Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether teaching students fables in pairs of students during their second year of MA Nurul As'adiyah Callacu improved their vocabulary achievement. A pre-experimental methodology was used in this study's research in order to meet its goal. The academic year 2020–2021 was when the population was in its second year under MA Nurul As'adiyah Callacu. Purposive sampling was employed to obtain the sample. There were 17 students in the class that was selected from the X-A class with the most samples. According to the data analysis's findings, students' post-test mean scores (52.52) were higher than their pretest mean scores (32.23), and (52.52 – 32.23) was the gain score (20.29). The researcher used t-test statistical analysis for paired samples. The analysis of the data revealed that the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted since the significance of the t value (0.000) was larger than the level of significance (0.05) and the degree of freedom (df) = 16. It can be inferred that using a fable in pair work can help students learn more vocabulary.

Abstract

The goal of this study was to determine whether or not using the Spider Word Webbing approach could increase students' vocabulary proficiency in terms of form, meaning, and use. The researcher used a pre-experimental design. The sample for this study was 25 students in their second year of Middle School (MTs Muhajirin As'adiyah Kampiri in the academic year 2019/2020) drawn from a population of 95 students using purposive sampling. A vocabulary test was provided before and after treatment to determine the pupils' language mastery. This study found that using the Spider Word Webbing approach increased students' vocabulary mastery at MTs Muhajirin As'adiyah Kampiri. The t-test (9.050) has a higher value than the t-table (2.064), and the degree of freedom (df) is 24. The null hypothesis (H0) is rejected, while the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted. The Spider Word Webbing approach is found to be successful in improving students' vocabulary mastery in terms of form, meaning, and use.

Abstract

The focus of this research was to use the reciprocal teaching strategy to increase prospective teachers reading comprehension in the sixth semester of English education at IAI As'adiyah Sengkang. A pre-experimental approach with pretest and posttest design was used by the researcher. Using the cluster random sampling technique, a total of 13 people were included in the sample. This study used a 20-item multiple-choice reading test as the research tool. Pre-test and post-test data were obtained. The data analysis revealed that the mean score of prospective teachers pre-tests was 59, 29 and the mean score of prospective teachers post-tests was 77,62. It was discovered that after undergoing reciprocal teaching strategy treatment, the prospective teachers reading comprehension improved (α < 0.05). The researcher found that a reciprocal teaching strategy was appropriate in teaching reading comprehension at IAI As'adiyah Sengkang's sixth semester of English education based on the results of data analysis. Reciprocal teaching strategy can be used as an alternative strategy in the teaching and learning process by English teachers and other scholars.

Abstract

Students can study in non-formal schools as well as formal schools, such as by participating in training to improve their grasp of a lesson. However, being able to attend the course is unquestionably costly. Some of the kids hailed from low-income homes, found it difficult to balance their studies with their busy lives at Islamic boarding schools, lacked enthusiasm for studying English and lacked English language manuals other than school textbooks, among other symptoms. Therefore, the goal of this service activity is to help students at the As'adiyah Sengkang Islamic boarding school improve and guide their English skills. This service activity is conducted using a fun training style that includes games, singing, and short chats. The result of this service is that students' English skills have improved as a result of this optimization and guidance, as evidenced by an increase in students' average English scores from 78 on the initial test to 87 on the final test. It can be concluded that using the training and direct guidance method to improve students' English at the men's boarding school, As'adiyah Sengkang is an effective way to improve students' English.

The statistical analysis shows that the mean score of the student's accuracy in the pretest (2.45) is lower than in the post-test (3.3), that the mean score of the student's fluency in the pretest (2.4) is lower than in the post-test (3.45), and that the mean score of the student's comprehensibility in the pretest (2.9) is lower than in the post-test (3.3). (3.8). The table reveals that the significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results of the student's speaking ability is higher (10.76) than the inferential statistical analysis shows (1.729).

The findings of this study show that after treating students with personal experience, their speaking abilities significantly improved. The value (Sig. 2 tailed) was used to demonstrate the point. With a level of significance (α) of 0.05 and a degree of freedom (df) of N-1 = 30, the value (Sig. 2 tailed) is 0.000. The alternative hypothesis (H1) was approved as a result. Based on the findings, the researcher draws the conclusion that the students' speaking abilities were considerably impacted by the application of personal experience, indicating that personal experience helps students talk more clearly.
