiculturalism. The distinction between rationality and mysticism is not clear-cut but rather complementary. This study aims to strengthen the religious education curriculum by introducing different religions and incorporating both rational and mystical aspects a balanced proportion.

Abstract

Servant leadership was firstly introduced by Robert K. Greenleaf in his essay The servant as leader in 1970. Green leaf had spent his life working for a telecommunication company before he eventually dedicated his life as a public teacher. He concerned about wider society and global culture. His belief is that authentic change happened only when it began in the inner solitude of single individuals. Greenleaf explains that the servant leader is servant first with the natural feeling that one wants to serve. The leader-first and the servant-first are two extreme types of leaders with the servant-first leader taking care to make sure other people's highest priority needs are being served. Following the desire to serve may be a conscious choice that brings one to aspire to lead. In educational setting, servant leadership seems to be the most compatible leadership compare to transformational and charismatic leadership. Teachers serve the need of student and in turn this will encourage students consciously to become leader for themselves to be more independent.

Abstract

We are turning a familiar fact into a feminization of teaching. How and why school teaching has shifted from a predominantly male to a female occupation, and why males handle the top managerial at school and leaves female keeps their position as classroom teacher. Feminization of teaching in one side provides opportunity for women to take part in public sphere, especially as the increasing demand of teacher for the compulsory program. On the other hand, it seems that feminization of teaching is merely seen as the extension of family matters, which are closely related to mothering and nurturing. Consequently, feminization projects another form of domestication for women. Sadly, this condition has been supported by the fact that women rarely get access to managerial position within the educational institution. This paper will discuss the feminization of teaching in general context.

Abstract

Abstract Pesantren is an Islamic boarding school and is the oldest community-based education system in Indonesia. The methods of instruction in Pesantren are over 400 years. The focus of Pesantren is Islamic teaching, teaching community values, literacy and numeracy.  Pesantren has to compete with the contemporary educational practices currently used in Indonesia. Pesantren, as an educational institution faces challenges not only come from outside, but also from within the organization. The complex roles of the Kyai as the leader, for instance, needs to be revisited and this paper highlights the history, key roles of the Kyai and the institutional framework of Pesantren.  Arguably, there is a need to challenge the role of the leaders (Kyai) and communication patterns within the Pesantren it can respond to contemporary issues influencing education in Indonesia.  The study suggests the use of restructuring and redesigning for Pesantren. The restructuring includes, but not limited to, transforming leadership role and involving teachers in designing the curriculum. Redesigning encompasses the idea of shared responsibility among teachers and redesigning infrastructure. In short, Pesantren has embedded strengths and resources used to face challenges and accommodate changes in society. The Kyai have significant roles in revisiting those resources. How to Cite : Rahayani, Y. (2017).
