Abstract

The lack of understanding and interest among the younger generation in aerospace sports presents a challenge in developing aviation potential in Papua, especially in Jayapura City. This community service activity aimed to educate and promote paramotor as an innovative and inspiring air sport. The target participants were 50 prospective Physical Education teachers from the Undergraduate Program in Physical Education, Health, and Recreation at Cenderawasih University. Methods included interactive lectures, educational videos, and live paramotor demonstrations. The results showed a significant increase in participants’ understanding and interest in paramotor as an alternative physical activity and potential future profession. Paramotor education is essential for broadening sports perspectives while fostering courage, innovation, and patriotism among youth.

Abstract

Character education has become a fundamental aspect of the national curriculum, aiming to develop students' moral integrity, responsibility, discipline, and cooperation. Physical education (PE), with its emphasis on physical activity, teamwork, and sportsmanship, serves as a strategic medium to internalize these character values. This study analyzes curriculum regulation documents to examine how character values are integrated into physical education in Indonesian schools. The research object consists of national curriculum policy documents, including the 2013 Curriculum, the Merdeka Curriculum, the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 22 of 2016, and the official guidelines for Physical Education learning. The primary objective of this study is to explore the extent to which these documents reflect a commitment to character development through PE. A qualitative research method with a document analysis approach was employed. Data were analyzed using content analysis techniques, focusing on the identification of explicit and implicit character values embedded within the learning objectives, core competencies, and learning outcomes related to PE. The findings indicate that curriculum regulations provide substantial normative support for character education, particularly in promoting values such as discipline, respect, honesty, cooperation, and responsibility. However, the degree of clarity and operational guidance in implementing these values varies across different documents. In conclusion, while regulatory documents recognize the importance of character development through physical education, there remains a gap between policy articulation and practical implementation. This study highlights the need for clearer pedagogical guidelines to optimize PE as a vehicle for character education in Indonesian schools.

Abstract

The implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum represents a significant reform in Indonesia’s national education system, aiming to provide greater flexibility and student-centered learning. In the context of Physical Education (PE) at the junior high school level, this curriculum seeks to enhance not only students’ physical abilities but also their character, creativity, and collaboration. This research evaluates the effectiveness of the Merdeka Curriculum in improving the quality of PE learning at State Junior High School  (SJHS) 4 Jayapura. The object of this study is the Physical Education learning process as applied under the Merdeka Curriculum at State Junior High School 4 Jayapura. The main objective is to analyze how well the curriculum promotes engaging, inclusive, and competency-based learning in PE classes. This study used a qualitative descriptive method. Data were gathered through classroom observations, interviews with PE teachers, and questionnaires distributed to students at the school. Findings indicate that the Merdeka Curriculum has a positive influence on the quality of PE learning, particularly in increasing student motivation, active participation, and the integration of character-building elements. Nonetheless, several challenges were identified, such as limited facilities, inconsistent implementation, and the need for continuous teacher training. In conclusion, the Merdeka Curriculum at State Junior High School 4 Jayapura demonstrates promising potential in enhancing PE learning. However, its success is highly dependent on adequate resources and ongoing professional development for educators.

Abstract

The athlete civil protection is a required element in the competitive sport and especially, against contract exploitation, unfair treatment and improper compensation associated to injuries as well as performance success. This paper seeks to evaluate the type of civil law protection that is provided to an athlete in Indonesia and what legal gaps have often been found to exist within the high performance sports. The study focuses on legal documents, regulations, and the contract of the athletes and the cases of the disputes about the bonus claims, the cases of the sponsorship and the end of the training because of the injury using a normative juridical approach and a case study approach. The findings indicate that most of the contracts of athletes have no explicit provisions on health protection, insurance cover, and dispute resolution processes, which expose athletes to unilateral actions by sports organizations. There is also a lack of standardized contract models and a low degree of legal awareness among athletes, especially minors and amateur athletes who start professional careers, which is evidenced. This paper suggests that there should be an expansion of a thorough civil law system of an athlete agreement, which incorporates mandatory insurance, remuneration systems and sporting arbitration as a way of enhancing the legal certainty and just competition in sports.
