Abstract

The study aims to design and develop a freeware application for electrical installation planning analysis. This research is categorized as development research, adopting the RAPID Application Development (RAD) model. The data collection process in this study involved a series of methods, including direct observation of the learning process, in-depth interviews with potential users, and the distribution of structured questionnaires to relevant respondents. The analysis of the collected data was carried out using a quantitative descriptive method, which aimed to describe and interpret numerical data related to the performance and acceptance of the developed application. The overall results of this study indicate that the designed and developed freeware application, as a learning media for electrical installation planning analysis, demonstrates highly satisfactory performance and falls into the "Very Good " category. Specifically, the evaluation of the application's functionality aspect showed a success rate of 100%, indicating that all designed features and functions operate according to the expected specifications. Similarly, the assessment of the user interface aspect also reached a percentage of 100%, implying that the application's interface design is intuitive, easy to use, and overall provides a positive user experience. In addition, in terms of material and media feasibility, it produces "Highly Feasible". The application is determined to effectively incorporate electrical installation planning content pertaining to the learning outcomes of determining cable sizes and circuit breaker capacity. Consequently, this freeware application has significant potential to become an effective learning media in enhancing the understanding and skills of students and practitioners in the field of electrical installation planning.

Abstract

Academic supervision makes vocational high schools able to improve the quality of graduates to be ready to work and able to compete in the job market in people's lives. This paper aims to explore and describe the implementation of quality and supervision of vocational high schools using a qualitative approach. This type of qualitative research with a case study research design. The main target of this research is the supervisor of a vocational school in the city of Padang. This study is limited to a qualitative description of the implementation of quality and supervision of Vocational High Schools. The source of this research data is from key-informant, purposively. Data collection techniques with interview and observation techniques. Analyze data by coding, linking, and interpreting themes. The results of the research are: 1.) Supervisors are not ready to carry out supervision; 2.) The education office is less than optimal in empowering supervisors; 3.) Supervisors are less aggressive in positioning themselves; 4.) The coordinator of supervisors does not carry out his functions optimally; 5.) The low motivation of supervisors; 6.) The distribution of procurement of supervisors is uneven; 7.) The control mechanism for supervisors and the coordinator of supervisors is not working properly; 8.) Reward and punishment do not work; 9.) School visits are just routine; and 10.) Relations with teachers and schools are not well established. The conclusion is that the implementation of academic supervision is still not running optimal and lacks good communication and coordination.

Abstract

The transformation into online learning during Covid 19 pandemic induces culture shock for students, teachers, and parents. Consequently, students present less participation in online learning. One of the stakeholders capable of improving students’ learning engagement is the school counselor. This study aims to examine secondary school students’ learning involved in the guidance and counseling online program. In this study, we employed a descriptive-quantitative research method, then collected data using a survey method and questionnaire. As many as 293 secondary school students from Java, Indonesia, participated in this study. Further, the obtained data were analyzed using SmartPLS 3. Our analysis results suggested the presence of positive and significant effects of (1) family support on students’ learning engagement; (2) information self-efficacy and communication technology on students’ learning engagement; (3) ICT self-efficacy to students’ interaction with the learning material; (4) school support to students learning engagement; (5) students learning motivation to their learning engagement; (6) students interaction with learning material to their learning engagement; and (7) teachers’ performance to students interaction with the learning material. Meanwhile, teachers’ performance during online learning was observed to have no significant and positive impact on students’ learning engagement.
