Abstract

Ritual keagamaan menjadi salah satu cara  manusia untuk mendekatkan diri dengan Tuhan yang memiliki kekuatan tersebut. Emosi keagamaan semakin terbangun, sehingga kepatuhan dalam menjalankan segala perintah agamanya dan menjauhi segala yang dilarang oleh Tuhan akan semakin terlaksana. Begitu juga dengan Suku Punjabi penganut agama Sikh di Kota Medan. Suku Punjabi penganut agama Sikh adalah salah satu etnik yang berasal dari India Utara. Dalam ritual keagamaan yang dilakukan, umat Sikh tidak pernah terlepas dari penggunaan susu lembu baik ketika sembahyang di Gurdwara (rumah ibadah umat Sikh), maupun dalam ritual keagamaan lainnya. Menggunakan metode peneitian kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara tidak terstruktur dan analisis etnografi serta analisis domain, penelitian ini mengungkapkan pengaruh dan dampak terhadap penggunaan susu lembu dalam ritual keagamaan Suku Punjabi penganut agama Sikh di Kota Medan. Ternyata susu lembu menjadi penguat betapa sakralnya ritual keagamaan tersebut. Susu lembu diolah menjadi sebuah makanan (karha parsad) yang kemudian menjadi media pada saat dilakukan Ardas (prosesi berdoa). Karha parsad tersebut kemudian dipotong dan dibagikan kepada umat Sikh lainnya.

Abstract

This study is a study that explores cultural values and develops a gymnastic movement that originates from the Aceh Rampoe dance in Langsa City. The research method used is a combination of qualitative research and development (Research & Development) from Brog and Gall. In the part of exploring the cultural values of the Rampoe Aceh dance, qualitative research methods are used with a holistic approach through in-depth interviews and direct observation at dance studios. Historical analysis of this dance is not a traditional Aceh dance that has existed for a long time. accordance with the terminology of the naming "Rampoe" which in Indonesian translation means "mixture", then this is the essence of the Aceh Rampoe dance. This dance is created and developed by combining or a mixture of several types of traditional Acehnese dances, such as the Likok dance, the Saman dance, and the Seudati dance. At each movement and the translation of the meanings contained in the Rampoe dance, it shows a variety of life messages related to the orientation of cultural values, namely first, the connection between the essence of a life of the Acehnese people (MH), and secondly related to the nature of the relationship between the Acehnese people and others. human (MM). A cultural value orientation that leads to the essence of life in oneself which is a creature that is created and has the creator, as well as relationships with other creatures (humans). So it requires a way to remind oneself to build a relationship between the creator and the creator (Allah SWT), which is accommodated by the element of religiosity that is felt in the lyrics of the Rampoe dance which are full of recitations of shahada and Shalawat. The Rampoe dance movement consists of Nyap (bending), moving steps, Rheng (horizontal movement), Asek which is a movement of turning the head from right to left, Ketrip Jaroe which is a movement in the form of snapping fingers, Nyet which is the body resting on the feet, then Dhet namely the movement of shrugging while the hand is slapped to the rhythm of the song, Gudam Kaki, and Puta Taloe, which is moving alternately between dancers.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengungkapkan tentang Sindroma budaya gangguan kepribadian yang dialami oleh lelaki Jawa di Desa Meranti Kabupaten Asahan yang disebut dengan Mesu/Meso/Kesu. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode etnografi dengan pendekatan Antropologi Psikologi yang didukung dengan teknik wawancara riwayat hidup (Life history) dan pengamatan (participant observer) yang dilakukan secara mendalam terkait dengan karakteristik sindroma budaya Mesu dan aktivitas sosial budaya masyarakat setempat untuk menemukan faktor penyebab terjadinya gangguan kepribadian Mesu. Sindroma budaya meso adalah sebuah bentuk berperilaku meluapkan kekesalan hati dengan wujud memaki, menghujat, dan berkata buruk yang dilakukan berulang oleh penderita Mesu disaat sedang sendiri. Budaya Etika hidup yang begitu kuat dalam menjaga keharmonisan keluarga dan sosial menjadi salah satu penyebab gangguan kepribadian ini terjadi

