Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of grammatical practice activities in the CLT method in increasing the grammar capability of the second semester students at University of Muhamamdiyah Bulukumba. Based on the research objective, the researcher would like to find out how the CLT method is being used effectively and efficiently in the EFL class through grammar practice activities. The design of the research is a classroom action research (CAR). The researcher acts and follows four steps: Planning, Implementing of the action, observation and evaluation. The study's participants were second-semester English Education students at the University of Muhammadiyah Bulukumba. There were two classes, 20A and 20B, each with 21 students and 30 students, for a total of 51 students. The research sample was drawn from class 20A, which consisted of 21 students, using a random sampling technique. In the collection of the data, the researcher used certain types of instruments; 1) pre-test and post-test testing, questionnaire, 3) Grammar Practice Activities materials. The researcher concluded that the Grammar Practice Activities, as one of the applications of the CLT method, were effective in increasing the grammar ability of the second semester students at the University Muhammadiyah of The data collected before and after the treatment in every circle has verified this. The Grammar Practice Activities was proven to increase the students’ interest and involve the students as a center in teaching learning process toward English grammar

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether the implementation of self-directed dialogue could improve the speaking ability of class XI MAN 2 Bulukumba. The researcher applied the pre-experimental research method using a one group pre-test and post-test design and collected data by giving a pre-test and post-test. The sample of this study were 24 students of class XI A MAN 2 Bulukumba. The samples were taken using purposive sampling technique. Data were analyzed using pre-experimental. Based on the results of data analysis, it was obtained that the t-test value was 14.11 and t-table was 1.714 at the significance level of 0.05. Thus, it could be assumed that H₁ is accepted, which indicates that there is a significant increase in the students' abilities before and after being taught with the implementation self-directed dialogue. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of self-directed dialogue was effective for improving students' speaking ability in grade eleventh of MAN 2 Bulukumba in the 2023/2024 academic year.

Abstract

Masyarakat Desa Manyampa hanya memanfaatkan bagian buah kelapa sedangkan sabbut kelapa hanya sebagai bahan bakar bahkan menjadi limbah sehingga perlu ada pelatihan untuk memanfaatkan limbah tersebut. Pelaksanaan pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat dalam mengelola limbah sabut kelapa menjadi produk cocopot. kegiatan ini terdiri atas empat tahap yaitu koordinasi mnegenai perencanaan, persiapan kegiatan, pelaksanaan kegiatan, dan evaluasi kegiatan. Peserta pada pelatihan difokuskan pada kelompok Karang Taruna dan Ibu Pemberdayaan Kesejahteraan Keluarga (PKK) yang berlokasi di Desa Manyampa, Kecamatan Ujungloe, Kab. Bulukumba yang berjumlah 20 orang. Pelaksanaan pengabdian diberikan dalam bentuk metode ceramah, diskusi, demonstran, dan praktek langsung. Pelaksanaan pelatihan menunjukkan bahwa peserta antusias mengikuti kegiatan yang dimulai dari penerimaan materi hingga pada praktek langsung yang diawali dimulai dari dan pembersihan sabut kelapa, pemotongkan dan pembentukan kerangka ram, hingga pada penyusunan sabut celapa. Antusias masyarakat terlihat pada peningkatan pengetahuan perolehan rerata pretest jawaban benar sebesar 29,00% menjadi 99,00% pada saat posttest. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa pelatihan yang dilaksanakan memberikan dampak yang sangat baik terhadap peningkatan pengetahuan masyarakat. Adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dari pelatihan yang diikuti diharapkan masyarakat mampu mengelola limbah sabut kalapa menjadi cocopot yang bernilai nilai ekonomis sehingga dapat menambah penghasilan masyarakat di saat pandemi dalam membantu perekonomian keluarga.

Abstract

Social media has been widely used by many people nowadays. Chatting, playing games, calling friends and relatives, and even making an appointment for a date or reunion with some old friends can now easily be organized in social media. With those many uses, each social media platform has some community standards to regulate the interaction to avoid any violation or offence that may threaten the harmonious atmosphere in the interaction. Despite that, some harsh words, rude comments, and negative attitudes can still be easily found in social media interactions. This research investigates those rapport-threatening behaviors by analyzing how they are expressed and whether they are threatening the social media users’ rapport or not. The research finds that there are several rapport-threatening behaviors in the interactions on Instagram which are sarcasm, insult, criticism, profanity, challenge, and even emoji use.
