Abstract

Provision of teaching aids for learning is a matter that is needed by academics, such as the tensile testing machine. Tensile testing machine consists of several components, including: Frame, power transfer screw, pulling throttle, fixed grip holder, cross head, pulling screw pair, power screw gear, drive gear, WPX gear box, chain, v-belt, driving pulley, electric motor, sprocket, WPA gearbox, drived pulley. With the tensile testing machine, academics know the characteristics of the material, as an important knowledge of material materials viewed from materials that have tensile strength, compressive strength, twisting force, shear force, modulus of elasticity, to where the material is already unable to withstand the load and break up (Fracture / Break). From the research results obtained a maximum load of 292 MPa far exceeds the yield stress of AISI 1035 material of 282.69 MPa, for Savety of Factor obtained 0.97 is also below the safety factor standard of 1.

Abstract

Coconut trees are widely spread in Indonesia, generally in rural areas. People usually sell coconuts to middlemen and some are processed by themselves for copra. Processing coconut into dried coconut (copra) can be done through the process of drying by the sun or using a machine. Copra processing to produce coconut oil in the region is usually done traditionally by tasting coconut milk over a fire, which later the water will evaporate and the remaining oil and pulp. Because the method is still very traditional, the process needed to produce coconut oil takes about five to six hours. Therefore, it is necessary to apply the technology of the screw palm press tool is a technology that has been designed to accelerate the production process so as to save labor, fuel and practical use. The results of research and design of copra screw press machines that have been completed in the form of design drawings using solid work applications. Machine dimension refers to a simple machine with copra storage tube material using a steel pipe with a thickness of 5 millimeters. For skeletal materials using U profile steel, L profile steel. Electric motor power and transmission systems use 0.5 HP gearbox, chain, gear measuring 36 and 14 v-belts and pulleys measuring 15 and 10. In the manufacturing process adapted to the design data and using production machines that have been adapted to the needs in the process of making tools. With the manufacturing solution, the screw press palm tool is veryhelp forcopra prcessors top produce coconut oil. For copra weighing 3 kg can produce 1 kg of oil, copra weighing 6 kg produce 2 kg of oil and copra 10 kg can produce 4 kg of oil.

Abstract

Commodity coconut (Cocos Nucifera L) is a plantation crop that has a very large contribution to the Indonesian economy. Coconut plantations have the second largest area in Indonesia after oil palm plantations. Coconuts are widely cultivated, used and utilized by the community for various purposes and coconuts are the most widely used part. Coconut fruit is processed into various types of food, beverages, cooking and raw materials for making oil (copra). To produce copra and coconut milk, the coconut fruit is separated first between the pulp and coconut shell. For the production of coconut milk, stripping the shell is useful to maintain the purity of the coconut milk. The process of peeling coconut shells/coconut shells manually or mechanically is considered less effective because this method of grating makes the remaining shells also shredded so that this affects the quality of coconut milk. Also the process of peeling coconut shells / coconut shells manually is very dangerous for fear of injuring members of the hand. in research begins with planning to identify problems as well as collect data. Product concept to determine the function and overall structure depicted by block diagrams. The design process is carried out using CAD software which produces design drawings specifically in the form of design information before entering the production process. The coconut shell peeler machine is made with an electric motor used 1HP, with motor power (P) = 746 W, motor shaft rotation (n) = 1445 rpm, and electric motor voltage (V) = 220 Volts. The stripping process on the machine is equipped with 1 blade, with 1 rotating gear, which is attached to the rotating shaft which is driven by an electric motor. The knife material used is SKD 11 steel. The overall dimensions of the coconut shell peeler machine are 550 mm long, 400 mm wide, and 850 mm high.

Abstract

A polishing and sanding machine is a tool that works using electrical energy, to determine the particle elements of a material there are several tests that must be carried out, one of which is metallography testing. The metallographies process aims to see the microstructure of a material. Metals is a science that studies metal materials, this science develops not only on the basis of theory but on the basis of observation, testing and measurement. The process begins with the installation, grinding, polishing, etching, and continues with observation under a microscope. The working principle of the tool is to polish the test object using coarse, medium, fine and very fine sandpaper. The mechanical properties of a metal or alloy can be observed, one of which is by analyzing the microstructure of the material. The metallographies test carried out aims to observe the microstructure. In the process of working on metallographies testing samples involving polishing and sanding machines. The formulation of the problem in designing this polishing and sanding machine is "How to design the construction of the polishing and sanding machine provided that the frame can withstand the loads from the forces that occur when the polishing and sanding machine operates, How to design the construction of an appropriate polishing and sanding machine, efficient & ergonomics”. The design of this polishing machine begins with designing a polishing machine using the FEM method, then selecting components, making components. Component assembly, and polishing machine testing.
