Abstract

This Final Project report discusses the visual design process by the author as Director of Photography (DoP) in the creation of a feature video entitled "Bamboo Melody: Reviving a Traditional Symphony." This work aims to highlight the challenges faced in preserving the art of angklung music in the modern era, particularly the low interest of Generation Z in traditional culture. Angklung, which is one of Indonesia's cultural heritages, is experiencing a regeneration crisis, where the successors of this tradition are decreasing. In this context, it is important to convey the meaning and cultural values of angklung to the younger generation in a relevant and engaging way. The method of writing this report uses a descriptive approach that includes three production stages: pre-production, production, and post-production. Each stage is designed systematically and reflectively to ensure that the intended message is well received by the audience. In the pre-production stage, the author designed a visual concept that aligns with the theme and purpose of the work, namely to depict the meaningful philosophy of the angklung sound. In the production stage, shooting techniques were carefully selected to ensure aesthetics and clear communication in each frame. The results of the application of appropriate shooting techniques are proven to be able to present the philosophical value of angklung aesthetically and communicatively. Through powerful visuals, viewers can experience the depth of meaning behind this traditional musical instrument. Furthermore, this work concludes with testimonials from young angklung players and an angklung performance at Saung Angklung Udjo, illustrating concrete efforts to preserve angklung culture. This section emphasizes the importance of youth involvement in cultural regeneration, demonstrating that with a creative approach, the angklung's sound philosophy can be revived and well-received by Generation Z. Therefore, this work not only conveys solutions in the form of discourse but also provides a concrete illustration of cultural preservation through contemporary media that is accessible and understandable to the younger generation.

Abstract

The quality of library services plays an important role in encouraging public interest in reading, especially among students. Although the interest in reading among Indonesian people continues to increase, the reading interest index is still relatively low when compared to other countries. This study aims to analyze the quality of services and access to information at the Bogor City Regional Public Library. The research method used is a quantitative approach with a descriptive design. The population in this study were students and students who used the Bogor City Public Library in the period April to June 2024, totaling 212 people. Data were obtained from 68 respondents using a simple random sampling technique through a questionnaire, supported by interviews, observations, and literature studies. Data analysis was carried out descriptively through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions and verification. The results of the study indicate that the quality of service and ease of access to information in the library can meet the information needs of users efficiently. The use of modern equipment and facilities that support independence in accessing information creates a conducive environment for learning and research activities, thus encouraging users to be more active in searching for and reading information in the library.

Abstract

Sutradara merupakan posisi yang memiliki tanggung jawab atas keseluruhan aspek kreatif dalam proses produksi film dokumenter, mulai dari pra-produksi, produksi, hingga pasca-produksi. Sutradara berperan penting dalam membentuk konsep, menerjemahkan visi kreatif, serta mengarahkan proses pembuatan karya agar menghasilkan dokumenter yang informatif dan layak ditonton. Penulisan laporan tugas akhir ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan peran sutradara dalam setiap tahapan produksi film dokumenter “Tricked By Trends” dengan pendekatan ekspositori dan naratif. Metode penciptaan yang digunakan terdiri dari tiga tahap, yaitu pra-produksi, produksi, dan pasca-produksi. Pada tahap pra-produksi, sutradara berperan aktif dalam pengembangan ide dan penyusunan konsep bersama scriptwriter, serta memastikan bahwa struktur naratif dan pendekatan ekspositori telah dirancang dengan matang. Pada tahap produksi, sutradara mengarahkan pengambilan gambar, wawancara, dan elemen visual lainnya agar selaras dengan alur naratif dan tujuan ekspositori film. Sementara pada tahap pasca-produksi, sutradara bertanggung jawab melakukan finalisasi dan revisi terhadap hasil produksi agar menjadi satu kesatuan yang utuh. Kesimpulannya, peran sutradara dalam film dokumenter “Tricked By Trends” berhasil dijalankan dengan baik, mulai dari pembentukan konsep hingga penyelesaian akhir karya, dengan mengintegrasikan pendekatan ekspositori dan naratif secara harmonis untuk menyampaikan isu impulsif di kalangan Gen Z secara efektif.

Abstract

A scriptwriter is the individual responsible for organizing and designing the storyline as the foundation for the documentary video production process. In the production of the documentary video “Bisakah Aku Kembali?”, the scriptwriter plays a crucial role in processing facts and research data into a structured narrative, thereby delivering messages informatively while building emotional resonance with the audience. The purpose of this report is to explain the narrative script planning process and describe the application of the three-act structure as the primary approach in building the storyline. The writing method used is descriptive through the stages of research, observation, and interviews, processing field facts into a structured narrative. Synthesis of the work was carried out by applying the three-act structure, consisting of Act I (setup) to introduce the issue and context of rehabilitation, Act II (confrontation) to develop conflict through medical realities and animal behavior during rehabilitation, and Act III (resolution) to present the conclusion and reflection on the relationship between humans and nature. In conclusion, documentary script planning using a narrative approach and a three-act structure is capable of producing a coherent, informative, and reflective storyline in conveying conservation messages regarding the rehabilitation of the Javan Slow Loris as a protected species.

Abstract

The Director of Photography (DOP) is responsible for the visual aspects of documentary video production, covering the pre-production, production, and post-production stages. The DOP plays a crucial role in translating concepts and messages into visual form through the arrangement of composition, lighting, camera angles, and camera movement to produce visuals that are both aesthetically appealing and meaningful. The purpose of this final project report is to explain the role of the DOP in the production process of a documentary video that focuses on the rehabilitation of the Javan slow loris. The method used is a descriptive approach to systematically and comprehensively identify the object of study. In the pre-production stage, the DOP designs the visual concept, prepares the shot list, creates the storyboard, and coordinates with the director. During the production stage, the DOP is responsible for capturing footage by applying cinematographic techniques. In the post-production stage, the DOP conducts visual evaluation and provides input during the editing process. In conclusion, the Director of Photography has effectively fulfilled their role in producing visual quality that supports message delivery in the documentary Bisakah Aku Kembali? about Javan slow loris rehabilitation.
