Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the interaction effect compost fertilizer and multiple doses of NPK fertilizer as well as getting the best treatment between compost fertilizer and NPK fertilizer on the growth of oil palm (Elais guinensis Jacq.) immature phase II. This research has been conducted in experimental gardens Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau Jl. Bina Widya Baru Simpang KM 12.5, Tampan, Pekanbaru. This research was conducted for 4 months starting in mid-Maret 2015 until mid-Juli 2016 , research was conducted with a Randomized complete Block Design (RCBD) factorial consisting of two factors, The first factor is the compost (K), which consists of three composision K0 = compost of 0 g/plant K1= TKKS and restaurant waste compost K2= rice straw compost and market waste second factor is the dose NPK fertilizer which consists of three levels ie M0 = NPK fertilizer dose of 0 g / plant M1 = NPK fertilizer dose of 750 g / plant M2 = fertilizer NPK dose of 1500 g / plant. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and extended with further research into the standard 5% DNMRT. Parameter observation is the increase of plant height (cm), number of leaves (leaf), girth (cm), midrib length (cm) and total frond (leaf). The results showed composting TKKS + garbage restaurants 7000 g / plant and NPK1500 gram / best plants at as height and length midrib while straw + junk market 7000 g / plant and NPK1500 gram / best plants for parameter number of leaves, girth and number of fronds immature oil palm plants. Keywords: Elaeis guineensis Jacq.,  Compost fertilizer, NPK fertilizer.

Abstract

 1.2. Oil palm is a crop that has high economic value and is suitable for cultivation in tropical climates such as Indonesia. The development of oil palm plantations continues to be carried out because it is an oil-producing commodity consisting of crude CPO and kernel. Riau province has a very large area of peat land.Peat land has great potential for agricultural cultivation. Availability of macro and micro nutrients in peat soil has a low content. The main keys to the success of crop cultivation on peatlands are increasing soil pH, availability of nutrients for plants and reducing the activity of toxic organic monomeric acids. The method commonly used to improve problematic land includes liming. One type of fertilization that is carried out is fertilization through leaves. This study aims to determine the growth of oil palm seedlings on peat soil by applying dolomite and micro fertilizers through the leaves, knowing the best dosage for oil palm seedling growth and knowing the interaction of dolomite fertilizer with micro fertilizers. This research was conducted in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau. This research has been conducted for three months from October to December 2019. Based on the results of the research that has been carried out, it can be concluded that Zinkcup fertilizer given to plants can increase the growth of oil palm seedlings in peat media, application of 3 g micro fertilizer doses through leaves and 12.5 g dolomite fertilizer was able to increase the growth of oil palm seedlings in peat media and the interaction between the application of 3 g micro fertilizer through leaves and 12.5 g dolomite fertilizer resulted in good growth of oil palm seedlings in the media peat. Key words: oil palm, dolomite, zinccup, peat

Abstract

The research aims to study the effect of combination of LCC Mucuna sp. and earthworms Pontoscolex sp. and to obtain the best combination treatment on physical changes of the inceptisol at the plam plantation. The experiment has been conducted at the experimental farm of the Faculty of Agriculture University of Riau, Pekanbaru from Februari to Juni 2018. The experimental unit was arranged in a completely ramdomized design (RAL), consisting of 9 combinations of the ground the LCC Mucuna sp. with the feeding of the earthworms Pontoscolex sp. and repeated it 3 times. Parameter observed were the rate of infiltration, water level, bulk density, particle density, total pore spaces, permeability and soil organic matter. Data were analyzed statistically using analysis of variance and comparemean of variables observed by using Duncan New Multiple Range Test an significant level of 5 %. The result showed an increase in combinations of the ground the LCC Mucuna sp. with the feeding of the earthworms Pontoscolex sp. increase water levels, total pore spaces and organic material soils and tend to increase rate of infiltration, particle density and permeability and decrease bulk density at the oil palm wicket. The combinations treatment LCC Mucuna sp. 8 plants/plot with eartworms Pontoscolex sp. 45 tails/plot produced in a change in the best physical properties of the soil compared with other treatments.Keyword: LCC Mucuna sp., earthworms Pontoscolex sp

