Abstract

PT X is one of the companies that produces the Main Armament System (Alutsista) used by the Indonesian National Army. In an effort to meet the production needs of Assault rifle weapons, PT. X must meet the quality standards set by the Ministry of Defense to support the operational tasks of the Indonesian National Army. This study aims to improve the performance of the weapon production line by measuring and evaluating the amount of sigma value in long-barreled weapons. The method used in this research is DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control), which is a structured approach to quality improvement. This method is used to address problems that occur on the weapon production line and analyze improvements that can be made to improve production performance. The steps recommended in this study include using the Critical to Quality method to identify the causes of problems that occur in weapon production. Furthermore, the Cause and Effect method is used to rank the most significant causes of problems based on the scores obtained. The 5W+1H method is also used to formulate appropriate improvement proposals based on the ranking results from the Cause and Effect Matrix. Thus, it is expected that an effective improvement proposal can be found to improve the performance of PT. X weapon production line.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implications of the construction of the sea fence on maritime security, the environment, and the welfare of coastal communities. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive-analytical approach, utilizing secondary data from legal documents, official reports, scientific articles, and reliable news. The results of the study show that this sea fence violates various national regulations, such as the Regulation of the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries No. 28 of 2021 concerning KKPRL, Law No. 27 of 2007 concerning the Management of Coastal Areas and Small Islands, and Law No. 32 of 2009 concerning Environmental Protection. The ecological impacts are also significant, including the destruction of mangroves and marine biota habitats that threaten the sustainability of coastal ecosystems. There are indications of a conflict of interest related to this project, which allegedly involves a large property developer for reclamation without transparency and participation of local communities. Weak coordination between government agencies such as the KKP, TNI AL, and Bakamla RI has also exacerbated this situation. The construction of illegal sea fences not only harms coastal communities economically and socially, but also violates the law and threatens the sustainability of marine ecosystems. Concrete measures such as the dismantling of illegal sea fences, rehabilitation of coastal ecosystems, increased coordination between agencies, and the implementation of sustainability-based policies are needed to prevent similar cases in the future.

Abstract

The defense industry plays a strategic role in national security, yet environmental impacts are often overlooked. This study develops an integrated Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) framework that incorporates environmental sustainability indicators into critical processes such as ammunition assembly, combat vehicle painting, and explosives storage. A descriptive quantitative approach is applied using FMEA by assessing severity, occurrence, and detection, while also considering hazardous waste, emissions, energy use, and contamination risks. The results show that the failure mode with the highest Risk Priority Number (RPN) is process failure due to human error or non-standard procedures (RPN = 252). Other significant risks include hazardous waste (RPN = 200) and excessive energy/resource use (RPN = 175). These findings emphasize the need for operator training, integrated waste management, and regular energy audits. The study concludes that sustainability-integrated FMEA provides a comprehensive framework aligning operational reliability with ecological responsibility in the Indonesian defense industry.

Abstract

Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 16 of 2012 on Defense Industry, Article 51 paragraphs 1 and 2, states that the government can inject capital as an investment for the development and increase in production capacity of the Defense Industry owned by the state. One of the state-owned Defense Industry entities is PT PINDAD. State Capital Participation (PMN) is a government investment in State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) or Limited Liability Companies (PT) with the aim of increasing business capacity and capital structure. Although ideally the financial performance of BUMN improves after receiving PMN, in reality, some BUMN still incur losses. This research is conducted to examine the impact of PMN on the Defense Industry, especially PT PINDAD. This quantitative study uses numerical data from 2014-2019 with horizontal analysis to compare the financial ratios of PT PINDAD during that period. The results showed an improvement in the company's financial condition after receiving PMN, this can be seen from the increase in graphs and trends after 2015 and a significant increase in 2017 because in 2017, PT PINDAD received cash in the amount of Rp. 1,009,025,941,823, but in 2015 there was a decrease in several ratios, due to the disbursement of PMN at the end of the year which requires an appropriate allocation policy.
