Abstract

Digital transformation in education improves entities by implementing significant changes in education by combining information technology, computing, communication, and coordination. This paper proposes improving education through a digital transformation through platforms, specifically online skills-based learning called ASAH Skill. The survey was conducted by collecting question data from Google Forms. By using the Problem Validation method and Primary Data, obtained Product Validation on Customer Needs (Survey) and Product Strategy (Affinity Diagram). It is a market-based validation as a guide for designing ASAH Skill products that meet the criteria and needs of Skill Providers and Seekers. The method considered consists of three steps, namely strategic situation analysis (SSA), strategy formulation (SF), and strategy implementation (SI). We have finally found what customers need to develop their skills during the isolation period of the covid-19 pandemic. The survey was conducted on 51 respondents. Strategic Implementation consists of Mockup, Business Model Canvas (BMC), and Problem Solution Fit Canvas. The biggest detention experienced by respondents was very limited mobility (82.4%). The survey also showed that most of the activities respondents did during the pandemic were exploring new things (37.3%). Video editing is the most learned skill during the pandemic (25.9%), and YouTube is the respondents' main choice as a medium for learning skills (43.1%). Overall, the results of the study show that dispensing and learning skills are a new need for society during a pandemic. The provision of a platform is a development opportunity as a forum for the dissemination and learning of skills. The highest priority is on the 'easy to use' attribute where all respondents give an importance rating of 5.

Abstract

The development of a THz system often requires a device that is used to radiate or detect THz waves. One way to fulfill this requirement is to use an antenna. Therefore, we need to consider the radiation characteristics of an antenna working in the THz region. In this paper, we present simulation study of two dipole antennas, i.e. a planar strip dipole antenna and a slot dipole antenna. The simulation results show that a planar strip dipole antenna has a better radiation efficiency (more than 95%) compared to the slot dipole. It also shows that an efficiency of more than 98% can be achieved when using silicon dielectric substrate. Furthermore, a return loss characteristic of 38,752 dB can be achieved by using a silicon dielectric substrate and a metal layer of Au for the planar slot dipole antenna.

Abstract

A terahertz system uses dielectric lens antennas for focusing and collimating beams of terahertz wave radiation. Linearly polarized terahertz wave radiation has been widely applied in the terahertz system. Therefore, an accurate method for analyzing the power flow density in the dielectric lens antenna irradiated with the linearly polarized terahertz wave radiation is important to design the terahertz systems. In optics, ray-tracing method has been used to calculate the power flow density by a number density of rays. In this study, we propose a method of ray-tracing combined with Fresnel’s transmission, including transmittance and polarization of the terahertz wave radiation to calculate power flow density in a Silicon lens antenna. We compare power flow density calculated by the proposed method with the regular ray-tracing method. When the Silicon lens antenna is irradiated with linearly polarized terahertz wave radiation, the proposed method calculates the power flow density more accurately than the regular ray-tracing.

As one of Indonesia’s main export agricultural commodities, coffee farming faces many obstacles, ranging from plant pest organisms to climate and environmental problems. These problems can be solved using smart farming technology. However, smart farming technology has not been applied intensively in Indonesia. This paper aims to analyze the potential for implementing smart farming for coffee in Indonesia. This article presents a systematic review of the information about the potential application of IoT smart farming for coffee farming in Indonesia by applying the PSALSAR (Protocol, Search, Appraisal, Synthesis, Analysis, Report) review method. This study concludes the list of smart farming technologies for coffee that have the potential to be applied in Indonesia. Those technologies are classified based on their application scope: quality control (including subtopics like coffee quality control), climate monitoring, the anticipation of pest organisms, and coffee processing), coffee production planning, and coffee waste utilization. Regarding infrastructure readiness and the need for smart farming technology for coffee, the island of Java has the most potential for implementing smart farming for coffee as soon as possible. The high potential for application in Java is because the telecommunications technology infrastructure is ready, and the land area and coffee production are large.

Abstract

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world that cause a lot of mortality. Early cancer detection is crucial to decrease morbidity and mortality rates worldwide. Effective treatment or early intervention is crucial before the disease becomes more incurable. This research contributes to proposing a THz imaging system for early cancer detection, especially breast cancer, by using the benefit of THz radiation. Some approaches are made differently from the previous research, such as the imaging method, the antenna type, and the material for the antenna with the expectation of producing an efficient system and better imaging results. The system consists of one microstrip antenna as a transmitter, 25 horn antenna as a receiver and a breast tissue model. All antenna is designed to meet the requirement specification. The receiver antenna will receive power from the transmitter which will vary due to the absorption of the breast model. The received power will be visualized into a 2D color image. The simulation was able to visualize an image of the breast tissue model. Received power varies from -16.280 dB to -55.241 dB which leads to different color levels to represent the model. Antenna radiation patterns also take a role to cause the phenomenon occurred that leads to differentiation of the breast tissue type. Based on the results, this research has able to simulate a THz imaging system for breast cancer. Further modification to the system can be done to improve the imaging results.

