Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases of impaired glucose intolerance that is closely related to renal vascular breast milk degener abnormalities that begin with the presence of microalbuminuria. Increased serum creatinine levels indicate impaired kidney function. Serum microalbuminuria and creatininelevels are important tocheck because they are indicators of the course of diabetes mellitus. The goal of this study was to examine the ratio of albumin-creatinine urine in people with diabetes mellitus can be used as an early detection of impaired kidney function and see an association between the ratio of urinary creatin albumin and serum creatinine levels. The urine albumin examination method uses immunoturbidimetric assay using the Jaffe method. The subjects of the examination were dm sufferers who conducted fasting blood glucose and HbA1c examinations at Pramita Clinic Laboratory Surabaya. From the results of the study obtained the ratio of albumin creatin urine and serum creatinine in people with DM mostly showed an increase in the ratio of urinary creatin creatin of 117.10 mg / g, while the average results of serum creatinine examination are still within the normal limit, which is 1.0 mg / dl. From this study proves that examination of the ratio of creatin creatin urine can be used as an early detection of kidney function disorders. Abstract

PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) is an endocrine disorder characterized by anovulation and hyperandrogenism. It was found that about ±10% of women of reproductive age cause infertility so that it becomes a burden for partners physically, psychologically and materially. Increasing age affects a woman's fertility and menstrual cycle. The menstrual cycle in women is influenced by hormones, depression, weight, and lifestyle. Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone (GnRH) is released by the hypothalamus through a secretory process every 90 – 120 minutes which then binds to gonadotropin cells and stimulates Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH), Luteinizing Hormone (LH). FSH, LH levels will increase after puberty, FSH, LH, Anti Mullerian Hormone (AMH) and estradiol are very important in folliculogenesis. However, the interactions between the four hormones are not yet fully understood. The purpose of this review was to determine the correlation between LH/FSH Ratio, AMH and Estradiol in women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). This understanding is expected to increase knowledge about the pathophysiology of PCOS. This study uses secondary data from the Pramita Surabaya Clinic laboratory which is examined for reproductive hormones. Data from 228 women aged < 35 years with an average LH/FSH ratio (0.61), AMH (3.56 ng/dL), and estradiol (34.42 pg/mL) and 172 women aged 35 years with a mean ratio of LH/FSH (0.54), AMH (2.93 ng/dL), and estradiol (36.60 pg/mL). LH, FSH, AMH and Estradiol examinations were performed on the 2-4th day of menstruation. Bivariate correlation analysis was used to see the relationship between AMH and the LH/FSH ratio and AMH and estradiol. From the results, there was a positive correlation between the AMH value and the LH/FSH ratio and a positive correlation between AMH and Estradiol which showed that AMH had an effect on the secretion of LH, FSH and Estradiol. Keywords: infertility, LH/FSH, AMH, estradiol, SOPK

Abstract

Pada kelainan hipertiroid diperoleh rerata kadar TSH (0,0612 µIU/mL), FT4 (1,53 ng/dl), LDL-Kolesterol (99 mg/dl) sedangkan hipotiroid rerata kadar TSH (17,427 µIU/mL), FT4 (0,92 ng/dl), LDL-Kolesterol (130 mg/dl).

Abstract

Background: Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) during pregnancy represents a critical health challenge, especially in developing regions, where it significantly threatens maternal and fetal well-being. Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA), an essential omega-3 fatty acid, plays a pivotal role in fetal neurodevelopment and maternal health. However, the impact of DHA supplementation on maternal calcium levels, particularly among pregnant women affected by CED, has not been extensively studied. This study evaluate the correlation between DHA supplementation and calcium levels in third-trimester pregnant women with CED, with the goal of improving outcomes for this vulnerable population. Method and Results: This research uses experimental cohort study design with a quantitative approach, using non-probability sampling techniques such as quota and purposive sampling, and involving a total of 24 participants. Statistical analysis revealed a significant increase in calcium levels following DHA supplementation, with a p-value of 0.007 (<0.05), indicating a notable impact of the intervention. The mean calcium levels post-treatment were higher than pre-treatment, demonstrating the efficacy of DHA supplementation in improving calcium levels. Further analysis showed no significant correlation between pre-supplementation calcium levels and Body Mass Index (BMI) (p = 0.622, > 0.05). However, a significant correlation was found between post-supplementation calcium levels and BMI (p = 0.002, < 0.05). These findings indicate a positive correlation between DHA supplementation and calcium levels in pregnant women with CED during the third trimester. However, further investigation is needed to fully understand the relationship between calcium levels and BMI. Conclusion: This study lays the groundwork for future research aimed at optimizing therapeutic interventions or supplementation strategies to improve the nutritional status of underweight pregnant women.

Abstract

Musculoskeletal injury is a condition of trauma or damage that affects the function of the movement system, a complex musculoskeletal system of body tissue which is responsible for supporting movement involving the skeleton, muscles, joints, ligaments, tendons and spine. Cycling can have a risk of musculoskeletal injury if the technique and timing are not right. Most injuries to cyclists occur due to using the wrong technique and not doing enough warm-up. Cycling is very important to pay attention to warming up before doing the activity to reduce the risk of injury. There are factors that influence injury when cycling, such as not understanding the importance of warming up when exercising. Cyclists who experience injuries will cause a decline in physical function and create a feeling of trauma, resulting in decreased physical activity and poor performance. Objective: To determine the effect of warming up on the risk of musculoskeletal injuries in cyclists. Method: This research used a descriptive observational research type with a cross sectional research design approach followed by a chi square test to determine the relationship between warming up and musculoskeletal injuries. Results: Around 87.5% of cyclists who did not warm up experienced injuries, while only 13% of cyclists who did warm up experienced injuries. This shows that cyclists who warm up before cycling have a lower risk of injury. Conclusion: Musculoskeletal injuries that occur in cyclists at Taman Bungkul Surabaya are caused by a lack of warm-up and have a higher risk of injury.

Abstract

Anemia is a condition in which the body experiences a decrease in the amount of hemoglobin (Hb), leading to insufficient red blood cells to meet physiological needs. Anemia during pregnancy is a condition in which the hemoglobin (Hb) level in the body is less than 11 g/dL. Anemia during pregnancy can be caused by a deficiency of iron, a lack of folic acid, and a deficiency of vitamin B12 in the body. Iron Deficiency Anemia (IDA) is the most common cause of anemia during pregnancy because pregnant women experience an increase in iron demand. Iron Deficiency Anemia (IDA) occurring in pregnant women can have negative impacts on both the mother and the fetus, posing a risk of mortality for both. In the first trimester of pregnancy, the iron required tends to be lower because the amount of iron transferred to the fetus is still low. In the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, the iron in pregnant women increases due to the growth of the fetus and placenta. Ferritin levels examination has proven to have the best sensitivity and specificity compared to other tests for diagnosing IDA. Ferritin is the storage form of iron in the body; Thus, its' levels decrease when the body is experiencing iron deficiency. To understand the description of ferritin levels in pregnant women with anemia. This research is classified as a descriptive observational study using a cross-sectional research design. Ferritin levels in pregnant women with anemia, among the 20 subjects studied, revealed that 13 subjects had normal ferritin levels, accounting for a percentage of 65%, while 7 pregnant women with anemia had low ferritin levels, representing a percentage of 35%. The number of pregnant women with anemia who have normal ferritin levels is higher than those with anemia and low ferritin levels.
