Abstract

Nearly a billion individuals have been quarantined since the COVID-19 epidemic began. As a result, several nations, including Indonesia, have enacted legislation prohibiting all forms of schooling and requiring governments and allied agencies to develop alternate ways of instruction for each educational institution. On the other hand, universities that have not yet developed an infrastructure for online learning may encounter obstacles. Many professors and students are wary of implementing online learning methodologies due to the ingrained culture of the traditional educational system. The study's objective was to ascertain how teaching and learning activities were conducted a year after Al Washliyah Labuhanbatu University was closed due to an epidemic. The study employed a mixed-method approach, collecting quantitative and qualitative data using questionnaires. The mixed-method strategy was supplemented with a Google Forms-based online questionnaire distributed to 100 students. Over 75% of instructors include video conferencing, learning management systems, and instant messaging in their presentations. During Covid-19 at Al Washliyah University, teachers agreed that combining the three platforms reduced obstacles to online learning and increased lecturers' and students' familiarity with the usage of online learning materials.

Abstract

This research aimed to find out: (1) the application of the Realistic Mathematics Education to improve students' mathematical communication skills and (2) the increase of students' mathematical communication abilities using the Realistic Mathematics Education. This is classroom action research used Kemmis and Taggart model design with four stages, namely Planning, Action, Observation and Reflection. The instruments used were tests of students' mathematical communication skills, questionnaires, observations and interviews. The research subjects were 36 students in class VIII grade of MTs Ar-Royyan. From data analysis, it was found that in cycle I students' mathematical communication skills reached 73.61% which meant achieving the level of classical learning completeness and in cycle II it was 86.11%. In other words, there was an increase in students' mathematical communication skills by applying the Realistic Mathematics Education.

Abstract

The research was aimed to find out the experiential function in recount text of MA Ar-Royyan students. This research was conducted by qualitative data analysis. The subject of this study were the students of MA Ar-Royyan. They were as the source of the data in the research. The data was the recount text of the students’ writing assignment of tenth grade of MA Ar-Royyan. The conclusion in the study were: in term of ideational meaning analysis indicates that the students‘ recount texts draw on the students‘ experience in particular place and time. The occurrence of process, participants and circumstances are exist in the students‘ recount texts. From the text, there are some process that were realized in the students‘ recount texts such as material, mental, existential, relational process. Not all of the process existed in the students’ text. They used some circumstances such as extent, location, manner and accompaniment. In term of ideational meaning, the process drives the students to choose the right vocabularies in composing their texts. Then from the textual meaning, the students are able to coherent the paragraph in their texts.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to develop a local wisdom-based mathematics teaching module with a Realistic Mathematics approach (PMR) to improve students' mathematical problem solving skills on the material of the System of Linear Equations of Two Variables (SPLDV). The background of this research is based on the low results of Indonesia's PISA in 2022 and the findings at MTs Raudlatul Uluum Aek Nabara which show the low problem solving ability of students, as well as the unused teaching materials that link the local cultural context. The research used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects were 38 students of class VIII-D. The results of module validation by experts showed that the module was in the "valid" category (average score 4.69). The results of the student response questionnaire showed that the module was "very practical" with a percentage of 94%. The effectiveness test using N-Gain showed a significant increase in problem solving ability with an average score of 79.66% and all students showed a high increase, so it was categorized as "very effective". Thus, this local wisdom-based module with PMR approach is proven to be valid, practical, and effective to improve students' mathematical problem solving skills.
