Abstract

This study analyzes the wage payment system in the cracker industry in Panyabungan from the perspective of Imam Maliki's thoughts. Wage payment practices in this industry often do not align with the principles of justice and agreements prescribed in Islam, necessitating an in-depth examination. This study employs a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews with workers and business owners, and literature studies on Imam Maliki's views regarding wage systems. The findings indicate that the wage payment system in the cracker industry in Panyabungan tends to be non-transparent and is often implemented on a daily basis without written contracts. From Imam Maliki’s perspective, this system has shortcomings as it does not fully ensure workers' rights. Discussions with business owners revealed that economic factors and production efficiency are the primary reasons for maintaining this practice. This study reveals that although the wage system in the cracker industry has been practiced for generations, it still does not fully comply with the principles of justice in Islam according to Imam Maliki. This research has limitations in terms of geographical coverage and the number of participants. Therefore, future research can expand the study area and compare wage payment systems with the perspectives of other Islamic schools of thought.

Abstract

This article explores the role of Islam in fostering social harmony within the diverse community of Nagajuang Subdistrict, Mandailing Natal Regency, where the population is predominantly non-Muslim. This research employs a qualitative method with a case study design and a descriptive-analytical approach. The study investigates social interactions between Muslims and Christians and identifies key factors that support peaceful coexistence. The research data were collected from the community of Nagajuang Subdistrict, Mandailing Natal Regency, North Sumatra, which represents a valuable case of interfaith harmony. The data consist of interview transcripts with religious leaders, traditional leaders, and community members; field notes from participatory observation of daily interactions; and textual data from local archives and reports on interfaith relations. These data were collected through purposive sampling based on the informants’ involvement in interreligious and community activities. Thematic analysis was employed, involving data reduction, categorization into themes such as harmony factors, challenges, and the role of Islam, followed by conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that Islamic values of moderation, such as rahmatan lil ‘alamin and wasatiyyah, are practiced to promote tolerance and unity. Local cultural traditions emphasizing mutual cooperation (gotong royong) further strengthen social bonds across religious lines. Despite this harmony, challenges like religious intolerance and socio-economic inequality persist. This study highlights the significance of combining Islamic values with local cultural wisdom to support multicultural coexistence. It offers practical recommendations for strengthening multicultural education and promoting collaboration among government bodies, religious institutions, and communities. Nagajuang serves as a model of successful interfaith harmony, contributing valuable insights into social integration in diverse societies.

Abstract

Online shopping transactions using the TikTok Shop media often experience problems and poor service quality from the business actors. It is because they commonly commit fraud in online shopping with the TikTok Shop media. It is due to the absence of a direct meeting between the seller and the buyer, the size and color of the goods purchased do not match, the dishonesty of the business actors about the goods being sold, and the consumer's lack of understanding of the details of the product ordered. For this reason, consumer rights must be protected by the provisions of laws and regulations. This study analyses consumer protection in online shopping transactions through the TikTok Shop media based on Law Number 8 of 1999 and Law Number 1 of 2024. This study used empirical jurisprudence with a sociological normative approach. The type of data used is primary data. The results of the study indicate that there are aspects of legal protection for online consumers, as shown by Consumer Protection Law Number 8 of 1999 and Electronic Information and Transactions Law (ITE) Number 11 of 2008. The law provides fundamental rights for consumers, such as the right to security, accurate information, and compensation for non-conforming products. The results indicate the importance of implementing the principles of transparency and responsibility among online business actors to prevent consumer losses. Adequate consumer protection can increase consumer trust in e-commerce and encourage business actors to be more responsible in running their businesses.