Abstract

Visible light communication emerged as the solution to overcome limitations exist in RF-based communication system. Although many research has been done on VLC, there are still a lot room for improvements, especially in the design of the VLC itself. This study discusses a simple visible light communication system design that transmits temperature and humidity information. The system uses Array 2×2 LED configuration to transmit data and photodiode to receive the optical signal. Raspberry Pi is used as the signal processor. The research carried out variations in the color of LED used, variations in the method of synchronization, and variations in the data rate transmission with BER value as the main parameter to be analyzed. The research contribution is to propose a simple visible light communication design that transmit and receive information in reference to room temperature and humidity using Raspberry Pi and DHT-11 sensor, while also implementing two synchronization methods to maximize synchronization in transmission thus minimizing the BER value in higher bit rate. The LED used is blue with an average voltage of 0.0423 V for bit ‘1’ and 0.00448 V for bit ‘0’. The throughput can be achieved are within range 1bps to 10 kbps with BER 0.5 as a threshold. The implementation of the synchronization method decreases the average BER value by 0.0945 with the implementation of transmission calibration synchronization and decreases the average BER value by 0.1221 using the MQTT communication protocol. In conclusion, the design has limitations through the component used in the transmitting and receiving end with BER values relatively high. Further research for system development can be done by implementing Forward Error Correction to minimize errors that occur in the transmission and collaborating with vendors with same research field for the latest components for VLC system design.

Abstract

The telecommunication sector mainly comprises operators, vendors, and regulators. In Indonesia, tele- communications operator companies tend to decrease profits from the first quarter of 2017 to the third quarter of 2018. This condition is due to the tight competition of telecommunication service providers, high operational costs, and digital transformation that does not provide substantial revenue for the company. Telecommunica- tions operators need other service options that can expand target market segmentation. It aims to open up a new blue ocean as a new source of income. The world is getting closer to massive communication technology, so high-speed communication is needed. Therefore, telecommunications operators can open new service options based on the visible light spectrum as their communication resources. This option can be integrated with ambient lighting, a wide spectrum ranging from radio waves, and greater bandwidth, making visible light suitable for IoT- 5G services. This research aims to design a wireless visible light communication business model. Several frame- works are used, such as the magic triangle of St. Gallen, Osterwalder Business Model Canvas, and PESTLE analysis. The business model design results in a business model with B2B market segmentation being the main focus and B2C market segmentation to acquire retail customers.

Abstract

Optical fiber can meet the demand for fronthaul on 5G networks that offer high bandwidth, large capacity, high data rate and is free from electromagnetic interference. However, deploying infrastructure faces issues like permits and high costs. Hybrid Radio over Fiber (RoF) technology with Radio over Free Space Optic (RoFSO) can be a solution in urban areas, where the installation requires high costs. This research investigates a hybrid RoF-RoFSO scheme at a frequency of mmWave 26 GHz by considering atmospheric attenuation values arising from meteorological effects, such as rain, smog, and dust,  using Optisystem. This research considers QPSK, 16-QAM, and 64-QAM modulation schemes, distance variations on the FSO and the meteorological data from the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) from March 2022 to May 2022. The results show that attenuation due to high rainfall is the main cause of signal quality degradation and limits the transmission distance on the FSO link. The maximum distance is 600 m using the QPSK and 16-QAM modulation schemes, while for the 64-QAM modulation scheme, the maximum transmission distance is 500 m. Meanwhile, damping values caused by foggy and dusty conditions can reach distances of up to 1000 m for the three modulation schemes.

Abstract

The continuous development of information and communication technology has brought rapid changes, especially developments in cellular technology, starting with 1G and reaching the fifth development in 2020, 5G. This development continues, as evidenced by the start of 6G technology development in early 2020. The Terahertz (THz) spectrum, which has not been used optimally so far for communication technologies, is one candidate to support the next cellular technology developments. THz Waves offers far wider bandwidth than the existing technologies. Apart from the advantages of THz wave radiation, this research studies THz wave radiation intensity and its potential for communication. By calculating the Atmospheric Attenuation, FSPL and considering the minimum received power of user equipment (UE), THz wave radiation characteristics will be more optimal for use less than 500 meters at 0.1 THz and less than 100 meters at 3 THz. The highest Power density of THz radiation is 7.99 × 10-11 Watt/m2 when using 0.1 THz as frequency and a power transmitter of 10 Watts. The results show that exposure to THz waves in communication applications is safe and acceptable for practical communication use.
