Abstract

The soul or nafs is a metaphysical study that is very important to study in knowing human nature. Because, from this concept, an understanding or worldview of the human concept will be formed. The West understands the soul as an entity that is united with the body, or even only views humans from one aspect, namely the body. So this understanding will lead to misunderstandings about human psychology and the main purpose of human creation, namely worshiping God. This manuscript aims to explain the concept of the soul in Ibn Sina's view. The author uses the descriptive analysis method to explain Ibn Sina's concept of the soul. The results of this study produce several important points. First, Ibn Sina's explanation of the soul is very comprehensive, in which he puts the soul as a substance that makes the body move or live. Second, the nafs is an independent substance, it is not accidental or 'ard and not the body itself. Hence, it does not have the form of a body. Third, the eternal nafs, when the body can change or perish, because it is an emanation or emanation from God's Essence.

Abstract

In this modern era, which is influenced by Western thought patterns, it is necessary to sift and select what aligns with Islamic teachings. Furthermore, in this modern etiquette, there is no authority of knowledge or what is referred to as secularization, hence the absence of a scientific authority as the measure of truth today. The purpose of this research is to elucidate Hamka's modern Sufism concept to address the issues of modernism and secularization with a contemporary understanding of Sufism. In composing this manuscript, the author employs a descriptive-analytical method to explain Hamka's concept of Sufism, with an analysis involving other prominent figures. The findings of this research can be summarized as follows: Sufism is understood as a doctrine about the means and teachings to attain true happiness and glory, which is the ma'rifatullah or the knowledge of Allah. Additionally, there is a method to achieve genuine happiness and glory, which is through religion, comprising elements of belief, faith, and perfection in one's religious practice. Furthermore, there are stages to attain this, primarily through reason, as a person's glory or happiness is measured by the degree of their intellectual capacity. Ultimately, true happiness is the ma'rifatullah or the knowledge of Allah. Therefore, Hamka explains that there are levels of happiness, namely temporary happiness and genuine happiness, and genuine happiness is the ma'rifatullah achieved through the perfection of intellect and wisdom.

Abstract

The discourse on investment is important to discuss. This relates to the Islamic investment model in Indonesia being below conventional investment, both in terms of quality and amount of capital and market share. Therefore, if conventional investments are regarded as haram according to Islamic law, this could have a negative impact on the image of the conventional investment market in the future. The purpose of this study is to re-clarify the understanding of investment law in Islam, particularly in the context of conventional investments. In the preparation of the paper, the author uses a descriptive-analytical approach to re-evaluate the law of investment in Islam. The results of this study conclude that although investments that promise huge profits with minimal effort are considered a reasonable practice and can be done because they have become common in society, from the perspective of financial goodness, this can disrupt financial stability, both for investors and in terms of currency value stability (volatility). Although these investment ventures initially originate from real and halal activities, if they are then sold using the derivatives market sales method, they will contain elements of usury, speculation, and uncertainty which are prohibited in some sharia laws because they do not produce good in the context of investing in accordance with Islamic teachings.

Abstract

The capitalist economic system according to Karl Marx has shortcomings, according to him there is oppression between classes which causes humans to lose their existence. Then, Karl Marx proposed a solution by introducing a socialist economic system. However, it should be noted that the proposed solution does not concretely solve the existing problems. The concept exists in the theoretical realm and is difficult to implement in real practice. Therefore, an economic system approach is needed that can effectively respond to and address the existing problems. This paper aims to explain the criticism of Karl Marx's concept of alienation as a solution to the capitalist economic system. In compiling this article, the author uses a critical analytical method. The results of this study state that, Karl Marx with the concept of alienation tried to restore human existence caused by conflict between classes in the capitalist economic system. Because, in the capitalist economic system, workers become alienated from work products, the environment, and the nature of their work. The problem in the capitalist economic system is that humans are divided into two parts, namely the owners of capital and the workers who sell their labor to them. Thus, the solution to the oppression of the proletariat over the workers is class liberation or common ownership. However, this is contrary to Islam. Because Karl Marx's idea of alienation is atheistic, contradictory, and unacceptable to common sense. Therefore, Karl Marx's concept of socialist alienation cannot be a solution to the capitalist economic system.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze Abdurrauf Singkel's concept of Insan Kamil to address the problems of sexual consent, childfree, and nature and nurture which frequently arise in urban society. These issues are a common phenomenon in contemporary urban society due to their materialistic lifestyle and the pursuit of worldly goals by denying their true nature (fitrah). Sufism's concept of "Insan Kamil" depicts the ideal human being from every perspective—that is, the ideal human being as he is by nature. This concept of the perfect human will serve as an antidote to the three problems above, each of which is a deviation from the essence of human nature. This paper is a qualitative library research that analyzes data using an analytical descriptive method. This study concludes that, first and foremost all of these issues stem from the same root cause which is a denial of human nature. As a concept of the perfect human, Insan Kamil is a manifestation of achieving the pinnacle of humanity based on true human nature. Insan Kamil is also a condition of servitude to the highest degree or ihsan. Therefore, this concept is relevant to overcoming the root problems of sexual consent, childfree, and nature and nurture which stem from the denial of one's nature. By becoming Insan Kamil, someone can place himself according to his nature in the right and proper place.
