Abstract

Background: Community-based case finding efforts of hyperthyroidism rather not to do, but constrained because accurate markers measurements using hormones.  TDQ as a screening instrument which meets several criteria for diagnostic tests, provide more convenience for the patient, cheaper, easier and simpler. This study aimed to determine the precision and accuracy of the diagnostic test of hyperthyroidism screening in childbearing age women.Subjects and Method: The study was a diagnostic study with the cross-sectional design. It conducted in Prambanan, Sleman, Yogyakarta. The sample consisted of 112 randomly selected of childbearing age women. Clinical symptoms of hyperthyroidism were measured using the TDQ, thyroid status measured by thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) and free thyroxin (FT4). TDQ diagnostic precision and accuracy were tested using the percent agreement (PA), Kappa coefficient, sensitivity (Se), specificity (Sp), LR (+), LR (-), Youden’s index, the area under the curve (AUC) in the receiver operating curve (ROC) and diagnostic odds ratio (DOR).Results: The best value in diagnostic precision is TDQ score with the cutoff point score of 40, with PA 81.2 % and Kappa coefficient 0.62. Similarly, the best accuracy value Se 90%, Sp 76%, LR(+) 3.75, LR(-) 0.13, Youden’s index 0.66, AUC 0.831 and DOR 28.8.Conclusion: The values and the optimal accuracy obtained from the best score of 40 and this cut off point of the score is sufficient to be used as a threshold determination of a diagnosis of hyperthyroidism by TDQ scores. Abstract

Indonesia has not been free from iodine deficiency, demonstrated by the increased prevalence oftotal goitre rate (TGR) from 9.8% in 1998, to 11.1% in 2003. New problem that occurs in endemic areas ofiodine deficiency is the presence of iodine excessive, one of them as the impact of universal salt iodizationprogram (USI) and iodiol supplementation in a long period of time. Both deficiency and excessive of iodinecan result in thyroid dysfunction. Impaired thyroid function is manifest broadly on biopsychosocial aspects, which is detrimental especially for childbearing women, as a determinant of survival and quality of life forfuture generations. Based on the measurement of TSH and FT4, were childbearing women who suffersubclinical hypothyroidism were 2%, subclinical hyperthyroidism were 26% and euthyroid were 76%.Biopsychosocial characteristics that can be described from hypothyroid subjects are visible goiter, puffyface, dry skin, fatigue, decreased concentration, menorrhagia, easily upset, depressed, apathetic and withdrawn.Meanwhile, the varying percentage of subjects with subclinical hyperthyroidism showed signs andsymptomsinclude a palpablegoiter, heat intolerance, exophthalmos, tiredness, pritibial edema, muscleweakness, delicated skin, poor memory, decreased concentration, menstrual disorders, decreased sexuallibido, anxiety, sleep disturbances, irritability, decreased motivation and decreased social activity.Thereforethatthe impact of thyroid dysfunction on a biopsychosocial characteristics, does not continue to secondarydiseases, efforts are needed to increase community awareness to recognize the signs and symptoms ofbiopsychosocialchanges. Therefore, the condition of iodine deficiency and excessive can be detected earlyandovercame with adequate therapy.

Abstract

Thyroid function disorders can affect the biological, psychological and social conditions of the sufferer. This study aimed at developing a thyroid dysfunction questionnaire (TDQ) based on a biopsychosocial phenomenon, which is the impact of hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. The development of this instrument began with identification of the measurement objectives, domains and items. The procedures of Thurstone Scaling were done with analysis of content validity using the Content Validity Ratio (CVR) and Content Validity Index (CVI), which were formulated by three experts of thyroid and endocrinology. Every item in the TDQ was determined through median analysis based on the valuation results done by 44 internists from hospitals and 44 doctors from Puskesmas (Public Health Center) with 11 categories of response (1-11). The results of CVR analysis ranged from 0.33 to 1.00 and the value of CVI was 78%. It showed that the experts had adequate rate of homogeneity to judge the relevance of the 33 items in TDQ. The median analysis showed that the 33 items of TDQ had scores ranging from 4 to 10. Thus, it was expected that the TDQ scores on this interval scale would facilitate observer to make an interpretation of the examination of thyroid function of the subjects. Abstract

Student well-being in the context of an elementary school in Indonesia has not been much studied. Accordingly, the effort of developing relevant indicators for revealing student well-being has not been done too. Along with the increase of public awareness of student well-being at school, appropriate tools to measure it is greatly needed. This study aimed to develop an instrument for measuring student well-being in elementary school. The scale was based on the review of research on children's well-being by Pollard and Lee and was adapted for school context using the psychological well-being approach suggested by RyffandKeyes. This study had three parallel scales, each of which was tested, on 200 respondents. Accordingly, the study involved 600respondents. The results of the analysis of the scales were used as basist for preparing a compilation scale. It was then tested on215respondents. The results of the analysis showed that 39items composed had satisfying psychometric properties, i.e. the reliability coefficient, item discrimination index, and content validity. However, the structural factor still needed to be improved.

