Abstract

Nearly a billion individuals have been quarantined since the COVID-19 epidemic began. As a result, several nations, including Indonesia, have enacted legislation prohibiting all forms of schooling and requiring governments and allied agencies to develop alternate ways of instruction for each educational institution. On the other hand, universities that have not yet developed an infrastructure for online learning may encounter obstacles. Many professors and students are wary of implementing online learning methodologies due to the ingrained culture of the traditional educational system. The study's objective was to ascertain how teaching and learning activities were conducted a year after Al Washliyah Labuhanbatu University was closed due to an epidemic. The study employed a mixed-method approach, collecting quantitative and qualitative data using questionnaires. The mixed-method strategy was supplemented with a Google Forms-based online questionnaire distributed to 100 students. Over 75% of instructors include video conferencing, learning management systems, and instant messaging in their presentations. During Covid-19 at Al Washliyah University, teachers agreed that combining the three platforms reduced obstacles to online learning and increased lecturers' and students' familiarity with the usage of online learning materials.

Abstract

Based on classroom observations and students' views of their experiences, this study intends to evaluate the use of public speaking abilities in online courses. The Exploratory Sequential Mixed Design research approach was adopted, and 85 students participated in this study. The findings indicate that bodily content and visual cues are significant while speaking in public. The survey findings showed that participants did not want to attend online because they were on camera and had restricted screen display. There was also no difference in the substance of online and offline presentations, even though the visual component was thought to be the most  beneficial and powerful in online presentations for attracting attention. An online public speaking course covering the visual message area in depth is also essential.

Abstract

Mixed learning methodologies have been disputed in terms of educational quality when it comes to self-study. Educators face specific challenges when making hybrid learning work since they must adjust to teaching while also strengthening their technological abilities. The blended learning paradigm, which is commonly adopted in many educational institutions, can produce a slew of issues for students. The goal of this essay is to gather thoughts about distance learning based on social media comments. This study creates a classification model using Twitter tweet data by assessing public perceptions and acceptance of the mixed learning model. The findings of examining thoughts regarding this model include categorizing tweets as favorable or unfavorable using the Twitter sentiment analysis approach. The results revealed an almost equal polarization of positive and negative sentiments, with 44.51 percent positive and 45.80 percent negative. More research can be done to analyze attitudes not just on Twitter but also on other social media platforms to improve public opinion accuracy about mixed learning in a pandemic crisis.

Abstract

This study aims to conduct a bibliometric analysis of the Budidarma Informatics Media Journal (MIB) for the 2018-2022 period using the Dimensions database. The period produced 683 publications which then became the dataset in this study. The dataset was analyzed using Bibliometrix R-package Biblioshiny, and research trends were mapped using VOSviewer visualization. The analysis results show that the collaboration index of MIB journals has a moderate value and tends to be low, although the annual growth rate of 79.08% looks very significant. The number of citations over five years only amounted to 157, so the average citation per article was 0.22. The average FCR is 0.16, which indicates a citation that is well below average. The results of testing Lotka's postulates for author productivity in this period showed a significant difference between the analysis results and the theory in Lotka's postulates. As for trends, research related to "algorithms" became the most dominant word and the center of the cluster connected to other clusters, becoming the most widely used research topic.

Abstract

Statistik merupakan komponen kritikal dalam penelitian dan pembelajaran di bidang Pendidikan Biologi, mengingat perannya yang signifikan dalam analisis data dan pengambilan keputusan berbasis bukti. Namun, observasi tren saat ini mengindikasikan adanya kekurangan dalam literasi statistik di kalangan mahasiswa Pendidikan Biologi, yang berpotensi menghambat kemampuan mereka dalam penelitian dan aplikasi praktis. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengeksplorasi dan memahami tingkat literasi statistik mahasiswa Pendidikan Biologi, yang dapat memberikan wawasan berharga bagi pendidik dalam merancang dan mengimplementasikan strategi pembelajaran yang efektif. Penelitian survei ini melibatkan sampel sebanyak 40 mahasiswa Pendidikan Biologi di Universitas Al Washliyah. Hasil analisis ini sebagian besar mahasiswa Pendidikan Biologi di Universitas Al Washliyah memiliki pemahaman yang baik tentang Statistika Dasar. Sebagian besar mahasiswa menunjukkan pemahaman yang baik tentang konsep-konsep statistik yang ditekankan dalam pernyataan, walau masih ada beberapa area yang memerlukan peningkatan. Hasil analisis yang dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa secara umum tingkat literasi statistik mahasiswa cukup memadai, dengan 55,5% dari sampel menunjukkan pemahaman yang baik tentang konsep statistik yang diajarkan. Namun temuan menunjukkan bahwa konsep-konsep yang berhubungan dengan klasifikasi variabel ke dalam skala yang berbeda (yaitu, nominal, ordinal, interval, dan rasio) adalah area yang memerlukan perhatian lebih lanjut.

