Government capital assistance needs to expand special credit with conditions that are not burdensome for small businesses to help increase their capital through the formal financial services sector, the informal financial services sector, guarantee schemes, and leasing venture capital funds. The government needs to improve training for small business actors in entrepreneurship, management, administration, and knowledge and skills in business development. Besides that, it is also necessary to apply the training results in the field to practice theory through the development of pilot partnerships.

Abstract

Poverty is a crucial issue that affects various social and economic aspects in Indonesia, requiring severe attention to achieve sustainable development. This study aims to analyse the impact of economic growth, income distribution, human development index (HDI), government social assistance, and consumption on poverty levels in Indonesia. Using a quantitative research approach with secondary data from Statistics Indonesia for 2019-2023, this study employs panel data regression analysis using EViews 13 to examine the relationship between variables. The findings indicate that economic growth, income distribution, and HDI significantly impact poverty reduction, while government social assistance and consumption do not show a significant influence. These findings imply the need for inclusive economic growth, fairer income distribution, and investments in human capital development. Moreover, there is a need to improve the design of social assistance programs and strategies to promote productive consumption to be more effective in reducing poverty. This highlights the importance of targeted and integrated policies to address poverty in Indonesia comprehensively.JEL: I32, O15, H53.

Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analyzes quantitative relationships, while qualitative findings provide contextual depth.Empirical Results: Income does not affect awareness, while price and practicality had a significant positive impact. However, income, price, and practicality had adverse but insignificant effects on 3 kg LPG consumption. Awareness did not mediate the relationships between income, price, practicality, and consumption.Implications: Policymakers should improve subsidy distribution, strengthen public education campaigns, and promote alternatives like induction stoves to reduce dependence on subsidized LPG. JEL Classification: D12, H23, L95, Q41, Q48

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of economic growth, income distribution, and the Human Development Index (HDI) on poverty in Indonesia, both partially and simultaneously. The data used in this research is secondary data, comprising a total of 680 observations from 34 provinces in Indonesia over the period 2018-2022. The data analysis technique employed in this study is panel data regression. The results of this study indicate that, partially, economic growth and income distribution have significant effects on the poverty level in Indonesia. Meanwhile, the Human Development Index (HDI) does not have a significant impact on poverty levels in Indonesia. Simultaneously, economic growth, income distribution, and the Human Development Index (HDI) together have a significant effect on poverty in Indonesia. Based on the results of this study, it is recommended that the government implement effective policies through progressive taxation, direct cash transfers to poor families, and social protection programs targeted specifically at those below the poverty line. Additionally, investment in education must be increased to ensure broader access and better-quality education for all segments of society.
