Abstract

The development of generic drug consumption in Indonesia is relatively slow. This is because generic drugs are still underestimated by stakeholders for various reasons, the most classic and fundamental is quality. So it is necessary to test the dissolution rate of a drug preparation, so that the dissolution test can be a method to prove the quality of a preparation including generic and branded rifampicin tablets. Objective: To find out how the good dissolution profile onrifampicin tablets branded and with the logo and to find out how good the invivo and in-vitro correlation coefficient values are on the dissolution media. Results: There is no significant difference in DE45 between branded and generic rifampicin tablets, so the results obtained indicate that the brand and generic rifampicin tablets have the same efficacy and quality. Conclusion: The greater the dissolution time, the higher the dissolved rifampicin level. Where the DE45 value indicates the speed of drug dissolution into the medium approaching the in vivo drug absorption profile. The results show that there is no significant difference in DE45 between branded and generic rifampicin tablets, so that the results obtained indicate that the brand and generic rifampicin tablets have the same efficacy and quality. The data show a good correlation with the yield obtained from the dissolution medium containing 0.4% (w/v) sodium lauryl sulfate. Furthermore, the in vitro-in vivo correlation value obtained from the 0.4% (w/v) sodium lauryl sulfate solution medium was in accordance with the in vivo correlation coefficient. Then the 0.4% (w/v) sodium lauryl sulfate solution is a suitable dissolution medium for the fixed dose combination of rifampicin-isoniazid.

Abstract

Gedi plant (Abelmoschus manihot L. Medik) is a tropical plant of the Malvaceae family which has been known in North Sulawesi as a vegetable plant. Gedi plants have various medicinal benefits, such as antidiabetic, antimicrobial, anticancer, analgesic, antiinflammatory, antioxidant, and antiplasmodial activity. The ethanol extract of Gedi leaf had an analgesic activity which was orally administered in mice and the amount of its writhing is observed after being induced by heat. The data showed that the analgesic effect of Gedi leaf ethanol extract at a dose of 60 mg/30 g BB equivalent to a dose of 2000 mg/Kg BB was greater than the positive control dose or tramadol used. Other research also stated that the petroleum ether and methanol extracts of Gedi leaf showed flavonoids, steroids, and triterpenoids which had anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity. Petroleum ether and methanol extract of Gedi leaf at a dose of 400 mg kg -1 showed a maximum reaction time of 14.1 ± 0.21 and a minimum of 6.98 ± 0.29 which indicates a significant pain threshold.

Abstract

Chemical compounds found in the avocado leaf, include saponins, tannins, phlobatannins, flavonoids, alkaloids, and polysaccharides. Avocado leaf can be used as medicinal herbs for kidney stones and hypertension. Avocado leaf extract can reduce the formation of calcium oxalate monohydrate crystals, which is the main component of kidney stones and shows changes in morphology and crystal size. Other studies showed that avocado leaf extract effervescent tablets have a kidney stone laxative effect. Effervescent tablets were made from the ethanol extract of the avocado leaf with 3 variations in levels in each formula. The variations in the avocado leaf extract level used in formulas 1, 2, and 3 were 35, 65, and 100 mg in a row. The results showed that formula 3 with avocado leaf extract of 100 mg gave the most significant results as a kidney stone laxative when compared to other formulas.

Abstract

The dissolution test was conducted to determine the effect of the formulation andfabrication processes on the dissolution profile in estimating the bioavailability andbioequivalence between the test and comparison products. The comparable dissolutiontest used 3 different dissolution mediums were hydrochloric acid pH 1,2 or simulatedgastric fluid without enzymes, citrate buffer medium pH 4.5 and phosphate buffer medium pH 6.8 or simulated intestinal fluid without enzymes. The first study used 12 tablets of Panadol which were randomly selected. Then, the results were comparedusing two independent model methods were the difference factor (f1) and the similarity factor (f2). Based on this, the similarity factor in the three media is in the acceptablerange of 50-100. Another study conducted testing using acetaminophen samples purchased fromRochem, Turkey. The results obtained were in accordance with USP guidelines namelyconventional acetaminophen tablets should be released at at least 80% of the labeledamount in 30 minutes. In another study also compared the dissolution profile of 4 coatedand noncoated tablets. All formulations within the first 45 minutes had a drug release of more than 85%.

Abstract

Inflammation is a normal protective response to tissue injury caused by physical trauma, damaging chemical substances or microbiological substances. This study aimed to determine the potential anti-inflammatory activity of the ethanolic extract of the pencil cactus plant. The method used in this study was a literature study with a descriptive qualitative research type with a systematic literature review. The results showed that the ethanolic extract of the pencil cactus plant has anti-inflammatory activity by significantly reducing edema in the feet of rats.

