Abstract

This paper discusses the potential of tin mining in the IUP Laut DU 1562 area in East Belitung Regency. However, this potential is difficult to realize due to regulatory constraints, especially after the Bangka Belitung Province ratified Regional Regulation Number 3/2020 regarding RZWP3K which does not include this area as a mining area, but a fishing zone. Therefore, an inclusive and sustainablity study is needed for the utilization of marine space to provide benefits for the country, local governments, society, and minimize environmental impacts. In this study, PT Timah TBK conducted data and information collection stages and analysis stages, including discussions with related stakeholders, direct observations in the field, and related official documents. The result of this study is the development of three development scenarios, namely inclusive tin mining, exclusive tin mining, and non-tin mining. These scenarios are then analyzed using the Promethee method to produce policy recommendations.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the long-term and short-term relationship between inflation, interest rates, exchange rates, and economic growth to the demand for money in Indonesia. The method used in this study is Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL). The Data used are money demand, inflation, interest rates, exchange rates, GDP in Indonesia for the period 2015-2021. The results of this study are inflation has a positive relationship and significantly affects the demand for money, interest rates have a negative relationship and does not affect significantly, the exchange rate has a positive relationship, while GDP has a positive relationship in the short term, but in the long term has a negative relationship and does not affect significantly.  Policymakers should develop and implement comprehensive long-term economic plans that prioritize sustainable growth. This may include initiatives to diversify the economy, enhance productivity, improve infrastructure, and promote investments to foster a stable economic environment that minimizes adverse effects on the demand for money in the long run. This research can help monetary authorities determine appropriate policies to maintain economic stability, such as collaborating with the government in overcoming market failures with the aim of achieving price stability.

Abstract

Enhancing the financial sector is paramount, as it can bolster public trust in financial institutions and consequently expand financial inclusion, particularly within the MSMEs sectors. This study employs the ARCH Maximum Likelihood Model to examine the impact of the banking industry’s financial soundness and macroeconomic conditions on the financial inclusion of MSMEs. The financial soundness of banks is gauged through pertinent financial metrics, including capital adequacy, profitability, credit risk, and liquidity. Moreover, the financial inclusion metric employs the count of account credits per 1,000 adults. The findings reveal that capital, credit risk, and liquidity exert a significant influence on financial inclusion, while profitability and inflation exhibit no significant impact. Furthermore, capital, credit risk, liquidity, and inflation affect MSMEs’ credit, with profitability showing no significant impact. The practical implications derived from these findings underscore the critical importance of upholding the soundness of the banking sector to foster greater financial inclusion in Indonesia. Indonesia should strategically target its efforts toward enhancing the availability of diverse financial products and services tailored to the needs of its MSMEs. By expanding the array of financial products and services for MSMEs, banks stand to access reliable sources of funds for their lending activities.

Abstract

This study aims to test the validity of the Structure Conduct and Performance (SCP) hypothesis on banking profitability in Indonesia. This research data comes from banking financial statements from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and Bank Indonesia. The analysis method uses the panel data regression method. The banking industry studied includes 110 conventional commercial banks and Islamic banks from 2010-2019. This research has found that the profitability performance of the banking industry is statistically significantly influenced by concentration, market share, cost efficiency to generate revenue, bank size, net interest income margin, Bank Indonesia's benchmark interest rate, and economic growth. Meanwhile, inflation is insignificant. The contribution of the research was to develop of Structure Conduct Performance (SCP) theory. The SCP is applicable to Indonesian banking and it is the Hybrid of the Efficient-Structure Traditional Hypothesis which states that the effects of efficiency and market concentration have improved banking profitability performance. The combination of structure, market share, and efficiency supports the hypotheses on Efficiency and SCP Traditional. High banking profitability due to the combination of efficiency and market concentration formed by increased assets and mergers. Therefore, OJK and Bank Indonesia in encouraging asset improvement through future mergers can improve efficiency, the competitiveness of the banking industry, the and economic stability of Indonesia.

Abstract

Indonesia, the largest archipelagic country in the world with rich marine biodiversity, has significant potential for developing a blue economy encompassing aquaculture, sustainable fisheries, and maritime tourism. However, if not managed sustainably, these activities could increase CO2 emissions. Indonesia is also among the world's highest emitters of greenhouse gases, largely due to deforestation, forest burning for agriculture, and reliance on fossil fuels in the energy sector. Given global commitments to reducing emissions and mitigating climate change, this research explores how the blue economy and the transition to renewable energy can contribute to lowering CO2 emissions. This study examines both short- and long-term impacts using the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) approach. The findings reveal that while increased aquaculture production initially reduces CO2 emissions due to efficiency gains and environmentally friendly technologies, its long-term effects are more complex and may lead to higher emissions. On the other hand, renewable energy consumption significantly reduces CO2 emissions in the short and long term. Conversely, higher energy intensity contributes to increased CO2 emissions, which can be mitigated through improved energy efficiency.
