Abstract

This thesis was focused on the rendering of ideologies in the English – Indonesian Translation Twain’s The Adventure of Tom Sawyer. The main purposes of the study was to explain the rendering of ideologies found in the English – Indonesian translation in the Twain’s novel The Adventure of Tom Sawyer which was realized through the rendering of ideologically-contested words, nominalization and voice. This study used descriptive qualitative study by means of Critical Discourse Analysis framework proposed by Fairclough (1989). The analysis was done by analyzing the ideologically-contested words, nominalization and voice found in the sentences where ideologies were embedded. This was also done by getting through the analysis of micro-level, meso-level and macro-level of Critical Discourse Analysis. The results of the study showed the way the ideological differences between the source language and target language were renderred, such as: tacit assumption, belief system and value system. Most of the ideologies were rendered into target language, while only few were shifted as the result of choosing the words, nominalizing the clause and changing the voice. The results of the study are expected to give a valuable contribution to the translator, English Department students and lecturers and writers to consider the rendering of ideologies in the literary works, in order to raise ideological awareness embedded on the source language and to succeed rendering the ideologies by considering the socio-cultural condition.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian (1) untuk menganalisis penerapan model Team Accelerated Instruction (TAI) dengan media peraga Electronic Auto Transmission Gear Simulator dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar, (2) untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar pada peserta didik kelas XI TKRO SMK AN NUR Banjarejo Tahun Akademik 2021/2022 melalui model kooperatif Team Accelerated Instruction (TAI) dengan media peraga Electronic Auto Transmission Gear Simulator. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang dilakukan pada mei 2022 sampai dengan juni 2022 dengan subjek sebanyak 32 peserta didik. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik dokumentasi, teknik observasi, dan teknik tes. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis kualitatif dan analisis kuantitatif. Berdasarkan hasil analisis diperoleh hasil penelitian sebagai berikut: (1) tahapan dalam pelaksanaan pembelajaran menggunakan model TAI dengan media peraga Electronic Auto Transmission Gear Simulator dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Tiap siklus terdiri dari dua kali pertemuan dengan tes hasil belajar pada tiap pertemuan kedua, (2) Model pembelajaran Team Accelerated Instruction (TAI) dengan Media Electronic Auto Transmission Gear Simulator dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik kelas XI TKRO A SMK AN NUR Banjarejo. Hal tersebut dibuktikan dengan rata-rata nilai tes hasil belajar peserta didik pada pre-test awal sebesar 65.94 dengan daya serap 41% meningkat setelah adanya tindakan siklus I menjadi sebesar 75.94 dengan daya serap 75. Pada siklus II meningkat lagi menjadi sebesar 81.88 dengan daya serap sebesar 88%. Kata kunci: Model Team Accelerated Instruction (TAI), Media Electronic Auto Transmision, Hasil belajar

Abstract

Recognizing the critical role of motivation in language learning, this mixed-methods study explored the primary sources of motivation among Indonesian ESP students and their impact on engagement, aiming to inform effective instructional practices. The research revealed a strong positive correlation between motivation and engagement. Intrinsic motivation, rooted in enjoyment, interest, and personal relevance, emerged as a particularly powerful predictor of active participation, consistent effort, and proactive learning behaviours. The study also highlighted the importance of supportive teachers and a positive learning environment in cultivating intrinsic motivation. These findings underscore the need for ESP educators to prioritize strategies that tap into students’ inherent interests, provide opportunities for autonomy and competence, and foster a sense of relevance and connection to the subject matter. By creating a more motivating learning environment, ESP instructors can empower students to achieve their language learning goals and succeed in their chosen fields.

Abstract

The provision of gadgets to children at this age can affect language development; by frequently using gadgets, children will become accustomed to practicing speech or communication. The purpose of this research is to understand the development of children's language when using gadgets. with a research design that involves developing instruments and conducting observations in the classroom by checking items on the statement list Statistical data analysis was conducted by testing the instrument with four expert raters in their field, followed by a validity test using Aiken’s V formula. Based on the results of the statistical test conducted, there is an influence of the gadget variable (X) on language development of 65.8%, while 34.2% can be influenced by additional variables that have not yet been studied. To test the significance of the regression line equation, the p-value in the General Model Test column can be used. A p-value less than (<) 0.05 indicates that the regression line equation is significant. This indicates that the regression line equation can be relied upon to estimate the variable of device usage in the language development of 4-5 year old children.

