Abstract

The research aims to determine the effectiveness of various biological agents in increasing the growth of tomato plants. The study used a randomized block design, consisting of 10 treatments, namely without the use of biological agents, Pseudomonas sp. SWRIIA02, Bacillus sp. CKD061, Pseudomonas sp. Ab06, Pseudomonas sp. Bb05, SWRIIA02 + CKD061, Ab06 + CKD061, Bb05 + CKD061, SWRIIA02 + CKD061 and SWRII02 + CKD061 + Bb05 and each treatment was repeated 3 times. The results showed that the treatment of biological agents had a very significant effect on plant height 14 DAP, number of leaves 12 DAP, plant dry weight and significantly affected plant height 28 DAP, 42 DAP, stem diameter 42 DAP, root fresh weight, root dry weight and length root. The biological agent Pseudomonas sp. SWRIIA02, Bb05+CKD061, Bacillus sp. CKD061, SWRIIA02+CKD061+Bb05 were better at increasing the growth of local tomato plants compared to those without biological agents, with the percentage increase in plant dry weight in each of these treatments reaching 62.30%, 58.78%, 55.91% and 51.76% which was not significantly different from other treatments but significantly different from the treatment without biological agents.

Abstract

The  aim of the research was study the effect of organic matter and potassium fertilizer on   growth   and   production  of   melon.   This   research   was   conducted   in   Rahandouna Subdistrict, Poasia District, Southeast Sulawesi Province, from December 2009 until March 2010. This research was arranged on Split Plot Design, consisting of four levels of organic matter (B) as the main plot : without organic matter (B0),   5 ton.ha-1(B1), 10 ton.ha-1(B2), and  15  ton.ha -1(B3),  and    potassium fertilizer  as  the  sub  plot  consisting of  five  levels: without potassium fertilizer (K0), 50 kg K2O.ha-1 (K1), 100 kg K2O.ha-1 (K2), 150 kg K2O.ha-1 (K3), and 200 kg K2O.ha-1  (K4). Research variables consisted of growth components (stem length, stem circumference, leaf number, and leaf area), production components (fruit weight, fruit circumference, fruit thickness). The result of the  research showed that the interaction of organic matter and potassium fertilizer had no effect on all observed parameters. The aplication of organic matter 10-15 ton.ha-1 and potassium fertilizer 50-150 kg K20 increased growth  and production of melon. The optimum dose of organic matter was 12,25 ton.ha-1 and potassium fertilizer at 150 kg K2O ha.-1 for fresh fruit production, and fruit weight production were 50,40 ton.ha-1  and 54,60 ton ha.-1, respectively. Keywords : fertilizer, growth, potassium, production, organic matter.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to know the effect of urea fertilizer on growth and yield  of  mustard  plant.  This  research  was  carried  out  at  the  Experimental  farm  of Agriculture Faculty, Haluoleo University, from October to November 2012. This research was carried out using completely randomized block design, that consisted of 6 treatments namely: without Urea fertilizer (U0), 25 kg ha-1 equals to 1.6 g plot1 of urea fertilizer (U25), 50 kg ha-1 equals to 3,2 g plot-1  of urea fertilizer (U50), 75 kg ha-1equals to 4,8 g plot-1of urea fertilizer (U75), 100 kg ha-1 equals to 6,4 g plot-1 of urea fertilizer (U100),125 kg ha-1 equals to 8 g plot-1 of urea fertilizer (U125) . Each treatment was repeated 3 times which resulted in 18 experiment units. The experiment data were analyzed using analysis of variance method and then followed by Honest Significantly Difference Test. The result of the research showed that the application of various dosages of urea fertilizer has an effect on the growth and yield of mustard plant. The application of urea fertilizer to mustard plant effected plant height, leaf area at the age of 21 and 28 days after planting, dry weight of root, dry weight of leaves and relative growth rate. However, the application of urea fertilizer has no effect on the number of leaves, leaf area at the age of 14 days after planting, leaf fresh weight, and the root fresh weight of mustard plant. An increase in the dosages of Urea fertilizer was followed by an increase in the growth and production of mustard plant. 125 kg ha-1 urea fertilizer increased growth and production of mustard plant a lot higher compared to other of urea fertilizer with a production yield of 10 ton ha-1. Keywords: mustard plant, urea
