Abstract

Maintaining good relationships in all elements in life requires character education. Character education will lead to a quality generation. Establishing a relationship cannot be separated from Tri Hita Karana. A good and harmonious relationship between Parhyangan (God Almighty), Pawongan (fellow humans) and Palemahan (the surrounding environment). The younger generation must master innovative character and skills in communicating, adapting, possessing independent, social, cultural skills and understanding leadership within themselves. This character emphasizes good and bad behavior towards establishing relationships with these three components (Tri Hita Karana). So on this occasion the researchers put more emphasis on (1) Character Education, (2) Quality Young Generation and (3) Character based on Tri Hita Karana.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum on the learning outcomes of ninth-grade students in Hindu Religious Education at SMP Negeri 3 Singaraja. This research is motivated by the fact that the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in practice still faces various challenges, even though the school has fully implemented the curriculum at all grade levels. This study employs a quantitative approach. The sample consists of 47 ninth-grade students who are divided into an experimental class (24 students) and a control class (23 students). The implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum is carried out through student-centered learning, including the application of the Discovery Learning model. The focus of this study is to measure the impact of the Merdeka Curriculum on student learning outcomes, while the learning model is used as a treatment to examine how the curriculum is implemented in different contexts. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and learning outcome tests. The data were analyzed using an independent sample t-test. The results show that there is a significant effect on student learning outcomes (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, which promotes student activeness and learning independence, contributes positively to the improvement of student learning outcomes. Furthermore, the results suggest that optimizing the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum can be an effective strategy to improve the quality of both the learning process and learning outcomes in schools.

Abstract

The low level of critical and analytical thinking skills among students in understanding Hindu Religious Education materials indicates the need to develop an assessment instrument that fosters higher-order thinking skills (HOTS). This study aims to develop a HOTS-based assessment instrument for Hindu Religious Education in Grade IX of junior high school, with the goal of enhancing students' critical and analytical thinking abilities in comprehending the subject matter. The research employs the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research subject comprises the developed instrument, with instrument feasibility as the research object. Data were collected using a questionnaire completed by expert lecturers and students of Hindu Religious Education. The results indicate that the developed instrument has a very high feasibility rating, based on trials conducted by lecturers with average percentages of 88.8% and 88.2%, respectively, falling into the "Very Feasible" category. The average score from the student response trial was 87.4%, placing the product within the "Very Good" category, which suggests its suitability for classroom use. It can be concluded that the developed assessment tool is not only valid and reliable but also effective in promoting critical thinking and cognitive engagement among students. By aligning the instrument with core competencies and HOTS indicators, this study contributes to ongoing efforts to improve educational practices, particularly in religious education.
