Abstract

The role of press education is crucial in introducing and educating the public about feminist issues through in-depth and critical reporting. Online media serve as agents of change by promoting gender equality and challenging stereotypes. Women have long been subjects in mass media, yet discussions surrounding gender equality, the feminist movement, and its dynamics persist. Feminist campaigns often find the portrayal of women in media problematic. This study, titled Framing of Feminism Reporting in Online Media: The Perspective of the Educational Function of the Press, employs qualitative research using Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki's framing analysis model, which includes syntax, script, thematic, and rhetoric elements. The research analyzes how feminism is framed in the online media outlet Wongkito.co and links it to the educational function of the press. Framing feminism in this context reflects the media’s dual role: disseminating information and educating the public on values such as gender equality, courage, and female leadership. The educational function of the press emphasizes its role in raising awareness, challenging stereotypes, and fostering positive social change. The study finds that Wongkito.co portrays women as equals to men in social, political, and economic spheres. By highlighting women’s courage and leadership, it effectively challenges gender stereotypes, fulfilling the press's educational function and advancing the discourse on gender equality. This demonstrates how media can shape societal perceptions and advocate for progressive change.

Abstract

This research aims to see how the campaign strategy on Wongkito.co online media in packaging messages on news channels as a response to the issue of gender equality. This type of qualitative research is descriptive in nature. The subject of the research is the editor-in-chief of Wongkito.co online media. The data used are primary and secondary data. Data collection techniques in this research are observation and interview. The results showed that Wongkito.co online media, as one of the feminist media in Palembang, took part in advocating the theme of gender justice and equality through various rubrics, such as Yundakito, Setara, Katokito, and Bucukito. In practice, Wongkito.co conducts campaigns with the aim of raising the issues of women, children, people with disabilities, minorities, and other vulnerable people. When creating a digital campaign program, there are four steps that must be taken, the problem identification stage, campaign design, campaign implementation, and evaluation. However, Wongkito.co has not implemented the evaluation stage, but only implemented three stages.

Abstract

Burai Ecotourism Village in Ogan Ilir has transformed from a slum into a leading tourist destination in South Sumatera. However, its digital tourism promotion remains underdeveloped, particularly through Instagram. The lack of understanding in tourism communication and digital content creation is a major barrier to increasing tourist visits, requiring training to improve sustainable promotion capacities among local tourism stakeholders. This activity aims to enhance participants’ understanding of tourism communication and digital promotional skills using Instagram as a strategic platform. The method involved a three-day program consisting of socialization and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with 40 participants, including tourism managers, POKDARWIS and MSMEs. The results showed a 79% increase in participants’ knowledge after receiving training on basic tourism communication and photography. Participants practiced photo and video conten creation using mobile phones and editing applications such as Lightroom and Capcut. Hands-on activities strengthened their digital promotion capacity and raised awareness of the importance of visual branding. Pre-test and Post-test evaluations revealed a significant improvement in promotional communication skills. The training effectively improved participants’ digital tourism promotional skills.

Abstract

Penelitian ini fokus pada proses produksi berita Program Grebek PALTV. Tujuan penelitian yaitu untuk mengetahui proses ini untuk mengetahui proses apa saja yang dilakukan redaksi PALTV dalam memproduksi berita Program Grebek. Karena Program BErita Grebek merupakan salah satu program dengan rating tertinggi dibandingkan program TV lainnya pada PALTV. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik purposive sampling yang informan kunci dalam penelitian ini adalah peneliti sendiri. Hasil penelitian menunjukan proses pengumpulan data berita Program Grebek menggunakan teknik wawancara, observasi dan konferensi pers yang disajikan menggunakan struktur berita piramida terbalik dengan ciri khas penggunaan Bahasa lokal Palembang yang terdapat di dalam narasi dan suara setiap berita yang ditayangkan. Berita Program Grebek sendiri disajakin melalui tiga tahapan, yakni tahapan pra produksi, produksi dan pasca produksi.
