Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the scientific trend of research on Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) through bibliometric study and explore how the contribution of Indonesian researchers in the Scopus database from 2015 to 2019. The sample was composed of 2075 documents in total. The results revealed that scientific publication on TPACK has been increasing. United States contributed the most documents on TPACK as well as Singapore’s institutions dominated in this area. Meanwhile, Indonesia put its two representative’s institutions: Universitas Sebelas Maret and Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, among the big ten institutions in the world. All Indonesian documents produced by teacher-producing universities and public universities. United States and Taiwan have also contributed to the most productive authors of TPACK. Then, the visualization of research trend on TPACK resulted in four major clusters: i) TPACK as a system; ii) TPACK in relating to its scale; iii) TPACK in connecting with quantitative parameters; and iv) TPACK under beliefs, intention, and technology acceptance. The research findings could aid related researchers to recognize the trend of TPACK research and recommend directions for further research.

Abstract

Photovoice research is conducted by researchers to communicate images or photographs, and it has high confidence in analyzing the value, story or meaning of an image. Several previous studies that examined photovoice as a research strategy were analyzed and reviewed. This systematic review used an article selection process. It was defining the purpose, conducting a literature search, pulling articles by reading abstracts, reading the full paper, data abstraction, and conducting an analysis. The photovoice article selection was classified into education, health, and social science domain. Finally, forty-one articles have been reviewed with the total of participants involved ranged from five to fifty individuals. The majority of research method in the articles was participatory action research (PAR) through qualitative inquiry or field visits. Meanwhile, the research instruments used photography, documentation, observation, and interviews. In various fields of research, photovoice is able to increase the understanding of individuals or groups to interpret the content of an image or photo.

Abstract

This research was conducted to describe the implementation of teaching and learning activities using the Quizizz-based Team Games Tournament (QTGT) method in improving the physics problem-solving skills of senior high school students. The method of this study used preliminary research with data collection techniques in the form of written tests, which data acquisition will be analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The research was conducted on 100 students of 11th science grade from one of the Islamic high school in Gresik Regency. The results of the research show that: 1) The problem-solving skills of students in the low category with a score range of 0-50 as many as 92 students divided into 11 male students and 81 female students and the medium category in the range of score 51-75 as many as 8 students divided into 2 male students and 6 female students. 2) The lowest problem-solving skills criteria are found in the indicator C - Conceptualize the strategy (outlining the steps to be used in problem-solving) with an average score of 4.31, 3) The application of the Quizizz-based Team Games Tournament (QTGT) method is expected to improve students' physics problem-solving skills. So, it can be concluded that to improve students' physics problem-solving skills, the need for innovations in the implementation of learning such as the application of learning models and cutting-edge learning media that are packaged attractively and adapted to the current era of globalization.

Abstract

The current study describes how the guided-discovery-learning model impacts students' conceptual understanding (SCU) and students’ critical thinking skills (SCTS) on the topic of solubility. The quasi-experimental research with a posttest-only nonequivalent control group design was used in this study. The experimental group (45 students) and the control group (47 students) were selected by the saturated sampling technique. Data on SCU was collected using an objective true false test instrument with correction/proofing, while data on critical thinking skills was collected using an essay test instrument. The research data were analyzed descriptively and statistically (Mann-Whitney U). The research found the SCU (mean= 81.51 vs. mean= 72.81) and SCTS (mean= 70.46 vs. mean= 58.43) in the experimental group was better than the control group, both descriptively and statistically (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that the guided-discovery-learning model significantly impacted SCU and SCTS on the solubility topic.

Abstract

One of the meaningful learning implications is the formation of Long-Term Memory (LTM). Through the development of concepts related to the problems of everyday life that bridge LTM and the implementation of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) as an educational approach, it enables students to realize the importance of knowledge for society. However, some aspects of society are excluded from STEM, in that way a transformation needs to be carried out. Art and Religion need to be developed in STEM to nurture students, environment, and society to the full. Several examples are presented to represent the relationship between STEM with art and religion, not only in terms of learning outcomes in schools, but also the expectations to create resilient people in facing the future challenges. With Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STREAM) education approach.

Abstract

This study discusses the implementation of problem-based learning (PBL) assisted by physics education technology (PhET) as a virtual laboratory to improve the critical thinking skills of high school students on dynamic electrical materials. The purposes of this research were to obtain the profile of students' critical thinking skills and the implementation of PBL assisted by PhET in senior high schools. This research method was a preliminary study with a qualitative descriptive analysis, written tests, student response questionnaires, and teacher interviews. The finding of students' critical thinking skills was categorized into three levels (low, moderate, and high). There are seventeen students in the low category, fifty-three students in the moderate category, and thirty students in the high category. The conclusion of this study revealed that students' critical thinking skills at the senior public school Surabaya were in the moderate category, and training questions were needed to improve students' critical thinking skills

Abstract

This research aimed to obtain the profile of students' critical thinking skills and the implementation of PBLRQA based on blended learning in high school. This research is a descriptive preliminary study with a saturated sampling technique was taken by 123 students. The method of gathering information with a used a written test, response questionnaire students, and teacher interviews. The analysis was conducted using qualitative descriptive analysis techniques. The result showed that critical thinking skills in the very low category. With the acquisitions of the very low category as many as namely 110 students, the low category as many as 12 students being low, the medium category as many as and 1 student, but in the high and very high categories there are no students who achieve it. The research of the study concluded that the students generally in low critical thinking skills, so it is necessary to change the learning model to improve critical thinking skills, namely by the implementation of PBLRQA based on blended learning.

Abstract

This study was designed to identify and describe students’ metacognitive thinking process in solving compound polarity based on academic ability level. Two hundred and eighty-four high school students in Indonesia participated in the study. Students are classified into high, middle and low academic ability groups based on field notes, student academic data, compound polarity problem-solving test (CPPST) scores and teacher suggestions. Six selected students from each group were designated as research subjects and then interviewed in depth to explore their metacognitive thinking processes. CPPST answer sheets and interview transcripts were analyzed using summative content analysis and tested for validity by data triangulation. The results showed that the students with high and medium academic ability level carry out metacognitive thinking processes in the dimensions of planning, monitoring and reflection in solving compound polarity problems, where the metacognitive thinking processes of students with high academic ability are more varied than students with middle academic ability. Students with low academic ability only carry out the dimensions of planning and monitoring. Therefore, teachers need to train students' metacognitive skills in solving problems and get used to applying metacognitively in each given problem solving so that students are trained to solve problems systematically, carefully and thoroughly, and manage time properly in order to obtain the expected learning achievement.