Abstract

Theresearch aims to improve the peat soilfertility (chemical and physical soil properties) through the giving of dolomite and planting of legume cover cropMucuna bracteata. Theresearch was conducted at Kualu Nanas Village, Tambang, Kampar, Riau from September 2017 to February 2018. The researchused Split Plots Design with a basic pattern of Completely Randomized Design. The main plot is Mucuna bracteatawhich consists of 2 levels, without and using a cover crop of Mucuna bracteata. The subplot is the dosesof dolomite fertilizer consisting of 4 levels, namely, 0.0ton.ha-1, 0.5ton.ha-1, 1.0ton.ha-1, 1.5ton.ha-1 The observedparameters were soil water content, water holding capacity, pH soil, soil organic carbon, N-total soil,P-total soil, K-total soil, cation exchange capacity (CEC), exchangeable base, base saturation, LCC M. bracteata biomass, the total of LCCM. bracteata root nodules, the total of LCC M. bracteataeffective root nodules and the tendrils lengthof LCC M. bracteata. The results showed that the planting of LCC M. bracteata increasing the saturation of peat soil bases by 299.12% if the dolomite doses was increased from 0.5 ton.ha-1 to 1.0 ton.ha-1 and 1.5 ton.ha-1. The planting of LCC M. bracteata and thegiving of dolomite can increase the fertility of peat soils such as pH, N-total, exchangeable bases, CEC and base saturation. Keywords : soil fertility, peat, dolomite, Mucuna bracteata.

Abstract

One effort to improve the chemical properties of peat soils and the growth of rubber trees is by planting a legume cover crop Mucuna bracteata. The research aims to determine the chemical properties of the soil and the growth of rubber trees in peat soils without overgrown Mucuna bracteata with peat soils ex overgrown Mucuna bracteata and peat soil that overgrown Mucuna bracteata. The research was conducted in January – March 2016 in peat land at social plantation areal of PT. RAPP Teluk Meranti. The research was conducted by survey method where the determination of location specified by Stratified Random Sampling method and the determination of sample point specified by Simple Random Sampling method. The results showed that peat soil which is overground Mucuna bracteata has a pH value, C-organic, N-total, P-total, KTK, KB and the growth of rubber trees better than peat soils ex overgrown Mucuna bracteata and peat soils withouth overgrown Mucuna bracteata.Keywords : Peat soil, chemical properties, Mucuna bracteata, rubber.

Abstract

Soybean (Glycine max L.) is a food commodity that is used as a source of vegetable protein or as an industrial raw material and needs to be increased by using efficient and appropriate cultivation techniques, namely by using compost and giving mulch. This study aims to determine the main effects of compost and mulch of reed as well as their interaction with the growth and production of soybean plants. The research was conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture Experimental Garden, University of Riau from February to May 2018,the experimentally using a randomized block design (RBD), which consisted of two factors, namely the first factor in reed compost (without reed compost, reeds compost 2,5 ton.ha--1 and reeds compost 5 ton.ha-1), second factor reeds mulch (without reed mulch, reeds mulch 10 ton.ha-1 and reeds mulch 20 ton.ha--1). Parameters observed were soil properties, number of individual weeds, plant height, number of primary branches, age of flowering, total pods per plant, percentage of pithy pods, harvest age, seed weight per plot, yield per m2 and weight of 100 seeds. Thedata obtained were analyzed statistically by analysis of variance and were tested further with multiple distance tests at the level of 5%.The results showed that the factors of reed compost 5 ton.ha-1 and reeds mulch 10 ton.ha-1 gave better results for all observational parameters. Giving reeds compost 5 ton.ha-1 with reeds mulch 10 ton.ha-1 is the best combination of all parameters observed in soybean plants and produce seed weight per m2 which is 189,80 grams (1,28 ton.ha-1). Keywords: Compost, Mulch, Reed, Soybeans

