Abstract

Even though community participation was a crucial component of sustainable tourism, actual community participation was hard to achieve in developing countries. Only a few studies explored the local community participation in tourism villages. In response to this gap, this article explored owners’ participation to sustain their homestays. The research was built on descriptive and qualitative methods. The data were gathered by semi-structured interviews, participant observation, field notes, and photography. A sample population (6 persons) that include rural people and managers from a village. The result showed that cleanliness awareness was the homestay owners’ fundamental problem. The study also revealed that the homestay owners had not elaborated on their cultural uniqueness to create an unforgettable experience. They tried hard to design their homestays based on their knowledge rather than visitors’ demands. The external parties’ intervention, such as scholars, had to support the homestay owners to gain new insight into hospitality attitudes. Keywords: Community Involvement, Empowerment, Local Wisdom

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of service quality dimensions on customer interest in returning to the Veteran Payakumbuh Bintaro Restaurant. The background to this research is driven by the importance of service quality in the culinary industry to increase customer satisfaction and build loyalty. This research uses a quantitative approach with a multiple regression method involving four independent variables (responsiveness, assurance, empathy, physical evidence) and one dependent variable, namely interest in returning to visit. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires with a Likert scale to 100 respondents selected by accidental sampling. The research results show that all dimensions of service quality have a significant influence on intention to revisit, with responsiveness having the greatest influence. The variables of assurance, empathy and concrete evidence also contribute significantly to increasing customer interest in returning. Based on these findings, it is recommended that restaurant managers increase staff responsiveness, provide assurance and empathy training, and ensure that the physical condition of the restaurant is always maintained. Customers are encouraged to provide constructive feedback and create a positive experience during their visit. Thus, good service quality can strengthen customer loyalty and increase the frequency of return visits.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of service quality, consisting of five SERVQUAL dimensions, on guest satisfaction at Horison Hotel Bandar Lampung. A quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis was employed in this study. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 100 respondents staying at the hotel and were analyzed using validity tests, reliability tests, coefficient of determination tests, partial tests, and simultaneous tests. The results showed that all five dimensions of service quality had a significant effect on guest satisfaction. The tangibles dimension had an impact due to the comfortable and modern physical appearance of the hotel, reliability due to service consistency, responsiveness related to the speed and accuracy of staff responses, assurance related to guests’ sense of security and trust in staff, and empathy reflected in personal attention to guests. Based on these findings, it is recommended that hotel management continue to improve service quality by paying attention to these five dimensions to enhance guest satisfaction and loyalty. Guests are also encouraged to provide constructive feedback so that the hotel can continuously improve its service quality.
