Abstract

The algorithm to allocate mesh active link to radio resource timeslot in wireless mesh network (WMN) is investigated. This paper proposes the novel method to allocate multiple links in one timeslot for improving the wireless mesh network throughput via spatial time division multiple access (STDMA) protocol. The throughput improvement is obtained by modifying greedy based algorithm that is widely known as a low complexity algorithm. We propose and investigate new parameters in the greedy based algorithm that can be used as scheduling control parameters, i.e. interference weight, scheduling weight, and the sum of link’s degree. Simulation results indicate that this approximation increases network performance in throughput and length of scheduling performance closed to the upper bound performance that is achieved by the algorithm that uses the physical interference model.

Abstract

A Chunk by chunk-based allocation is an emerging subcarrier allocation in Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access (SC-FDMA) due to its low complexity. In this paper, a combined user-order  and chunk-order allocation for solving chunk allocation problem which minimizes the average BER of all users while improving the throughput in SC-FDMA uplink is proposed. The subcarrier grouping into a chunk of all users on both-order allocations are performed by averaging the BER of a contiguous subcarriers within a chunk. The sequence of allocation is according to the average of users’ BER on user-order allocation and the average of chunks’ BER on chunk-order allocation. The best allocation is determined by choosing one of both-order allocations which provides the smaller BER systems. The simulation results showed that the proposed algorithm can outperform the previous algorithms in term of  average BER and throughput without increase the time complexity.

Abstract

In this paper, the problem of subcarrier allocation on chunk-by-chunk basis in SC-FDMA uplink systems is investigated. Improved mean enhanced greedy algorithms are proposed for performing joint-user and chunk-based allocation at each transmission time interval. Selection criteria based on spectral efficiency and fairness are also proposed to choose the final allocation at each transmission time interval. Simulation results show that when the number of users and the velocity of the users were varied, the improved algorithms that use selection criteria based on spectral efficiency and fairness could outperform the existing mean greedy algorithms that employ user-based allocation in terms of spectral efficiency and fairness. Moreover, the improved algorithms not only showed better performance but also had the same time complexity as the existing mean greedy algorithms.

Abstract

The high level of population and penetration of data users in Indonesia and the number of similar products that have an impact on the tariff war, on the network or network side also has constraints on the limited frequency spectrum, difficulty in building networks or infrastructure with regional demographics that can only be penetrated with satellites or fiber optics, so that with this merger it will be able to increase synergy, growth and increase market position and profit. With the merger of several MNOs, it will certainly be a threat for large MNO-A operators in Indonesia to respond to it with war games from the network or network side to continue providing services with a good and maximum network both in terms of quality and coverage. The benchmarking method as one of the model systems in this paper provides a comprehensive comparison between MNO so that they can provide flexible, simplification and also efficient network solutions that MNO-A can do by applying ORAN technology so that it can accelerate the integration process both in terms of infrastructure to compete with a smart investment. Furthermore, with ORAN, MNO-A can take a more efficient strategy both with basic strategy, optimal strategy, and an aggressive strategy to maintain the pace of competition of all MNO in designing a network, opening up the digital divide and face competition from the impact of this merger, including (i) application carried out in urban areas with an overlay method and (ii) application in rural areas with extension or complement methods, with different levels of efficiency and complexity.

The primary focus is on the application of AI technology in the ship information system, analyzing various aspects, including the potential implementation of AI in monitoring and analyzing maritime waters, technical and security challenges that may arise, expected benefits, and the strategic impact of AI implementation in Indonesia's maritime defense industry. The research method employs the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, providing a systematic and comprehensive approach to collecting, evaluating, and analyzing relevant literature in a specific field. This study involves literature searches using keywords such as artificial intelligence, information systems, maritime defense industry, Indonesian defense, and Indonesian Navy ships from 2011 to 2023 in various sources such as scholarly journals, conferences, and online databases. The research findings indicate that the use of artificial intelligence in the Indonesian Navy's ship information system has significant potential to improve maritime monitoring, threat detection, operational efficiency, and international collaboration. The integration of AI with advanced sensors such as radar, sonar, and thermal cameras enables more accurate real-time monitoring of activities in maritime waters. Higher accuracy in monitoring and threat detection also contributes to increased situational awareness and smarter decision-making by operational leaders in the Indonesian Navy. Despite the substantial benefits, AI implementation faces several challenges, including initial investment costs, infrastructure availability, personnel training, data security, ethical regulations, dependence on foreign technology, integration and compatibility issues, AI technology reliability, cultural and organizational changes, and long-term benefits. To address these challenges, it is recommended that the government allocates budgets wisely, develops adequate technological infrastructure, provides personnel training, and formulates ethical regulations. Strengthening independence in the development of domestic AI technology is also crucial.

Abstract

Technology development in the defense industry is directed at building the ability to produce Alpalhankam that meets the operational requirements standardized by the Ministry of Defense, namely high quality, weather resistance, accuracy, combat power, high speed and difficult to detect. PT Pindad as a State-Owned Enterprise engaged in the Defense Industry is capable of making quality munitions, but the packaging line for small caliber munitions is still done manually. Therefore, it is necessary to automate the munition packaging line. In this research, the author conducted research using quantitative research methods through the Feasibility Study approach. The results and objectives of this study accelerate the packaging process on the small caliber munitions production line which was originally partly done semi-manually to use full machine automation and be able to support production so as to accelerate the fulfillment of small caliber munitions demand. The steps that are considered necessary are by investing in machines to increase the ability to package small caliber munitions and minimize the occurrence of errors in the munition packaging process

Abstract

This research aims to explore key issues related to Indonesia's economic potential, particularly its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) reaching US$9.3 trillion. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) projections indicate that by 2030, Indonesia will be one of the top economic powers, competing with India and Brazil. The primary focus of the research is the defense sector as a strategic potential requiring a proactive response. The research objectives involve exploring the level of self-sufficiency in the defense industry, understanding challenges related to defense budget allocation, and identifying factors influencing global competitiveness. The research methodology is descriptive with a qualitative document-based approach, specifically focusing on strategic State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) within Defense ID, such as PT Len, PT Pindad, PT PAL, PT DI, and PT Dahana. Data analysis encompasses information from these SOEs, utilizing theoretical frameworks including Competitive Theory, Penta-Helix Theory, Defense Industry Cluster Concept, and Central Government Budgeting Model. Research findings indicate that SOEs within Defense ID can be considered self-sufficient in the global defense industry competitiveness. However, it is noteworthy that the Defense Budget allocation is still below 1% of the GDP, creating its own challenges. The conclusion of the research is that Indonesia has significant potential to develop a self-reliant defense industry capable of global competition. Recommendations include enhancing collaboration, developing Pentahelix or Septahelix concepts, and implementing Defense Industry Clustering to improve innovation, efficiency, and competitiveness in the sector. Additionally, the Defense Budget Allocation Policy significantly influences the progress of this industry, requiring proactive measures to ensure alignment with the desired economic growth. Thus, the research findings provide a foundation for the Government, Stakeholders, and Future Researchers to develop strategies and policies supporting optimal growth in the Indonesian Defense sector.
