Abstract

Innovative learning media, designed to meet students' needs, can boost motivation and improve learning outcomes. One such medium is interactive PowerPoint. This study aims to explore how developing interactive PowerPoint presentations affects students' motivation and their understanding of virus-related biology material. We adopted an experimental approach, comparing the effects on a control group and an experimental group chosen through random sampling. We assessed motivation through questionnaires and learning outcomes with multiple-choice tests, analyzing the data with covariance analysis (ANCOVA) at a significance level of 0.05 using SPSS 21.0. Our findings reveal that interactive PowerPoint significantly enhances both student motivation and learning achievements. Specifically, students learning with interactive PowerPoint (average score of 44.19 ± 13.175) performed significantly better than those in the control group (average score of 34.49 ± 12.433). Furthermore, motivation levels in class X3 (83.38 ± 6.605) were notably higher than in class X4 (82.58 ± 8.866). These results underline the impactful role of interactive PowerPoint in biology education, particularly for virus topics, suggesting it's a valuable addition to the curriculum. This finding offers fresh insight into the ongoing relevance and effectiveness of PowerPoint as an educational tool in biology, demonstrating its substantial benefits in presenting biological concepts in modern teaching strategies.

Abstract

Critical thinking is a higher level thinking ability. In reality, students still have difficulty thinking critically when learning science. An effort is needed to improve critical thinking skills. The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of LKPD based on the Discovery Learning learning model in improving elementary school students' critical thinking skills. This type of research is quasi-experimental. This research involved 84 elementary school students in class V. The research sample consisted of 68 students. Data collection in this research was obtained from a learning outcomes test in the form of 12 essay questions. Data obtained was tested for normality and homogeneity and then analyzed using the t-test. In the experimental class the highest score was 85, the lowest score was 40, the average was 70.36, with a standard deviation of 9.36. In the control class the highest score was 48.7, the lowest score was 5, the average was 20.2, with a standard deviation of 8.94. In the process, students in the experimental class showed better critical thinking skills than control class students. From the results of this research it can be seen that the value of t_count = 41.12 > table = 1.668, so the hypothesis or H1 is accepted, thus the use of LKPD based on the Discovery Learning learning model has an effect on critical thinking skills in elementary school students.

Abstract

Pancasila education is an educational program that aims to instill the basic values of Pancasila in society, especially students from an early age. This education focuses on the five principles in the Pancasila of Godhead, Humanity, Unity, Democracy and Justice - which reflect the basic values of the Indonesian nation. Through Pancasila education, students are taught to understand and apply moral, social and nationalist values that support national unity, respect diversity and encourage participation in national life. In the Merdeka curriculum, Civics learning outcomes for phase A students include the introduction of Pancasila symbols and principles, application of Pancasila values in everyday life, and respect for diversity. Analysis at SDN 1 Langkapura shows that learning Pancasila education is still limited to memorizing the principles of Pancasila, without a deep understanding of its values, as well as students' lack of mastery of the concept of rights and obligations. This emphasizes the importance of using contextual and interactive approaches, such as role playing and practical activities, to facilitate learning that is appropriate to students' developmental stages of thinking. Apart from that, increasing teacher competence and integrating Pancasila values in daily learning is the key to achieving optimal learning goals

One of the targets of the Sustainable Development Goals is ending Open Defecation globally in 2030. Data from the Cirebon City Health Office shows that Lemahwungkuk Village, which is in the working area of the Cangkol Community Health Center, is the only area in Cirebon City that is not yet free from Open Defecation Free (ODF). As the front guard in health services in the community, health cadres need to be educated about ODF to increase their knowledge so that it can be disseminated to the community in an effort to stop ODF. The research design is a quasi-experiment with a pre-test and a post-test. The population is cadres at the Cangkol Community Health Center, Cirebon City, with a sample size of 34 respondents, using accidental sampling. Data was obtained primarily through the use of a questionnaire. Data were analyzed univariately and bivariately with statistical tests, such as the paired t-test. Before the extension, there were 24 cadres whose knowledge was in the good category (70.6%). Meanwhile, 32 people (94.1%) were mostly good after counseling. Statistical test results (p-value=0.000) with a difference of 1.06. There is a significant influence of extension activities on cadres' knowledge about Open Defecation Free in Cirebon City.
