Abstract

Literacy includes the ability to listen, speak, read, and write in a way that allows a person to communicate effectively. In addition, literacy also includes matters relating to vocabulary, spelling, understanding, language sounds, to the relationship between letters and sounds.In AKM, literacy focuses on reading ability which can be defined as an ability to understand, use, evaluate, and reflect on various types of written texts. This ability is developed so that students can deepen lessons or other knowledge more quickly and can apply the understanding gained more broadly in everyday life.Competencies assessed in reading literacy skills include logical and systematic thinking skills, reasoning with concepts and knowledge, as well as the ability to process the information obtained.Content in reading literacy includes informational texts and fictional texts. At the cognitive level, literacy skills are assessed from components including finding information, interpretation and integration, as well as evaluation and reflection. While in context, the components of reading literacy include personal, socio-cultural, and scientific.

Abstract

Asahan Regency is regency consisting of various local wisdom. The substances of local wisdom can be integrated in learning activities, one of them in the course of writing, especially writing genres. However, based on empirical studies obtained the integration of local wisdom, especially in the subject of writing has not been done by the lecturers. To perform such integration, it is necessary to do the mapping of local wisdom which is expected to become the basis of the development of instructional writing materials. The research used a library research. The researcher carried out the process of collecting data in the form of books in the Library, Archives and Documentation Offices. After the data collection, content analysis technique was used to comprehend the data. Then, the researcher analyzed data by studying the data in the books through inductive data and deductive data. The research found some local wisdom that can be formed in some genres. They are in the form of customs, ritual, traditional knowledge, art, and cultural heritage. The content of local wisdom in Asahan Regency can be mapped and preserved so that the results can be used as the basis of the development of instructional writing materials.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine whether there was an effect of using the Round Table Technique on Student’s ability in writing descriptive text at Tenth Grade of SMA Daerah Sei Bejangkar in Academic Year 2021/2022. This research used a quantitative approach, and used quasi experimental design. The research used two classes, namely the experimental group and the control group. The population of tenth grade SMA Daerah Sei Bejangkar were 84 students. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling and the samples were all students at tenth grade of SMA Daerah Sei Bejangkar. This research used two classes, namely the experimental group and the control group. The experimental group consisted of 42 students and the control group consisted of 42 students. The experimental group was taught by applying the round table technique and the control group was taught using the conventional technique. In addition, this research was carried out through the following procedures: giving pre-test, applying treatment and giving post- test. The results obtained from the research prove that the score of experimental group was higher than control group of students’ ability in writing descriptive text. Based on the calculation of the t-test is the score of product moment degree of freedom(df) N1+N2-2 or 42+42-2 = 82, the critical value of the t-table with a significant 0.05 is 1.66 and the t-test is 3.024. The writer concludes that t-test t-table. Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that there is an effect of using the Round Table Technique on students' ability in writing descriptive text at Tenth Grade of SMA Daerah Sei Bejangkar in Academic Year 2021/2022.

Abstract

Abstract: This socialization was provided for students as prospective teachers in overcoming students' lack of interest in reading. According to the results of Rapor Pendidikan Indonesia in 2023, especially the main indicator of students' literacy skills, which this year was 49.26%, decreased by 4.59 from 2021 (53.85%) (Ministry of Education, Culture, 2023). It also happenned in Indonesia in 2022 (UNESCO). Indonesia was still ranked 60th out of 70 countries. This shows that the literacy skills of Indonesian students are getting lower (Ramadhan, 2023). Of course, it is not much different in Asahan Regency. Based on the results of monitoring and evaluation of the Integrated School Field Introduction (PLPT) course activities in several schools in Asahan Regency in 2024, students' interest in reading texts was very low, which had an impact on their learning outcomes, especially in understanding reading. One of the causes is the teaching materials that are not interesting. Therefore, the integration of local wisdom into teaching materials needs to be done so that they become more interested and motivated. The integration in question was socialized to students as prospective teachers because the knowledge they gained will be conveyed and applied to their students later (Rosyada et al., 2022). Keywords: integration, reading literacy, reading interest, local wisdom Abstrak: Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberi pembekalan kepada mahasiswa sebagai calon guru dalam mengatasi kurang minatnya siswa untuk membaca. Menurut hasil Rapor Pendidikan Indonesia tahun 2023 terutama indikator utama kemampuan literasi siswa yang tahun ini 49,26% mengalami penurunan 4,59 dari 2021 (53,85%) (Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, 2023). Sama halnya dengan kemampuan literasi siswa Indonesia tahun 2022 (UNESCO). Indonesia masih berada pada peringkat ke-60 dari 70 negara. Ini menunjukan bahwa kemampuan literasi siswa Indonesia semakin rendah (Ramadhan, 2023). Tentu tidak jauh berbeda di Kabupaten Asahan. Berdasarkan hasil monitoring dan evaluasi pada kegiatan mata kuliah Pengenalan Lapangan Persekolahan Terpadu (PLPT) di beberapa sekolah di Kabupaten Asahan tahun 2024, minat siswa untuk membaca teks sangatlah rendah sehingga berdampak terhadap hasil belajar mereka terutama dalam memahami bacaan. Salah satu penyebabnya adalah bahan ajar yang kurang menarik. Oleh karena itu, pengintegrasian kearifan lokal ke dalam bahan ajar perlu dilakukan supaya mereka menjadi lebih tertarik dan termotivasi. Pengintegrasian yang dimaksud disosialisasikan kepada mahasiswa sebagai calon guru karena pengetahuan yang mereka peroleh akan disampaikan dan diterapkan kepada siswa mereka nanti (Rosyada et al., 2022).Kata kunci: integrasi, kearifan lokal, literasi membaca, minat membaca

Abstract

Penelitian tindakan kelas ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks eksposisi analitis melalui integrasi Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah (PBL) dan Pengajaran Responsif Budaya (CRT). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus yang melibatkan 32 siswa kelas sebelas di SMA Negeri 3 Kisaran. Kegiatan pembelajaran dirancang berdasarkan isu-isu budaya lokal yang relevan dengan latar belakang siswa. Hasilnya menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan dalam skor dan keterlibatan menulis siswa. Skor rata-rata meningkat dari 61,2 menjadi 84,5, dan 91% siswa mencapai nilai kelulusan. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa menggabungkan PBL dan CRT menciptakan kelas menulis bahasa Inggris yang bermakna, inklusif, dan efektif.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji efektivitas pendekatan Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) terhadap hasil belajar siswa dalam menulis teks Analytical Exposition. Dilakukan di kelas XI-6 di SMA Negeri 3 Kisaran dengan 36 siswa, penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan menggunakan One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Pendekatan TaRL diimplementasikan dengan mengelompokkan siswa berdasarkan tingkat kemampuan aktual mereka, yang memungkinkan instruksi yang lebih terarah dan adaptif. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes menulis dan dianalisis menggunakan uji normalitas Shapiro-Wilk dan analisis skor N-Gain. Hasilnya menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan dalam skor rata-rata dari 66,25 (pretest) menjadi 84,72 (posttest), dengan rata-rata N-Gain 0,550, dikategorikan sedang. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa TaRL cukup efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menulis siswa dan dalam mengatasi kesenjangan pembelajaran di kelas heterogen. TaRL juga mendorong keterlibatan, motivasi, dan pembelajaran mandiri siswa. Oleh karena itu, direkomendasikan untuk implementasi yang lebih luas dalam instruksi yang dibedakan.
