Abstract

The aims of the research were (1) to find out whether tembelek (lantana camara)plants could be used as the basic material of mosquito repellent lotion; (2) to findput how to make mosquito repellent lotion from tembelek (lantana camara) plants;and (3) to find out whether the mosquito repellent lotion made of tembelek (lantanacamara) plants were safe for the skin. The research method was an experimental one. The research was conducted atSamirono CT IV/160, analysis chemistry laboratory of Ahmad Dahlan University, danlaboratorium Chemix Bantul for five months. The subjects were various kinds of mosquitosand the objects of the research were the tembelek (Lantana camara) plants. Thesteps in this research were (1) observing; (2) experimenting the making of mosquitorepellent lotion; and (3) testing the product. The findings showed that Lantana camara could be used as the material ofmaking the lotion. Three types of lotion were produced with different levels of extracts, namely 10%, 20%, and 30% to get the best formula. Based on the result of theorganoleptic and effectiveness tests in repelling mosquitos, it was found out that thelotion with the extract level of 20% proved to be good in terms of color, smell, texture, safety for the skin and effectiveness in repelling mosquitos.

Abstract

The development of the batik and woven bag business world is increasingly demanding that all business actors be more mature in managing their businesses. Business management plays an important role in the success of increasing income and business sustainability. Batik Talunombo is a pioneer of batik motifs Carica, Purwaceng, and Candi Dieng, which uphold local wisdom. While woven jali bags are a new business with modern bags that use synthetic and economical materials. However, the fact is that the business being run is not well organized. The ability of planning, marketing, HR management, and product innovation is not yet optimal. The impact is that the product is not sold every day. Seeing this, the Implementation Team, through the PPK Ormawa UNSIQ community service activities, carried out business management mentoring activities in Talunombo village, Sapuran District. This community service was carried out by 18 woven jali bags and batik Carica business actors. During the mentoring, the positive and enthusiastic response of the participants who participated reached a 100% attendance percentage. The increase in participant abilities during the training was proven by the ability to work on pretest and posttest questions given in the moderate category. Meanwhile, for its derivative products, innovations have been created for derivative products of batik carica lestari and celosia into the Az Zahra batik carica cluster. Its marketing through Instagram has increased. The impact of this activity is that training participants understand the material on planning, organizing, actualizing, and controlling businesses well, carrying out product innovation, and evaluating products periodically so that the businesses they run can grow, compete, and be sustainable.

Abstract

This study investigated the utilization of tobacco stem waste as a green precursor for the synthesis of GO, C-Dots, and GO/C-Dots composites with 1:1 and 1:3 ratios through oven drying methods and liquid sonication exfoliation (LSE). Characterization techniques, including UV-Vis-NIR spectroscopy, XRD, FTIR spectroscopy, SEM, PL, and TRPL, were used to evaluate the synthesized materials. The GO/C-Dots composites exhibited an energy band that classifies them as organic semiconductors. XRD analysis showed a change in crystallinity and indicated an increase in C-Dots content. FTIR analysis showed a shift in functional groups at 1:1 to 1:3 ratios that showed an inverse trend. SEM analysis showed that the addition of C-Dots significantly affected the surface morphology and elemental composition of GO. TRPL test showed consistent results with the trend of PL intensity where C-Dots had the highest value and GO the lowest. This finding highlights the potential of GO/C-Dots composites as sustainable materials, with further exploration needed to assess their applications in various fields such as optoelectronics, catalysis, and environmental science.