Abstract

Kidney stones are a health disorder characterized by the appearance of stones in the uropoetic system. Kidney stones can cause infection and cause inflammation so that they can interfere with the smooth flow of urine. If urine flow is obstructed and there is accumulation of urine in the kidneys, it will cause a decrease in the physiological function of the kidneys. The purpose of this review journal is to determine the formulation and evaluation of avocado leaf effervescent tablets (Persea americana Mill.), The method of kidney stone decay test from avocado leaf effervescent tablets (Persea americana Mill.) In test animals, kidney stone decay test results from tablets. avocado leaf effervescent (Persea americana Mill.) in test animals, as well as the most effective dose used in the decay of kidney stones from avocado leaf effervescent tablets (Persea americana Mill.). Avocado leaves can be made as effervescent tablets to shed kidney stones because they dissolve more easily, are absorbed more quickly, and are more stable when compared to liquid preparations. Therefore, avocado leaf extract can be made into effervescent tablets to treat kidney stones.

Abstract

Starch is a polysaccharide carbohydrate which has inert, so it’s widely used as an excipient in the pharmaceutical industry. Starch is found in many organs in plants that serve as place to store the food reserves, one of which is the cocoyam (Xanthosoma sagittifolium), which in its tubers contains about 36% starch with quite high amylose and amylopectin content, namely 15.4% and 81.5%. The length of drying time results in different physical characteristics of starch, so it takes the right time to produce good physical characteristics of starch and according to requirements. The evaluation tests were carried to find out the physical characteristics of cocoyam, namely organoleptic test, identification test, microscopic test, water content test, and pH test. The result obtained that 1 day drying time can produce starch with good physical characteristics and according to requirements.

Abstract

Amilum merupakan polisakarida yang bersifat inert dan sering digunakan sebagai bahan pengisi, penghancur, dan pengikat dalam pembuatan sediaan tablet. Salah satu tanaman penghasil amilum adalah talas kimpul (Xanthosoma sagittifolium). Talas kimpul cenderung hanya dimanfaatkan sebagai makanan sampingan sehingga diperlukan penelitian lebih lanjut mengenai amilum yang dihasilkan talas kimpul. Karakteristik fisik amilum yang dihasilkan dipengaruhi oleh suhu pengeringan amilum. Pada penelitian ini pengeringan amilum dilakukan menggunakan lemari pengering. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh suhu pengeringan terhadap karakteristik fisik amilum talas kimpul. Uji evaluasi yang dilakukan untuk mengetahui karakteristik fisik amilum, yaitu uji identifikasi amilum, uji organoleptik, uji mikroskopik, uji kadar air, dan uji pH. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan suhu pengeringan berpengaruh terhadap kadar air dan pH, tetapi tidak berpengaruh terhadap identifikasi amilum, organoleptik, dan mikroskopik amilum

Abstract

Talas kimpul (Xanthosoma sagittifolium) memiliki kandungan pati yang sangat tinggi sebesar 68,50%. Kandungan pati yang dimiliki talas kimpul bisa digunakan sebagai bahan tambahan dalam bidang farmasi. Suhu pengeringan yang digunakan untuk pembuatan amilum talas kimpul harus tepat dan memberikan sifat farmasetik yang bagus sesuai persyaratan. Pengujian sifat fisik amilum yang dilakukan pada penelitian ini adalah uji identifikasi, uji organoleptis, uji mikroskopis, uji susut pengeringan dan uji pH. Hasil uji menunjukkan bahwa uji identifikasi menghasilkan warna biru, uji organoleptik menghasilkan amilum berwarna putih, tidak berbau, dan tidak berasa, dengan mikroskopik berbentuk bulat, mempunyai hilus yang ada di bagian tengah serta lamela yang tidaklah begitu jelas, suhu pengeringan dengan oven mempengaruhi sifat fisik amilum. Semakin meningkat suhu pengeringan menghasilkan pH yang meningkat, dan penurunan persentase susut pengeringan

Abstract

Hipertensi merupakan jenis penyakit kardiovaskuler di mana tekanan darah pasien melebihi batas normal, biasanya 120/80 mmHg serta umum dijumpai serta banyak penderitanya tidak mengetahui bahwa dirinya terkena hipertensi sehingga dikategorikan sebagai penyakit silent killer. Menurut beberapa penelitian, terapi ekonomis yang mudah ditemukan dan efektif untuk menurunkan tekanan darah tinggi adalah teh atau seduhan dari bunga rosella. Review artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi farmakologis bunga rosella (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) dalam terapi hipertensi. Penulisan review artikel ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan berbagai sumber literatur yang diperoleh dari Google Scholar, Researchgate, dan NCBI. Setelah melalui proses seleksi, terpilih lima artikel yang memenuhi kriteria mengenai potensi bunga rosella sebagai antihipertensi. Berdasarkan hasil studi literatur dari lima artikel terpilih, teh atau seduhan bunga rosella yang kaya akan antioksidan mampu melancarkan peredaran darah dengan mengurangi derajat pengentalan darah, dengan demikian jantung bekerja lebih mudah serta aliran darah baik sistolik maupun diastolik akan menurun secara signifikan. Mengkonsumsi teh atau seduhan bunga rosella dianggap sebagai alternatif yang efisien dalam mengurangi tekanan darah seseorang yang menderita hipertensi.
