Abstract

Abstract

Objective of this study is to understand the influence of self-efficacy training on decreasing work stress among 22 policemen in Yogyakarta. They worked as the community protectors. They were divided randomly into 2 groups i.e. the experiment group (11 policemen) and the control group (11 policemen). The experimental design was the pretest-posttest control group. For this research, we created two instruments to measure the independent and dependent variables respectively i.e. the self-efficacy scale and the work stress scale, and the intervention was the self-efficacy improvement training. The research data were analyzed based on the Wilcoxon Rank Test (to understand the difference of work stress level between the pre-test and posttest groups) and the U-Mann Whitney statistical techniques (to understand the difference of work stress scores between the post-test experiment and control groups. The first hypothesis was confirmed that the Wilcoxon Rank Test Z score = -2.936 (p = .003) was significant. In other words, the work stress level at the post-test ( = 113,91) was much higher because of self-efficacy training than the pre-test ( = 49,09). The second hypothesis was also confirmed that the U-Mann Whitney Z score = -3.977, p = .000 (p<.001) was very significant. In other words, the work stress level at the post-test experiment group ( = 49.09) was much lower than the control group ( = 112.55). Key words: Work Stress, Self-Efficacy Training, Policeman

Abstract

Objective of this research is to understand the effectivity of the progressive muscle relaxation in order to decline the stress level among the HIV/AIDS infected ladymen. We propose the hypothesis that there will be a decline stress level among those HIV/AIDS ladymen just after they received the progressive muscle relaxation. Five ladymen participate in this research and their stress level are moderate untill high. Design of this research is the one group pretest-posttest. Instrument of data collection is the DASS 42 Stress Scalle. We ask participants to complete the scale just before and after receiving five times progressive muscle relaxation. This research reveals that there is a significant difference in stress level between before and after receiving five timer progressive muscle relaxation (Z = -2,032, p = .042 or p< .05). The mean scores for the stress level are 26.00 and 15.00 just before and after receiving the progressive muscle relaxation respectively. Based on that data, we come to conclusion that the progresssive muscle relaxation is effective in reducing stress level among the infected HIV/AIDS ladymen.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine: 1) the relationship between self-control and bullying behavior, 2) the relationship between peer conformity and bullying behavior, 3) the joint relationship between self-control and peer conformity and bullying behavior. The research sample was 142 high school students who had bullied. Methods of data collection in this study using the bullying scale, self-control scale and conformity scale. Data analysis using product moment correlation analysis and multiple linear regression. The results showed there was: 1) Negative relationship between self-control and bullying behavior, the correlation was -0.622 (p<0.01); 2) Positive relationship between conformity and bullying, correlation value is 0.626 (p<0.01); 3) The relationship between self-control and conformity with bullying obtained an F value of 73,592 and a correlation coefficient of 0.717 (p<0.01) and the effective contribution of self-control and conformity to predict bullying in students is 51.4% while the remaining 48.6% is influenced by other factors not examined in this study.

Abstract

Working as a teacher in frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped (3T) regions presents psychological and environmental challenges that may affect teachers’ subjective well-being. Grounded in positive psychology, this study hypothesized that self-esteem and social support would be positively related to subjective well-being. Using a quantitative correlational survey design, data were collected from 154 teachers (64.3% female, aged 25–56 years, M = 39.8, SD = 7.6; average teaching experience = 11.4 years) across elementary to high school levels in Amabi Oefeto Timur District, Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. Instruments were administered offline in schools with institutional permission due to limited internet access. Instruments included the Teaching Satisfaction Scale (TSS), PANAS, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, and R-MSPSS. Results indicated significant positive correlations between self-esteem and subjective well-being (r = 0.43, p < .01) and between social support and subjective well-being (r = 0.38, p < .01), with R² = 0.256. Teachers with higher self-esteem and stronger social support reported greater life satisfaction and positive affect, supporting the positive psychology and social buffering models. The findings emphasize the importance of self-esteem and social support enhancement programs for teacher well-being in resource-limited contexts. Ethical approval was obtained, and all participants provided informed consent. Limitations and directions for future research are discussed.
