Abstract

This study aims to collect information related to the perception of prospective physics teacher students on the subject matter of Basic Physics 2 course. This type of research is survey research with the descriptive statistics analysis. The research instrument was a questionnaire with a research sample of 90 physics teacher candidates spread across three grade levels and had contracted Basic Physics 2 course. The purpose of this information gathering was as a basis for determining the topic of the material to be studied further. The topics covered in this study include electric field, electric potential, capacitor, dielectric, electric current, magnetic field, magnetic induced, alternative current, wave properties, interference and diffraction, geometric optics, optical instruments, optical instruments, quantum physics, and atomic models. The results showed that the subject matter in the subject matter of Basic Physics 2 course which was perceived as very difficult and difficult was topics related to electricity and magnetism. The subject of magnetic field is perceived as very difficult and difficult by 62% and 38% of students, respectively. On the subject of electric current, magnetic effect, and alternating current, half of all students are perceived as difficult. The subject of electric current is considered difficult by 53% of students and very difficult by 29% of students, the subject of magnetic effects is perceived as difficult by 48% of students and 46%, while the subject of alternating current is considered difficult by 40% of students and very difficult by 42% student. The implication of the results of this study is to design a learning assessment strategy that can accommodate students to easily understand the subject matter of Basic Physics 2.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in grades X-4 of SMA Nurul Muslim Batealit in the subject of Physics measurement material with calipers. In addition, the limitations of adequate experimental tools. This study was conducted in 2022 in class X-4 of Nurul Muslim High School with the number of samples in this study being 34 students with a composition of18 boys and 16 girls. The purpose of this study is to determine the improvement of learning outcomes and the adequacy of the use of learning techniques and media on student learning outcomes after the implementation of virtual-based practicum learning strategies. The method used in this study is classroom action research consisting of 2 learning improvement cycles that emphasize learningimprovement using virtual-based practicum methods. The research instrument used is in the form of teacher performance observation sheets and test questions to measure student learning outcomes. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively by comparing the initial conditions and learning conditions in each cycle. The results showed that the percentage of student learning outcomes increased from precycle to cycle II by 47%, which in the pre-cycle percentage of student learning completeness was 29% and in cycle II was 76%. So the application of virtual-based practicum methods can improve student learning outcomes in grades X-4 of SMA Nurul Muslim Batealit. For this reason, the application of virtual-based practicum methods can be applied as an alternative to other materials that require practicum and can also be applied to other schools.

Abstract

The low ability to solve problems in the motion of objects material and its application from theresult of problem- solving ability (50% under the KKM) encourages researchers to gain improvements tolearning. Learning improvement aims to improve students' problem-solving skills in science learning,especially motion material. For teachers as an effort to increase performance by using a problem-basedlearning approach, the learning process will become meaningful, and students will become active inlearning. After applying the problem-based learning model and using demonstration and experimentalmethods in cycles 1 and 2, it turned out that students were motivated to learn, and 83% of studentsachieved KKM. The conclusion is the application of the problem-based learning model in science learningabout the motion of objects and its application can improve the problem-solving abilities of class VIIIstudents.

Abstract

The emergence of various interesting videos when accessing the internet, makes students more comfortable watching videos compared to opening textbooks. On the other hand, the science learning outcomes of grade VII A students of Darul Muta'allimin Junior High School were found that only 10.34% of students were able to achieve KKM (>75). The study aims to implement the assignment of heat material without using paper (paperless) but using video media which is expected to increase student activity and learning outcomes of grade VII A students at SMP Darul Muta'allimin for the 2022/2023 school year. The research method used is classroom action research in the form of pre-cycle activities and carried out in 2 cycles with student activity observation instruments and student learning outcomes evaluation sheets. Analysis of the average learning outcomes of grade VII A students has increased significantly, from 54.14 to 78.96. The percentage of class learning completeness reached 79.31%. The number of students completed is 23 students. Students show readiness and activeness in participating in learning activities after getting video assignments. There are 6 students who have not been able to complete their learning influenced by several factors, namely internal factors (interests, talents, motivation, learning methods, psychological aspects) and external factors (social environment, friendships, and family). The results showed that giving video assignments was able to improve student learning outcomes on temperature, heat, and expansion material at SMP Darul Muta'allimin.