Abstract

Critical thinking plays a crucial role in enhancing environmental literacy by fostering the ability to analyze, evaluate, and understand complex environmental issues. The purpose of this study was to analyzed the profile of critical thinking and environmental literacy of biology education students at Al-Washliyah Labuhanbatu University. This research is descriptive quantitative in which data were collected through observation and questionnaires. critical thinking indicators are simple explanations, building basic skills, inferring, making further explanations and strategies and environmental literacy indicators knowledge, cognitive skills, attitudes and behaviors related to environmental stewardship. The results showed that the mean score of CT skills (M=13.81, SD=3.52) was weak and below the optimal average (M=17.1, SD=5.0) and the environmental literacy profile shows that for the knowledge indicators the average is 61.25% with a sufficient category, for the cognitive skills indicators 63.95% with a sufficient category, for the attitude indicators 76.53% with a good category, for the environmentally responsible behavior indicators 53.92% with a poor category.  Critical thinking skills of biology students at Al-Washliyah Labuhanbatu University is not favorable and environmental literacy for the ecological knowledge aspect is still at a moderate level, which means that some ecological concepts such as biogeochemical cycles are not well understood

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of artificial intelligence and digital marketing on online purchase intention, with customer experience as a mediating factor among students at Al Washliyah University, Labuhanbatu, North Sumatra. This quantitative descriptive study targets a population comprising all students at Univa Labuhanbatu, from which a sample of 100 students was selected. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire designed on Google Forms and distributed via WhatsApp to ensure broad reach among participants. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), facilitated by SmartPLS software, was employed to analyze the data. The findings of this study reveal several key insights: first, artificial intelligence has a positive and significant impact on purchase intention. Second, digital marketing similarly exerts a positive and significant effect on purchase intention. Third, customer experience is shown to effectively mediate the relationship between artificial intelligence and purchase intention, indicating that improved customer interactions enhance the AI’s impact on purchasing behaviors. Lastly, customer experience also mediates the relationship between digital marketing and purchase intention, demonstrating the importance of customer engagement in optimizing digital marketing effectiveness. These findings underscore the critical role of customer experience as a bridge linking AI and digital marketing efforts to purchasing intentions, especially within a university student demographic in a digital context

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh modal usaha dan lokasi usaha terhadap volume penjualan pada usaha mikro di Labuhanbatu selatan. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif dan asosiatif. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah 100 pelaku usaha mikro yang dipilih secara purposive sampling, dengan kriteria usaha yang sudah beroperasi minimal satu tahun dan memiliki omzet yang terukur. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara terstruktur dan kuesioner, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan regresi linier berganda dengan bantuan software SPSS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa modal usaha dan lokasi usaha memiliki pengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap volume penjualan. Modal usaha memberikan kontribusi yang besar dalam meningkatkan kapasitas operasional dan pemasaran, sementara lokasi usaha yang strategis juga berperan penting dalam menarik konsumen. Temuan ini memberikan implikasi bagi pelaku usaha mikro untuk memperhatikan kedua faktor tersebut guna meningkatkan volume penjualan dan daya saing usaha mereka.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh keterampilan wirausaha dan promosi penjualan terhadap minat beli konsumen pada Toko Serba 35 di Desa Perlabian, Kampung Rakyat, Labuhanbatu Selatan. Dalam menghadapi persaingan yang semakin ketat, usaha mikro seperti Toko Serba 35 harus memanfaatkan keterampilan wirausaha pemiliknya serta strategi promosi yang efektif untuk menarik minat konsumen. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain deskriptif dan kausal. Populasi penelitian adalah konsumen yang pernah berbelanja di Toko Serba 35, dengan sampel 50 konsumen yang dipilih secara acak sederhana. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner yang mengukur variabel keterampilan wirausaha, promosi penjualan, dan minat beli konsumen. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan regresi linier berganda untuk mengetahui hubungan antar variabel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan wirausaha dan promosi penjualan memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap minat beli konsumen. Keterampilan wirausaha, seperti pengelolaan keuangan, perencanaan bisnis, dan pengambilan keputusan yang tepat, berperan penting dalam meningkatkan minat beli konsumen. Selain itu, promosi penjualan, termasuk penggunaan diskon, hadiah, dan promosi melalui media sosial, juga terbukti efektif dalam mendorong keputusan konsumen untuk membeli produk. Dengan keterampilan wirausaha yang baik dan promosi yang tepat, Toko Serba 35 dapat menarik lebih banyak konsumen.

Abstract

Scientific article writing training is an essential skill for students and academics in conveying their research findings and scientific thinking. However, various challenges such as limited academic vocabulary, writing structure, and time often become obstacles. This study aims to develop effective writing strategies and evaluate Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based training as an innovative solution to improve the quality and productivity of scientific article writing skills and understand the ethics of using AI in academic writing. The method used was a quasi-experimental model with a structured training model, utilizing AI-based tools such as ChatGPT, Grammarly, and SciSpace. The results showed a significant increase in the quality and productivity of the training participants' writing. This training provides evidence that an AI approach can be an effective tool in academic literacy.
