Abstract

The aims of the research were to analyze the psychometric characteristics of a set Differential Aptitude Test (DAT) consisting of five subtests, they are: numerical, abstract reasoning, space relation, and mechanics. This research using quantitative research method. The data ware collected from documentation pschological testing in UNY. The total data of the study are 2118 youth students in Yogyakarta. The analysis of psychometric characteristics of instrument using classical approach. The characteristic instrument are index of difficulty, index of  disciminancy, effectifitas distractor, and reliability coefficient. The data were analyzed with Microcat ITEMAN 3.0 program. The result of analysis can be concluded that there are many information about item characteristic. The items characteristik have variation in index difficulty. Majority items have good index discimination, and many items are bad or need improvement. The items of abstract reasoning subtes have most distractor option which are not functioning properly, and all subtests in DAT instruments are reliable.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the characteristics of the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), consisting of both verbal and numerical subtests. We used a descriptive quantitative approach by describing the characteristics of SAT based on the degree of item difficulty, item discrimination index, pseudoguessing index, test information function and standard error measurement. The data are responses of the SAT instrument, collected from 1,047 subjects in Yogyakarta using the documentation technique. Data were then analyzed by Item Response Theory (IRT) approach with the help of the BILOG program on all logistic parameter models, preceded by identifying item suitability with the model. Analysis concludes that: verbal subtest tends to compliment the 2-PL and 3-PL model, meanwhile, numerical subtest only fit the 2-PL model. Majority items of SAT have a good characteristic on index of item difficulty, item discrimination, and pseudoguessing, and based of test information function, SAT is accurate to be used in the 1-PL, 2-PL, and 3-PL IRT models for all level of ability.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of play therapy on the level of socialization of children with mild adolescence. This research is pre-experimental design research, one group pre-test-post-test. The number of samples in this study was 40 students. The sampling technique was done randomly with a total sampling technique. The results of the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with an error rate (?) = 0.05 obtained a value of p = 0,000 (p <?) so that it can be concluded that there is an influence of play therapy on the level of socialization of children with Mild Grump at Selong State SLB.

Abstract

Although the problem of anxiety and fear has not been a priority in the treatment of coronavirus, the results of studies show that there is an increase in people's fear of coronavirus. This study aims to evaluate and confirm the Fear of COVID-19 Scale (FCV-19S)  in the Indonesian population. Exploratory Factor Analysis and Confirmation Factor analysis were used for this purpose. A total of 117 participants responded to the scale. The results of the EFA showed that the scale has two dimensions. Furthermore, the results of the CFA revealed that the Indonesian version of FCV-19S exhibited very good construct validity (factorial and convergent), and acceptable reliability. These findings suggest that the Indonesian version of FCV-19S is a developmentally appropriate instrument that can be used to examine fears of coronavirus in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to identify: patterns of responses, the item parameters, and the possibility of gender bias in the career interest instrument developed by the authors based on the Holland’s theory. The sample of this study was 576 elementary students in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta who were recruited using the cluster random sampling method. Two parameters were employed to analyze the response patterns using BILOG program. The results were: (1) three items have inappropriate response patterns to the model; (2) all items of the career interest instrument showed good item parameter criteria; and (3) ten items were identified containing Differential Item Functioning (DIF) in relation to gender bias as shown by the Item Characteristic Curve (ICC). The implications of this study are this instrument can be used in assesing career interest of students and the information of biased items may be considered in the selection of careers for male and female students, including in scoring and interpretation.

Abstract

Positive education is a general term to describe an intervention and an empirically validated program that draws on positive psychology to promote students’ well-being. To date, there is no well-being measurement developed specifically for use in the Indonesian context. This article explores positive education, its relation to students’ well-being, and its relationship to the concept of the Positive Emotions, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, and Accomplishment (PERMA model) in the Indonesian context. The sample used was 434 students in Yogyakarta Province. The data were analyzed using exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. The research instrument was adapted from the Positive Affect and Negative Affect Scale for Children (PANAS-C), the EPOCH (Engagement, Perseverance, Optimism, Connectedness, and Happiness), Measure of Adolescent Well-being, and Meaning in Life Questionnaire (MLQ). The results showed that (1) the well-being of students in Indonesia is structured into eight dimensions: pleasure, passion, excitement, engagement, relationship, presence, search, and accomplishment, and (2) confirmatory factor analysis shows that the eight dimensions show a better fit model than the PERMA model. Therefore, it is concluded that the well-being of high school students in Indonesia does not follow the "PERMA" model.

Abstract

This study is brought about from three main reasons; namely the rise of  the  theory  of  multiple  intelligence,  students'  inability  tounderstandtheir talents and interests, and absence of a standardized instrumentof multiple intelligence. Based on these concerns, this study is  aimed at developing an instrument useful to disclose the multiple intelligenceprofiles of students of the senior high school in Indonesia. Thestudy uses the quantitative approach. Data collecting processes, however, are supported by the qualitative method. The subjects of this researchare students of the senior high school in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakartatotalling at 920 students. Quantitative data collection is carriedout by the instrument and then the data are analized using the SPSSprogram package.  Qualitative data collection is done through discussions and expert judgements.  Using  a content validity test as the measure for  validity,  a  model  of  the  instrument  of  the  multiple intelligenceis developed to measure the tendencies of the senior high school students' interests and talents. The instrument is divided into twoparts. Thefirst is to measure the students' talents and the second is to measure the students' interests. Using the item selection technique for the measure of reliability, the realibility of test is represented by the coefficient count of 0.9044 for scale I and 0.6789for scale 2. These results show that this instrument is valid and realible

Abstract

Abstract This research aims to make the learning model that able to develop the natural intelligence suitable for the learning process of the first class of the elementary school. This research is the developing research based on the Borg and Gall’s model (1983). The product developed in this research is the science learning model. The experiment did in the SD Sultan Agung, Yogyakarta, involving 1 teacher and 24 students. Because of the lack of time and finance in research, the experiment was done only one school. The data are collected by observation documentation and interview. This data are analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. The result of this research showed that the teacher can stimulate the natural intelligence through the science learning model developed by the researcher. This model can also stimulate the student’s natural intelligence. The field experiments showed that the science learning developed to be implemented out of the class made the students more actives, more spirit, and cheerful than other activities done in  the class. The science learning done with giving more assignment made the students more actives than speech and interview method. Keywords: science learning model, stimulate natural intelligence.
