Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Drilling Method at PKBM Windsor Homeschooling Bekasi, this study used the action research method. Data collection was taken by a series of steps: planning, action, observation, and reflection. Two special needs students at PKBM Windsor Bekasi served as the research objects. Research results show that the drilling method can be implemented well. Research indicates that using the drilling method can improve students' vocabulary mastery. Based on observation, the results show an increasing growth of vocabulary and understanding, an average of 70%, a significant result for special needs students, from cycles 1-6. The results of this research are important for improving special needs students' vocabulary. ABSTRAKKajian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan implementasi metode drilling yang dilaksanakan di Homeschooling PKBM Windsor Bekasi. Studi ini menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas. Data diperoleh melalui perencanaan, tindakan, observasi dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah dua siswa berkebutuhan khusus di PKBM Windsor Bekasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode drilling telah dilaksanakan dengan baik. Penelitian, yang menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan metode drilling dapat meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata siswa berkebutuhan khusus. Berdasarkan pengamatan, hasilnya menunjukkan peningkatan pertumbuhan dan pemahaman kosakata. rata-rata sebesar 70%, hasil yang signifikan bagi siswa perlu khusus, dari siklus 1-6. Hasil penelitian ini memberikan makna penting bagi peningkatan kebutuhan kosakata siswa khusus.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara kecemasan siswa dan pemahaman membaca pada 30 siswa kelas VIII di SMP Mitra Nusantara. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif korelasional dengan instrumen berupa angket kecemasan dan tes pilihan ganda pemahaman membaca. Hasil analisis menggunakan korelasi pearson product-moment menunjukkan nilai r = 0,188 dengan signifikansi 0,319 yang berarti terdapat hubungan positif sangat lemah namun tidak signifikan secara statistik antara kecemasan dan pemahaman membaca siswa. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa kecemasan bukan faktor dominan dalam memengaruhi kemampuan membaca siswa, dan bahwa faktor lain mungkin lebih berperan.

Abstract

In this day reading habit was low performance especially in the Z generation who was born in the late 1990s and early 2000s. They didn’t familiar with newspaper or magazine but they look for the information by internet. So, this study aim to find out “How Reading Habit can Support Students Self Regulated in Literal Reading Subject.” This research used descriptive qualitative Methods. Creswell (2012, p.274) explained the purposes of descriptive method is to find the detailed explanation and description about the object of the research systematically. This research was conducted at the first semester of Universitas Panca Sakti in Bekasi. The subjects of this research were fifty six students at the first semester on  literal reading class. The data collection get by two instruments namely interviews and questionnaire. This finding revealed during learning took place; the student who has reading habit can easier to do all Reading Test than the student hasn’t reading habit. They agreed that the students need to have their own learning skills during learning. The result proves that how reading habit can support the students’ self regulated learning especially in literal reading subject.

Abstract

Learning language will be easier to master when you are a child, but the current curriculum in Indonesia places English language lessons as additional content. So activities are needed to motivate children to learn English. This article aims to introduce English to elementary school students. In this activity, the service applies games to attract students' interest. The application of games is based on the consideration that children at this age still like to play and it will be easier to attract the attention of elementary school students through games. There were 150 community service participants at SDIT Assalam Green School with the theme. Fun English with Games. After this activity was carried out, information was obtained that 99.3% of students liked this activity, 96.6% stated that through game activities made students enthusiastic about learning English, 97.3% stated that this activity increased knowledge related to English, and 98.6% stated that this activity made students want to learn English. Thus it can be concluded that there is an increase in English language knowledge obtained by students at SDIT Assalam Green School.

Abstract

In Speaking for Academic Purposes, the students must be able to speak actively. And there are some materials on this subject, one of them is Debate. Active debate is one way to improve students' speaking skills. So, the purpose of this study was to improve students’ speaking skills through Active Debate. This research method is classroom action research, which is used in two cycles, and each cycle has four steps: planning, action, observing, and reflection. The data presented in this study were obtained from observations, interviews, and students’ speaking scores. The subjects of this research were fifteen students in the fourth semester of the Speaking for Academic Purposes Class at Panca Sakti University. In the study, the researcher got the result, namely the percentage of speaking scores. The score for students speaking test in cycle one was 52.36 % passed, and 47.64 % failed; Passed 78,2% and 21.8% failed in cycle two. So, the increase in yield in cycles 1 and 2 is 25.84%. And score for aspects of observation in cycle one is 71,38% passed and failed: 28,62%; passed 92,5% and 7,5% failed in cycle two. Based on the data above, it can be concluded that learning English, especially speaking through active debate, can improve students’ speaking skills.
