Abstract

Background: Stunting is a nutritional problem in developing countries, especially in the first 1000 days of life, as can be seen from chronic growth and development disorders in children. The government's attention is focused on dealing with stunting in Indonesia, even though there has been a decline in the stunting rate in 2021, namely 24.4 and in 2022, namely 21.6%, but it is still far from the target. Method: This type of research is quantitative with a cross sectional design. The sample in this study amounted to 114 respondents and the sampling technique used stratified random sampling. Result: The results of the research show that there is a relationship between pregnancy distance and maternal knowledge on the incidence of stunting in toddlers with a p-value of 0.000. Implication: Stunting cases must be resolved seriously from all levels, starting from increasing mothers’ knowledge regarding fulfilling maternal nutrition during pregnancy, support from husbands/families, health workers with health education for mothers and the government as well as issuing policies to reduce stunting rates and programs that have been implemented then controlled maximally until it matches the target.

Abstract

Stroke patients generally experience daily self-care disorders due to old age (elderly), so that motor skills are low. One factor affecting the ability to take care of oneself every day and be motivated to be independent is self-efficacy. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of self-efficacy-based education on the daily self-care of stroke patients at the Haji Adam Malik General Hospital and its implications with counselling guidance. The type of research used is a quasi-experimental design using the nonequivalent control group pre- post-test only design method. The population in this study were all ischemic stroke patients at Haji Adam Malik Hospital Medan and a sample of 36 people. Researchers provided educational interventions based on self-efficacy using visual media, discussions, motor skills training, and occupational exercises for three meetings per week with a duration of 30 minutes each session for six weeks. Data collection with primary and secondary data and analyzed by statistical test Paired Sample t-Test. The results showed an effect of self-efficacy-based education on the daily care of stroke patients at Haji Adam Malik Hospital Medan (p-value = 0.000 <0.05) such as motor function and improving their daily activities.

Abstract

Stroke is a sudden disease that disrupts blood flow in the body, a brain condition causing disability, immobility, and prolonged paralysis, which reduces blood supply to tissues, especially in patients with prominent bones, increasing the risk of pressure ulcers. This study aimed to identify the effect of effleurage massage using canola oil on the risk of pressure ulcers in stroke patients at Kesdam Iskandar Muda Hospital. The study employed a Quasi-Experimental design with a pretest and posttest approach. The sampling technique used was non-probability sampling, specifically convenience sampling, with a total of 30 participants. The instrument used was the Braden Scale. Data were analyzed using a paired t-test. The study showed that the risk of pressure ulcers in ischemic stroke patients before the intervention was as follows: severe risk (70.0%), mild risk (20%), moderate risk (6.67%), and very severe risk (3.33%). After the intervention, the risk distribution changed to mild risk (60%), severe risk (33.33%), moderate risk (3.33%), and very severe risk (3.33%). Statistical analysis revealed a p-value of 0.001 (<0.05), indicating that effleurage massage using canola oil significantly affects the risk of pressure ulcers in stroke patients. This study confirms that effleurage massage using canola oil has a significant effect on reducing the risk of pressure ulcers in stroke patients.

Abstract

One of the graduation requirements for final-year students is completing a final project in the form of a Scientific Paper (Karya Tulis Ilmiah or KTI). The purpose of this study was to investigate ehat factors influence students’ anxiety in the process of completing a final project. The research method used was quantitative with a cross-sectional study design with a sample of 155 final year students who were preparing their final project at Akper Kesdam Iskandar Banda Aceh. Anxiety was measured using the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale 21 (DASS) 21 questionnaire. Data analysis using Chi-square using SPSS software. The result of the study explained that there was a significant relationship between family factors, peers, supervisors and environtment with the anxiety of students who completed their final project with p value <0,05. This study recommends future researchers to conduct experimental studies as a form of effort to overcome students’ anxiety in completing their final project.