Abstract

Motivated by the low science score of grade VIII.5 students of SMP Negeri 1 Jejawi on the human digestive system material which slightly reached the KKM score, due to students' understanding of the human digestive system material is still very low. This is what encourages learning improvement by focusing on improving teacher performance in using the PBL learning model with charta media on the human digestive system material. Learning improvement aims to increase students' understanding of the material of the Human Digestive System. This research was conducted in grade VIII.5 of SMP Negeri 1 Jejawi, Ogan Komering Ilir regency in the odd semester of 2022. The method used in this study is Classroom Action Research which is divided into two cycles of learning improvement. The instruments taken are in the form of student evaluation results and observation sheets of student activities during learning. Analysis of the results of student learning evaluation of 28 grade VIII.5 students, namely the percentage of classical student completeness of 10.7% in the first cycle, and in the second cycle increased by 43%. Based on the results of both cycles, science evaluation scores for grade VIII.5 students of SMP Negeri 1 Jejawi were obtained, the material of the human digestive system has increased. To improve the grades of students who are not optimal, it is recommended to make improvements to the third cycle of learning.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low scores obtained by grade 8 students of Bintang Mulia Junior High School in Science-Physics subjects about simple harmonic vibrational materials. The influence of teachers who are very dominant and students who are less active causes a lack of student understanding of the subject matter, resulting in 52% of students obtaining scores below KKM 71. This is what encourages learning improvements that emphasize improving teacher performance in using teaching aids and applying the STAD type learning model. Learning improvement aims to increase students' understanding in science learning, especially harmonious vibration material. This research was conducted in grade 8 of Bintang Mulia Junior High School, Bandung city in the first semester of 2022. The method carried out in this study is Classroom Action Research which consists of two cycles of learning improvement. The instruments used in this study were teacher performance reflection sheets and student learning outcomes tests. Data from teacher performance research in applying learning outcomes were also obtained student learning results about harmonic vibrations from cycle I (73.4) and cycle II (91.4). After teachers improve their performance by using the Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) learning model and using teaching aids in the 1st and 2nd cycle learning process, it can be concluded that there is an increase in student learning outcomes. Thus improving teacher performance using the Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) learning model can be applied in other materials and in other schools.

Abstract

Indonesia adalah salah satu negara yang berada pada jalur Ring of Fire, yaitu jalur yang dilalui pegunungan aktif. Posisi wilayah Indonesia inilah yang membuat wilayah Indonesia rentan mengalami gempa bumi. Daerah jawa barat dilalui oleh banyak patahan. Pergesaran patahan inilah dikatakan sebagai penyebab terjadinya gempa di Cianjur pada tanggal 21 November 2022. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan mengenai mitigasi bencana gempa bumi yang meliputi langkah sebelum terjadi gempa bumi, saat terjadi gempa bumi, sesaat setelah gempa bumi sampai dengan langkah pasca gempa bumi terjadi. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan di SDN Sukamaju 1 Cianjur sebagai mitra. Peserta yang dilibatkan adalah siswa dan guru sebagai pendamping. Metode penyampaian materi mitigasi bencana gempa bumi adalah ceramah yang dilakukan dengan pemaparan materi secara interaktif dengan adanya tanya jawab serta kuis disela-sela pemaparan. Dilakukan juga simulasi gempa bumi dengan media lagu. Untuk mengetahui adanya peningkatan pengetahuan siswa terhadap materi mitigasi bencana gempa bumi, dilakukan pre-test untuk mengetahui pengetahuan awal siswa dan post-test untuk mengetahui pengetahuan siswa setelah mengikuti pemaparan materi. Hasilnya menunjukan rata-rata skor pre-test adalah 5,10 sedangkan rata-rata skor post-test adalah 7,43. Dapat disimpulkan dari kegiatan ini ada peningkatan pengetahuan mengenai mitigasi bencana gempa bumi berdasarkan peningkatan rata-rata skor pre-test dan post-test. Diharapkan peningkatan pengetahun siswa dapat mengurangi resiko bencana gempa bumi dan korban jiwa.

