In level of sentence, the finding showed that English texts tended to use deductive style rather than inductive and mix style. While in Indonesian text, the use of inductive and mix types of paragraphs in Indonesian texts were more than in English texts. In level of paragraph, multiple paragraphs were dominant in students’ English texts but some Indonesian texts were managed unwell. Abstract

The rapid advancement of information technology has significantly influenced human life, particularly through the rise of social media platforms. Among elementary school students, TikTok stands out as one of the most widely used applications, offering a range of content from entertainment to educational videos. However, concerns have emerged regarding its impact on students’ learning quality, especially due to high usage frequency and the prevalence of non-educational content. This study aims to explore the multifaceted effects of TikTok usage—including frequency, duration, content type, and usage timing—on students’ academic performance. The goal is also to highlight the importance of self-regulation and digital literacy among students in using TikTok productively to support better learning outcomes. A qualitative research design was applied, using interviews, questionnaires, and documentation involving 25 fourth-grade students. The findings indicate that students who spend more than four hours per day on TikTok and primarily watch entertainment content tend to perform lower academically. In contrast, students who limit their usage and focus on educational content display stronger motivation and higher academic achievement. The time of use also plays a critical role, as accessing TikTok during study hours or late at night negatively affects students’ concentration and sleep. The study concludes that digital supervision and awareness are essential in guiding students toward healthier media habits. Integrating more educational content into TikTok could enhance its value as a learning tool. These findings contribute to the growing discourse on digital education and offer practical insights for parents and teachers.

Abstract

Early childhood is a pivotal stage in the developmental process, including cognitive and social development. At this stage, their high curiosity encourages them to start interacting with their peers. This interaction plays a pivotal role in helping children understand their environment while developing their thinking skills, especially in problem solving. This study aims to determine the effect of interaction with peers on children's thinking in problem solving. The study uses a qualitative method with an observational approach, observing children's behaviour when playing alone and with peers. The focus of observation includes how children play, interact, and respond to problems. The results of the study show significant differences between children who actively interact with peers and those who interact less. Children who frequently interact tend to understand mistakes more quickly and are able to solve problems appropriately. Conversely, children who rarely interact show difficulty in understanding mistakes and solving problems in ways that are less in line with the teacher's instructions.

Abstract

This study aims to describe implementation of teaching strategies by teachers in introducing the concepts of colors and shapes at RA (Raudhatul Athfal) Ibnu Rusyid, Bandung Regency. The research highlights the importance of early childhood education as a golden period of child development, where appropriate stimulation significantly influences cognitive, song, motor, and character development. Teachers as the main facilitators in early childhood education institutions are required to be able to apply learning strategies that are effective, fun and in accordance with the characteristics of children, especially in introducing basic concepts such as colors and shapes. The study employs a qualitative descriptive method with teachers at RA Ibnu Rushid as the subject. Data were collected through observations and interviews. The results indicate that the teachers applied various learning strategies, including expository, contextual, and problem-based approaches. Teachers provide concrete learning media such as color cards, blocks, and everyday objects to facilitate children's understanding of color and shape concepts. Additionally, learning activities involve playing, singing, and hard-on practice that actively engage children in the learning process. The conclusion of this study is that effective teaching strategies combined with appropriate media use are highly effective in introducing color and shape concepts to early childhood learners. This research contributes to the development of early childhood education learning strategies and serves as a reference for educators in designing enjoyable and meaningful learning experiences for children.

Abstract

21st century learning demands the application of a learning model that is able to integrate knowledge, skills, and attitudes through real context. One relevant model is Challenge-Based Learning (CBL). This study aims to describe the readiness and challenges of CBL implementation in class IV science learning in elementary schools. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a case study design. Which involved grade IV teachers and students in one elementary school as research subjects. Data were collected through learning observations, semi-structured interviews with teachers, targeted group discussions with students, and analysis of learning documents. The data analysis process follows an interactive model with the stages of data reduction, presentation and finally conclusion drawn. The validity of the validity of the data is complemented by triangulation of sources and techniques. The results of the study show that teachers show a positive attitude of readiness supported by the results of students' tests, but pedagogical and technical readiness is still limited. The main challenges include limited learning time, differences in students' abilities, limited supporting facilities, and difficulties in designing authentic assessments. This study confirms that the implementation of CBL in primary schools requires support for teacher training and sustainable school policies.

Abstract

Literacy is a critical competency for success in the 21st century, yet it remains a significant challenge for elementary school students in Indonesia, as their literacy skills are generally low. This research aims to identify the factors influencing the literacy skills of elementary school students. The study adopts a correlational survey method, involving a sample of 293 students. Data was collected through a questionnaire and analyzed using the SEMPLS technique. The results reveal that reading motivation and interest significantly influence students’ reading literacy skills. However, the support from teachers and schools was found to have a limited impact on enhancing students’ reading motivation. These findings suggest that while teacher and school support are important, fostering students’ reading motivation and interest is a key to improving literacy. The study highlights the need for a more tailored approach in nurturing literacy skills, considering the diverse characteristics of students. This research contributes to understanding the underlaying factors affecting literacy and provides insights into educational strategies to enhance reading skills in elementary schools.