Abstract

Kemampuan berbahasa Inggris yang memadai sangat penting bagi perawat untuk berkomunikasi efektif dengan pasien asing, rekan kerja internasional, dan mengakses informasi medis terbaru. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa Inggris perawat, khususnya dalam keterampilan listening dan speaking, melalui pelatihan berbasis video dan audio. Metode yang digunakan adalah blended learning yang menggabungkan pembelajaran tatap muka dan online selama 8 minggu dengan total 16 sesi. Pelatihan melibatkan latihan intensif, umpan balik langsung, dan penggunaan media audio-visual yang relevan dengan konteks keperawatan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada skor tes kemampuan berbahasa Inggris, terutama pada komponen listening dan speaking. Selain itu, pelatihan juga berhasil meningkatkan kepercayaan diri perawat dalam berkomunikasi menggunakan bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa pelatihan listening dan speaking berbasis video dan audio efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa Inggris perawat, yang pada akhirnya dapat berdampak positif pada kualitas pelayanan kesehatan.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the relationship between students' mastery of adverbs and their success in producing recount texts. It also examined how well the students could use adverbs in their writing. This study's methodology combined a correlational approach with pre-experimental techniques. The findings demonstrated that students had an excellent grasp of adverbs, as seen by the mean value of their scores as well as their writing scores on the pre- and post-tests. The post-test revealed a constant increase in their score. The substantial association between the two variables was caused by the fact that the r-value was higher than the r product moment's critical value. Students' success in producing recount texts and their command of adverbs were significantly positively correlated. As a result, the better the students' writing recount text, the higher their adverb mastery score will be. The determination coefficient (r2) that was obtained indicated that 41.5% of the variation in writing performance may be attributed to the students' adverb competence. This demonstrated that the mastery of adverbs by students can account for both increases and decreases in writing scores by up to 41.5% through a linear relationship using the regression equation = 49.148 + 0.417X. In other words, the students' proficiency with adverbs had a significant influence on their success in writing recounts, with a proportion of 41.5%, leaving the remaining 58.5% to other considerations.

Abstract

Kekerasan seksual di lingkungan kampus merupakan persoalan serius yang tidak hanya melanggar hak asasi manusia, tetapi juga merusak ekosistem pendidikan yang aman dan inklusif. Permendikbudristek No. 30 Tahun 2021 telah menjadi dasar hukum penting dalam pencegahan dan penanganan kekerasan seksual di perguruan tinggi. Namun, implementasi kebijakan ini masih menghadapi berbagai tantangan, terutama kurangnya pemahaman sivitas akademika terhadap konsep, bentuk, dan mekanisme pelaporan kekerasan seksual. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan literasi sivitas akademika mengenai kekerasan seksual, mendorong kesadaran kolektif dalam menciptakan kampus yang aman, serta memperkuat mekanisme pelaporan yang berperspektif korban. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan dilakukan secara luring dan daring melalui sosialisasi, diskusi interaktif, serta simulasi pelaporan kasus kekerasan seksual di lingkungan Universitas Ivet Semarang. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 430 peserta, peserta terdiri dari dosen, tenaga kependidikan, mahasiswa dan masyarakat yang ada dilingkungan kampus. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman peserta terhadap konsep kekerasan seksual, jenis-jenisnya, serta prosedur penanganan dan pelaporan yang sesuai dengan regulasi. Respon peserta mencerminkan kebutuhan mendesak akan edukasi berkelanjutan dan penguatan sistem pendukung di tingkat institusional. Dari hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pendekatan edukatif-partisipatoris efektif dalam menumbuhkan kesadaran kritis sivitas akademika terhadap isu kekerasan seksual. Kegiatan ini menjadi langkah awal strategis dalam membangun budaya kampus yang responsif, aman, dan ramah terhadap korban.
