Abstract

 Abstract: According to the survey data of east java community groups with 92,29% of student respondents of east java, almost all students wanted creative and innovative online learning methods to make student study more comfortable, the basis of this research is the same as Indonesian efforts to receive industrial era 4.0. this research is classified as classroom action research with two-cycle. In the early stage of the entry behaviorist test, the student scored good, excellent, and perfect is 0%, and after the activities of cycle one and cycle two were implemented, a student score was in grades. They got a pore score of 30 students, 25 students got a good score, 30 students got an excellent score, and 15 students got a perfect score. we can conclude in every cycle; students have increased their score by almost 30 %.  Abstrak : Sesuai hasil data survey kelompok masyarakat Jawa Timur dengan responden pelajar Jawa Timur sebanyak 92,29%, hasil dari kegiatan tersebut hampir seluruh siswa menginginkan pembelajaran kreatif dan inovatif agar siwa mampu belajar dengan nyaman. Hal tersebut yang melandasi dilaksanakanya penelitian ini. Implementasi Penelitian Ini sejalan dengan upaya Indonesia menyongsong era industri 4.0, Penelitian ini tergolong penelitian Tindakan kelas dengan 2 siklus. Pada tahapan awal atau Entry Behavioris Tes, siswa yang mendapat nilai dengan standat baik, sangat baik dan sempurna masih 0%, dan setelah dilakukanya kegiatan siklus 1 dan siklus 2 dengan Mall (mobile assisted language leraning), nilai siswa-siswi mulai ada peningkatan nilai, yakni siswa yang berhasil mendapatkan nilai cukup ada 30 siswa, siswa yang berhasil mendapatkan nilai baik terdapat 25 siswa, sedangkan siswa yang memperoleh nilai sangat baik terdapat 30 siswa, dan siswa yang mendapatkan nilai sempurna terdapat 15 siswa, dapat disimpulkan bahwa implementasi pembelajara Bahasa inggris  menggunakan Mall dalam setiap sikulsnya, nilai ulangan siswa – siswi mengalami peningkatan hampir 30%.

Abstract

Pertukaran Pelajar Internasional memberikan beragam manfaat kepada pelajar, seperti meningkatkan kemampuan Bahasa dan pengalaman interkulturalnya. Maka kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini diawali dengan mentoring menulis Curriculum Vitae dan motivation letter berbahasa Inggris, menyiapkan dokumen pendaftaran, menulis essay ‘kontribusiku untuk Indonesia’,dan mendampingi mereka untuk mendaftar beasiswa pertukaran pelajar ini secara daring. Metode yang digunakan dalam proses pendampingan ini adalah pembelajaran di kelas dan pendekatan personal untuk memastikan setiap santriwati melalui semua tahapan pendaftaran dengan benar. Sebelum submit pendaftaran, seluruh hasil tulisan dan dokumen yang telah ditulis santriwati akan dicek dan diberikan feedback agar mendapatkan hasil terbaik.

Abstract

This study investigated technological pedagogical and content knowledge (TPACK) practices during the current COVID-19 pandemic and examined factors influencing students’ perceptions of effective online learning. This study gathered the primary data from 90 university students from four study programs via the online questionnaire. Using an analysis of variance (ANOVA) statistical tool for data analysis, this study found that students’ perceptions of their teachers’ teaching performance in the fully online programs are not significantly different across four study programs. This finding implies that regardless of their study programs, the students had expected that teachers should pay attention to some vital aspects in online learning: using the same learning management system (LMS) for all study programs, and preparing designing practical online modules, taking care of the organization of teaching inputs that promote students’ critical thinking, delivering various teaching inputs and methods, intensifying teachers’ presence in monitoring students’ learning progress, motivating students to learn, and promoting teacher-student mutual respect through effective communication. This study also revealed that teachers play a pivotal role in achieving effective online learning during the pandemic.

Abstract

In recent years, there has been a growing interest in the integration of moral values into language textbook. This study aims to investigate the value nationality values in When English Rings a Bell (revised 2017) textbook for eighth-grade of Junior High School based on the curriculum 2013 that the Ministry of Education and culture published. This research used the content analysis method to analyse the value nationality in the textbook, and the interviews togain the English teachers perceptions on the value nationality values and how it applies to “When English Rings a Bell” (revised 2017) textbook to strengthen the result of research. The finding show that the most dominant percentage of value nationality values based on the seven indicators are related to being love of Indonesia which found (43%), followed by the willingness to sacrifice after the country (27%), pride of the motley culture (11%), receive the complex (7%), proud of being Indonesian (5%), prioritizing public interest (5%). In contrast, the least percentage was the values of heroes (0%). Those values depicted in “When English Rings a Bell” textbook aresocioculturally ingrained in Indonesian culture and appropriate to be implemented for eighth-grade Junior High School students in the teaching-learning process because it has value nationality values in each chapter which correlate to the curriculum 2013.