Abstract

Folk belief through magical practices is an integral part of the discussion about the Pancur Gading Site, located in Deli Tua Village, North Sumatra, Indonesia. Through this folk belief, people come with their own goals and purposes. The remains of this site can be seen by the rushing water of the two showers, namely ‘pancuran putri’ (princess shower) and ‘pancuran panglima’ (the commander's shower). People believe by using this water, all the problems in their life can be resolved immediately. Various magical practices are also held to fulfill human desires for the problems they face.  The religious behavior of the people who believe in the properties of Pancur Gading is based on the folk belief in the worshiped figures. The legend of Putri Hijau provides a conception of revered supernatural figures, including the princess known as Putri Hijau or Nini Biring, her first brother (kakek naga), the second (kakek meriam), her commanders, and the ancestors who were worshiped according to cultural background of their respective communities. This belief is strengthened by the existence of media from supernatural experts who connect to patients. This paper is an effort to make an inventory of the various folk beliefs and traditions related to the Pancur Gading Site as an intangible cultural heritage.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk pengeksplorasian dan pendokumentasin pengetahuan lokal etnik Nias dalam pemanfaatan dan pengelolaan tumbuhan lokal sebagai pangan dan obatan. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Kecamatan Sirombu, Mandrehe dan Mandrehe Barat, Kabupaten Nias Barat. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode etnografi dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi secara langsung dan wawancara mendalam bersama masyarakat setempat. Data yang telah dikumpulkan kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan tahapan analisis Spradley. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan adanya pengetahuan lokal manaku dengan memanfaatkan tumbuhan sagu (zagu) sebagai pangan. Kemudian, nilafo sebagai pengetahuan lokal dalam pemanfaatan tumbuhan wewe usö (daun benalu pohon duku) sebagai obatan yang saat ini masih diketahui oleh masyarakat setempat. Namun eksistensi pengetahuan lokal ini mendapatkan tantangan yakni masih minimnya proses pendokumentasian dan penulisan. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi tambahan referensi kajian etnobotani terkait pengetahuan lokal Etnik Nias di Kabupaten Nias Barat.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the telling of the story of the Legend of Nini  Kawar at the Lake Lau Kawar tourist attraction, explore the local community's strategy in bringing the existence of the Nini  Kawar story to tourists in an analysis of Jean Baudrillard's hyperreality in the Lake Lau Kawar tourist area and explore the implications of telling the story of Nini  Kawar in preventing deviations. social activities carried out by tourists in the Lake Lau Kawar tourist area, Karo Regency. This research uses an embedded mixed-method design that combines qualitative and quantitative data searches. The data sources in this research are the results of participant observation, ethnographic interviews, and distribution of questionnaires. The data analysis techniques used are ethnographic interview analysis, domain analysis, and component analysis which will be assisted by the atlas. ti application. Meanwhile, the questionnaire on the third problem formulation data will be measured using percentage analysis and assisted with the SPSS application. This research was conducted in Kuta Gugung, Naman Teran District, Karo Regency, North Sumatra. The results of this research found that Nini  Kawar or Nini  Karo is a figure believed by people in the Lau Kawar Lake tourist area to be the guardian of Lau Kawar Lake. The legend of Nini  Kawar is still kept alive in the Lau Kawar Lake area. The aim of reviving Lake Lau Kawar is to socially control the behavior of the community and tourists who visit the Lake Lau Kawar area. This can be seen from the existence of prohibitions or taboos that visitors must obey. These prohibitions and taboos must be obeyed by the local community and visitors who come to the area to avoid the plague of Nini  Kawar

Abstract

This research was conducted to describe the cannibalism storytelling of the trial stone legend and describe the strategy of the local community in building anthropophagic images of the trial stone legend in Simanindo District. This research was carried out using qualitative research methods with an ethnographic approach. Methods of data collection were carried out through literature studies, observation, and in-depth interviews. There are three narrative versions related to the legend of the trial stones, and the body parts consumed in the rituals carried out at Huta Siallagan. The three narrative versions in question are the community version, the local guide version, and the performance version. Reports related to cannibalism have previously appeared in various historical writings in Sumatra. The story of cannibalism in Huta Siallagan, Simanindo District, is still maintained and is still used as tourism support at this location. The hyperreality of cannibal stories that seem to really happen is strengthened by simulacra patterns (1) narrative through local guides, (2) legend performances trial stone, (3) animism geopark information board, and (4) generalization of the legend of trial stone legend. The stone legend of the trial and the story "Batak people eat people" are not only limited to influencing the economic aspects of society but also have various important values that can be used as a reference by today's society. The values in question are juridical values, political values , and social values.

Abstract

This research focuses on the problems experienced by married women suffering from HIV AIDS with a theoretical study of Michel Foucoult's body power. The design of this research is qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. This aims to reflect the life world of HIV AIDS cases among married women in the city of Medan. There are several things that underlie the permissive state of the informants which cannot be separated from the pressure (determinism) of cultural values that have been constructed into the informants' understanding. The state of determinism that influences this problem includes the cultural value of the household which provides space for the construction of patriarchal domination. This then presents the episteme of "serving" the husband which creates oppression (subaltern) in women. Not only do they face chronic health problems, but also complicated household problems due to their illness. Even though this woman's position is also that of a victim who was infected by her husband
