Abstract

Objectives. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of reciprocal and self-check teaching methods, which can serve as a reference or alternative solution in tennis lectures to enhance the quality of learning. Materials and methods. The study used an experimental method with a Pretest and Posttest design. The sample size matched the population, and individuals were paired based on their tennis ability. The t-test was used for analysis and showed a significant difference between the two groups. Conclusion. Without a doubt, the evidence suggests that the reciprocal teaching method is vastly superior to the self-check method. By incorporating a collaborative approach, reciprocal teaching enables individuals to learn from one another and to engage in active discussions. On the other hand, self-checking lacks the interactive element that is crucial for effective learning. Therefore, it is not surprising that the results overwhelmingly favor the reciprocal teaching method as the more influential and successful approach.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) in enhancing student creativity and collaboration in Physical Education at State Junior High School 7 Jayapura. In the 21st century, conventional learning methods frequently prove to be ineffective in promoting active engagement and collaboration among students. This research employs a classroom action research method conducted over two learning cycles, involving 32 students from grade VIII. Data collection was carried out using observation sheets, student reflection journals, and performance-based assessments. The research findings indicate a significant improvement in students' creative thinking abilities, especially in designing and executing physical activities in innovative ways, as well as in collaborative skills such as idea sharing, conflict resolution, and group responsibility. The implementation of context-based project tasks, the provision of guided autonomy, and reflective discussions contribute to the creation of a more meaningful and engaging learning environment. These findings confirm that the PjBL model not only promotes the development of core competencies such as creativity and collaboration but also aligns with the goals of Physical Education in encouraging active participation and the holistic growth of students.

Abstract

Character education has become a fundamental aspect of the national curriculum, aiming to develop students' moral integrity, responsibility, discipline, and cooperation. Physical education (PE), with its emphasis on physical activity, teamwork, and sportsmanship, serves as a strategic medium to internalize these character values. This study analyzes curriculum regulation documents to examine how character values are integrated into physical education in Indonesian schools. The research object consists of national curriculum policy documents, including the 2013 Curriculum, the Merdeka Curriculum, the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 22 of 2016, and the official guidelines for Physical Education learning. The primary objective of this study is to explore the extent to which these documents reflect a commitment to character development through PE. A qualitative research method with a document analysis approach was employed. Data were analyzed using content analysis techniques, focusing on the identification of explicit and implicit character values embedded within the learning objectives, core competencies, and learning outcomes related to PE. The findings indicate that curriculum regulations provide substantial normative support for character education, particularly in promoting values such as discipline, respect, honesty, cooperation, and responsibility. However, the degree of clarity and operational guidance in implementing these values varies across different documents. In conclusion, while regulatory documents recognize the importance of character development through physical education, there remains a gap between policy articulation and practical implementation. This study highlights the need for clearer pedagogical guidelines to optimize PE as a vehicle for character education in Indonesian schools.

Abstract

This study addresses the low levels of student motivation and participation commonly observed in physical education classes. Traditional teacher-centered methods often fail to engage all students, resulting in passive learning environments. To overcome this challenge, the Jigsaw-type cooperative learning model was implemented to encourage active student involvement and boost learning enthusiasm. The research was conducted in a junior high school setting, targeting eighth-grade students as the object of study. The primary aim of this research is to examine the effectiveness of the Jigsaw cooperative learning model in increasing students’ motivation and participation during physical education lessons. A classroom action research design was employed, involving two cycles with stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observation sheets, student questionnaires, and teacher field notes, and then analyzed descriptively. The results indicate a significant improvement in both student motivation and participation from the first to the second cycle. In the initial observation, student participation was limited, and motivation levels were low. However, after the implementation of the Jigsaw method, students demonstrated increased engagement, collaboration, and enthusiasm in physical activities. In conclusion, the Jigsaw-type cooperative learning model proves to be an effective instructional strategy to enhance students’ motivation and participation in physical education. This approach not only fosters a more interactive learning environment but also supports the development of social and teamwork skills among students.