Abstract

Produksi minuman herbal teh celup jahe serai merupakan salah satu inovasi yang dikembangkan oleh mahasiswa KKN Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Sunan Giri Bojonegoro di Desa Ngulanan, Kecamatan Dander, Kabupaten Bojonegoro. Pengolahan jahe serai dilakukan secara tradisional yang bertujuan menjaga orisinalitas rasa dari jahe serai dan dapat memberikan manfaat pada peningkatan imunitas tubuh. Jahe dan serai yang dikemas dalam teabag atau teh celup selanjutnya dipacking dalam pouch dan diberikan label “Asarehe” (Asli Serai Jahe) menjadi salah satu daya tarik dan menjaga kualitas produk kemudian dipasarkan secara online melalui sosial media untuk menjangkau pasar yang lebih luas. Dengan metode ABCD (Asset-Based Community Development), program pengabdian masyarakat ini diharapkan mampu memberdayakan masyarakat secara ekonomi di masa pandemi. Pelatihan pembuatan minuman jahe serai melibatkan ibu-ibu PKK agar dapat mengembangkan kewirausahaan pada produk berbahan dasar jahe serai. Pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi penyampaian materi, praktik pengemasan dalam teabag, diskusi dan tanya jawab. Antusiasme peserta sangat tinggi selama pelatihan yang tercermin dalam keaktifan saat praktek pengemasan dan suasana diskusi yang interaktif. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini diharapkan dapat dijadikan sebagai peluang untuk mengembangkan kewirausahaan.

Abstract

The rising prominence of remote speaking practice in education and professional development underscores its critical significance. Enabled by advancing technology, remote platforms offer unprecedented convenience and accessibility for individuals to refine speaking skills. Research explores the efficacy of remote speaking practice, drawing on previous studies that have examined technology-mediated communication for language learning and public speaking training. Building on this foundation, this study investigates students' perceptions of remote speaking tasks' impact on pronunciation, speaking skills, and confidence. Through a qualitative approach involving open-ended surveys distributed to 19 English students at one of the Islamic private universities in Indonesia, attitudes and motivations shaping students' perspectives are explored. Analysis using NVivo 12 highlights the pivotal role of remote speaking tasks in improving pronunciation skills and fostering English speaking proficiency. Moreover, students' recognition of confidence as integral to successful language learning underscores the importance of supportive learning environments. The findings underscore the necessity of integrating remote speaking tasks into language curricula to enhance pronunciation and speaking proficiency effectively while emphasizing the pivotal role of confidence in facilitating language acquisition. These insights hold significant implications for language education, advocating for the incorporation of remote speaking practice to empower learners in developing fluency and proficiency in virtual environments.

Abstract

This study intends to ascertain (1) How do pre-service English teachers conceptualize TPACK and its components, (2) What challenges do pre-service English teachers encounter in implementing TPACK during teaching practice on independent curriculum, (3) What strategies do pre-service English teachers employ to address these challenges. The research participants were students of English Education study programs from different universities who have practiced teaching English in the independent curriculum. The data for this study were collected through questionnaires and interviews. The result of this study revealed, (1) many ways to conceptualize TPACK in learning such as utilizing technology such as PowerPoint, Canva, Google Form, Quizizz, and others. And also conceptualize pedagogy knowledge to approach students such as checking student understanding through questions at the end of learning and evaluating the concept of learning content based on how well students understand and are interested in the material, (2) These challenges come from internal and external factor such as lack of time to approach students, less responsive students, participants must always innovate to create interesting learning concepts that require process and consistency, (3) respondents have alternatives to face challenges in implementing TPACK, such as making a second plan if there are problems related to technology, asking questions and making approaches outside of class hours and respondents tried to increase their knowledge about TPACK by frequently from the internet.

Abstract

This research was intended to investigate pre-service English teacher's perception of Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) during virtual teaching internships. The problem comes from changing the learning system from offline to online due to pandemic covid 19. Automatically, it influences the implementation of teaching internships. As a result, preschool teachers who carry out the task must adjust the situation. This research is classified into qualitative research. The research participant was five English pre-service teachers who took teaching internship in several schools. The data was obtained by distributing questionnaires, conducting interviews, and analyzing reflective journals. The result shows that EFL pre-service teachers had positive perceptions of the use of MALL in teaching English. Pre-service English teachers understand and are aware of MALL during virtual teaching internships. While the obstacles faced by the Pre-service teacher came from the unstable connection internet access, operating new features, and controlling the students. In conclusion, English pre-service teachers have a positive perception of dealing with MALL application in virtual teaching internships.

Abstract

The research investigated non-English major students' views and perspectives on learning English through Duolingo. Qualitative methods were used, with 30 questionnaire items and 15 interview prompts to gather data on students' perception of using Duolingo to learn English, as well as the difficulties and obstacles they encountered. The participants were 41 undergraduate students in the sixth semester of the Early Childhood Education major at a university in Bojonegoro. This research focused on using Duolingo as a learning tool to enhance the teaching and learning process, considering the impact of technological advancements in education. The results showed that nearly 99% of participants viewed Duolingo as useful and functional. Challenges and obstacles in using the application for English learning were categorized into internal factors (mood, laziness, lack of knowledge, and time constraints) and external factors (network issues, smartphone usage, and application errors).Keywords: Duolingo application; learning English; English learning application; English learning media