Abstract

Saat ini dunia Pendidikan menghadapi berbagai tantangan diantaranya tantangan literasi digital dan literasi media. Guru yang memiliki keterampilan literasi yang baik memiliki dampak yang signifikan pada pembelajaran siswa. Siswa SD mengalami perkembangan dari aspek kognitif, emosional, afektif, psikomotor dan social melalui kegiatan bermain dan belajar. Oleh karena itu dibutuhkan media yang mampu memenuhi kebutuhan perkembangan para siswa. Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat yang dilakukan merupakan bagian dari program desa Binaan Universitas Terbuka. Tujuan dari kegiatan PKM ini untuk memberikan pelatihan perancangan e-game for learning untuk meningkatkan literasi media guru SD Desa Situ Udik Cibungbulang. Fokus pengembangan yang dilakukan adalah peningkatan kapasitas SDM guru-guru tingkat sekolah dasar sebanyak 18 orang untuk merancang elektonik game dalam pembelajaran. Peserta pelatihan dipilih berdasarkan kriteria dengan rincian diantaranya: tingkat pengalaman mengajar, keahlian teknologi, dan minat terhadap integrasi game dalam pembelajaran. Pelatihan daring dilaksanakan melalui platform MOOCs yang interaktif dan melalui zoom. Proses evaluasi dilakukan secara formatif dan sumatif. Peserta dinilai melalui tugas daring, partisipasi dalam sesi luring, dan proyek pengembangan game dalam pembelajaran. Berdasarkan hasil kegiatan PKM dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan pelatihan electronic-game dalam pembelajaran di sekolah tersebut dapat meningkatkan literasi media peserta pelatihan. Pelatihan dalam merancang electronic games memberikan kesempatan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan teknologi guru yang mencakup pemahaman tentang platform game, perangkat lunak desain game, dan penggunaan elemen-elemen teknologi dalam konteks pembelajaran.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to enhance the competence of physics teachers in Banten Province in utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support innovative and effective teaching practices. The training involved 15 participants and covered topics such as lesson planning using ChatGPT and Canva, creating instructional media with InVideo AI, translating teaching materials with DocTranslator and Deepl, and processing learning outcomes using AI tools. The program was implemented over three days through interactive workshops, practical sessions, and evaluations. Based on the survey results, 90% of participants rated the material quality as excellent, and 92% rated the facilitators’ skills as very good. Additionally, 95% of participants found the training highly beneficial for enhancing their teaching practices. The findings indicate that the training successfully met its objectives and inspired participants to adopt AI in their educational practices. Recommendations include conducting follow-up training and providing implementation support for integrating AI in schools.

Abstract

Atomistic simulation based on computational physics of methods is used to develop accurate interatomic potentials based on DFT (density functional theory) data. The accuracy of predicting the physical properties of a material is highly dependent on the quality of the interatomic potential used. The purpose of this study is to determine the Lennard-Jones potential parameters of Al metal (epsilon and sigma) from fitting the DFT simulation output data. The use of a “robust” fitting method to reduce the influence of outliers on the potential results is very important and therefore a machine learning method is used to help find the right potential parameters. The method used is a hybrid method using DFT to generate training data, using ML (machine learning) to fit DFT data to the Lennard-Jones (LJ) potential model, and using the MD (molecular dynamics) method to validate the LJ potential parameters. Python-based programming is applied to facilitate how the three methods can be connected. The results of this study are that Al metal has an epsilon value = 0.5000 eV and sigma Al = 3.2072 Å, with a regression coefficient R2 = 0.9441 so that it can be concluded that this study can be said to be quite good and the hybrid method can be further developed to obtain the LJ potential parameter values of various other materials, especially metals.
