Abstract

Abstract: The REACT learning strategy (Relating, Experiencing, Applying, Cooperating, Transferring) is one of the recommended approaches to enhance students' mathematical connection skills and support them in linking concepts, procedures, mathematical topics, and real-life experiences. This study aimed to examine the effect of the REACT learning strategy based on open-ended problems and students’ Adversity Quotient (AQ) types on their mathematical connection skills. This research adopts a quasi-experimental method with a posttest-only control group design. The sample was selected through cluster random sampling from 10th-grade students in public senior high schools in South Tangerang. The instruments used include a mathematical connection skills test and the Adversity Response Profile (ARP) questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using ANOVA, revealing the following results: (1) the REACT learning strategy based on open-ended problems significantly influences students' mathematical connection skills, (2) the Adversity Quotient (AQ) type significantly affects students' mathematical connection skills, and (3) there is no interaction effect between the REACT learning strategy and Adversity Quotient (AQ) types on students' mathematical connection skills. The findings indicate that the Adversity Quotient (AQ) has a greater impact compared to the learning strategy, with students categorized as AQ climbers showing the highest mathematical connection skills. Keywords: REACT Strategy, Open Problems, Mathematical Connection Ability, Adversity Quotient (AQ).

Abstract

Today's technology is increasingly dominating all aspects of life, including the use of technology in education, one of which is education at RA level. This research is integrated with community service activities which aim to train RA teachers to 1) utilize interactive projector-based ICT learning media in learning, 2) develop interactive projector-based ICT media for early childhood, 3) provide an overview of RA student activities in learning using interactive projector-based ICT media. Method The R&D method is used in developing interactive projector-based ICT applications and media to improve RA students' learning activities in the classroom. Interactive projector based ICT media trials were conducted in two RAs, namely RA Al-Hidayah students and RA Al-Husaeni students. Pandeglang district, Banten Province. The results showed that 1) arranged interactive learning applications for early childhood using interactive projector-based ICT media, 2) The thematic learning process in RA using interactive projector-based ICT media was very enjoyable, this was shown by the enthusiasm of students in participating in lessons and there is also an increase in the learning activities of RA students in Pandeglang Regency. 3) The teacher gives a positive response to the use of interactive projectors in thematic learning in class RA

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to enhance of mathematics undergraduate students’ pedagogic competency by providing assistance in the development of learning media in mathematics. The research method is action research which includes four stages: pre-research analysis, reflection, preparation and implementation of actions, and evaluation. The instrument is questionnaire of validation by media experts (content / material) and practitioner in education. The research was conducted in 2019/2020 with 15 students of mathematics education study program who have computer skills. The results shows that an assistance for undergraduate students is effective to improving their competences specially in pedagogy integrated to technology mobile learning. Based on expert judgments the nine learning media based smartphone in mathematics was produced in this study showed the "feasible" category. The implication of this research is needed to assistance widely, such as for teachers.

Abstract

In the 21st century, mathematical literacy skills are among the most crucial competencies for students. However, current levels of student proficiency in this area remain suboptimal. This study aims to develop REACT strategy teaching materials that incorporate Islamic context mathematical literacy questions on the topic of algebraic function limits. The development model used in this study is the ADDIE model, which comprises five stages: Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The test subjects in this study included expert validators consisting of three mathematics education lecturers from UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, five high school mathematics teachers, and one high school Islamic religion teacher. Additionally, a limited trial was conducted with 30 grade XII MIPA students at SMA Muhammadiyah Sawangan. The instruments used in this study included expert validation instruments, student response questionnaires, and Islamic context mathematical literacy ability tests. The results indicated that the REACT strategy teaching materials developed achieved a high level of validity, with a validation score of 0.89 from expert evaluators. The level of practicality was also high, with a score of 0.93, indicating very feasible criteria based on student response questionnaires. The developed teaching materials were considered effective in facilitating mathematical literacy skills in the Islamic context, based on an average test of student learning outcomes against the Minimum Competency Standards - Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM), with a student success rate of 63%. The conclusion of this study is that the REACT strategy teaching materials designed to enhance students' mathematical literacy skills in the Islamic context, specifically on the topic of function limits, have met the quality standards for teaching materials in terms of validity, practicality, and effectiveness, making them suitable for classroom use.