Abstract

When a unidimensionality assumption has been actually violated, interpretation of test scores might be jeopardized. It couldn’t be overemphasized in case of high-stake exams such as PAPs UGM (academic potentiality test for UGM graduate student candidates) which was supposed to reflect a composite ability. This study aimed at revealing item characteristics of PAPs A-1 Series based on UIRT and MIRT and discovering dimensionality of the three subtests of the test. Scores of subject (n=2035) on the 3 subtests were analysed and the results showed that 27 items (10 of Verbal, 8 of Kuantitatif, and 9 of Penalaran) were flagged for having rbis of less than 0.25 and 6 other items for having abnormally high pseudo-guessing parameters. Dimensionality analyses found out that Penalaran subtest was local-dependent while Verbal and Kuantitatif subtests both were local-independent. In addition, MIRT analyses failed to fully describe item characteristics of the test due to effect of interaction among probabilities of correct response of the three subtests. Abstract

The big five personality traits are the best acknowledged and most commonly used the model in psychology. Therefore, many personality scales are developed based on this personality model. IPIP-BFM-50 is one of the open-source scales measuring big five personalities that is widely used by world researchers. This study aimed to adapt IPIP-BFM-50 into Indonesian and evaluate its psychometric properties. The adaptation was done by following the guidelines of the International Test Commission (ITC). The result shows that IPIP-BFM-50 Indonesia has Aiken's V index ranging from 0.71 - 0.98. Alpha reliability with n = 502 ranges from 0.762 (agreeableness) to 0.862 (emotional stability). Factor analysis shows that the items are well-grouped according to their dimensions with loading factor ranging from 0.34 to 0.75 on the factors measured. Thus, IPIP-BFM-50 Indonesia has satisfactory psychometric properties and can be used to measure the Big five personality.

Abstract

Curriculum 2013 requires teachers to master information technology in order to teach in a better way. In fact, many elementary school teachers have not been able to use computers. Lack of school support and information technology skills may be associated with low self-efficacy. The purpose of this study is to determine whether teachers? self-efficacy can be predicted by school support and mastery of information technology. Subjects of this research were 225 teachers from 19 elementary schools in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta province, which have become the pilot project of Curriculum 2013. Instruments used in this study were Self Efficacy Scale, School Support Scale, and Information Technology Test. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. The result of this study found that school support and mastery of information mastery simultaneously positively correlated to teachers? self-efficacy with a correlation value of 139,616    significance level p<0,01. The effective contribution of school support and mastery of information mastery together positively correlated to teachers? self-efficacy is 55,7%.

Abstract

Kata kunci: penskalaan, multiple intelligences, tipe Thurstone, tipe Likert ______________________________________________________________SCALING CLASSICAL THEORY OF MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES CLASSICAL INSTRUMENT TYPE THURSTONE AND LIKERTAbstract The study aimed to: 1) result the scaling data of multiple intelligence (MI) instruments of Thurstone and Likert types using the classical approach, 2) reveal  the psychometric characteristics of Thurstone and Likert types in the original data and the scaled data, 3) compare the psychometric characteristics of the two types of data. The study used the quantitative research approach. The activity consisted of: developing  instruments, processing the data scaling, analyzing the psychometric characteristics of the instruments, and  comparing the psychometric characteristics of them. The instrument was developed using Thurstone and Likert types in the same constructs. The comparison of psychometric characteristics of two types of data was analyzed by descriptive statistic. The result of scaling using paired comparison method are the sequential scores from a low to high on mathematical-logical, musical, linguistic, kinesthetic, natural, visual, interpersonal, existential and intrapersonal inteligence. The scaling using summated rating produce scores that vary in each response. There are changes of variants and standard error of measurement (SEM) after transformed data. The reliability and SEM of the Thurstone type are lower than  that of Likert type. Keywords: scaling, multiple intelligence instrument, Thurstone type, Likert type