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using LCC Mucuna bracteataon three of land slope to soil chemical properties and root growth of immature oil palms. This research conducted in PTPN V Unit Lubuk Dalam, Siak and analysis of soil chemistry in the soil Laboratory Faculty of Agriculture University of Riau. This research conductedjanuary to june 2016. The research used split plot design. The level of land slope (K) as the main plot consists of: K1 = slope 2%, K2 = 7%, K3 = 13%. Mucuna bracteata(M) as the subplot consist of: M0 = cleaned Mucuna bracteata and M1 = overgrown Mucuna bracteata. The variabels observed were soil pH, organic-C, total-N, total-P, total-K, cation excharge capacity, base saturation, root dry weight, root volume and root occupy. The results showed: (1) the interaction between slope level and used of Mucuna bracteatadid not effect all parameters of soil chemical properties and root growth; (2) at the overgrown LCC Mucuna bracteata, soil pH, organic-C, total-N, total-P, total-K, cation excharge capacity, exchangeable bases (Ca, Mg, Na dan K), base saturation is more higher compared with the cleaned LCC Mucuna bracteataland; (3) The different level of land slope (%) has  the different soil pH, organic-C, total-P, total-K, cation excharge capacity. The more higher of the land slope (%) so soil pH, organic-C, total-P, total-K, cation excharge capacity become lower; And (4) using of Mucuna bracteata, slope level and the interaction between slope level and used of Mucuna bracteatawas not effect toroot dry weight, root volume and root occupy.  Keywords: Mucuna bracteata, land slope and soil chemical properties

Abstract

This research aimed to get the best treatment of combinationoil palm empty fruit bunches(OPEFB)compost with NPK fertilizer for the growth of oil palm seedlings (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.)inUltisol medium. This research has been conducted in the Agriculture Experimental Station Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, District of Tampan, the research was carried out for 4 months starting in November 2016 to the month ofFebruary2017.This research arranged experimentaly using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) arranged in non-factorial, which consist of 5 treatment and 4 replication,Every experimental unit consisted of 2 polybags so that entirely 40experimental units. P0: Without fertilizer, P1:OPEFBcompost50 g/10 kg medium + NPK 10 g/10 kg medium. P2:OPEFBcompost50 g/10 kg medium + NPK 20 g/10 kg medium. P3:OPEFBcompost100 g/10 kg medium + NPK 10 g/10 kg medium. P4: OPEFBcompost50 g/10 kg medium + NPK 20 g/10 kg medium. Analysis of variance result showing significant difference, continued with Duncans New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at level 5%. Based on research result which has been done indicates that giving various doses of combinations OPEFBcompost with NPK fertilizer give an significant effect on all parameters observed. From this research giving best influence at dose OPEFBcompost100 g/10 kg medium + NPK 10 g/10 kg mediumon the increase of seedling height, leaf number, root volume, dry weight of seedlings and shoot roots ratioon oil palm seedlings which aged 6 months in Ultisol medium. Keyword: Oil palm empty fruit bunches(OPEFB) compost, NPK fertilizer,Ultisol medium

Abstract

Research on sunflower in Riau has not ever been studied, therefore this study is planted using  planting medium that is soil dominated by Ultisol and Inceptisol. soil improvement  with using oil palm empty fruit bunches (EFB) compost can increase the growth and yield of the sunflower plant. The experiment was conducted with a split plot design (split plot) in the form of 4 x 2 factorial, the first factor is the Plant Media And the second factor is the administration of EFB compost that consists of four levels of 0g, 25g, 50g, and 75g. Data were statistically analyzed by analysis of variance and Duncan's multiple range test (DMRT) at 5%. Parameters measured were plant height, leaf number, date of flowering, harvest, seed weight, and the analysis of soil chemical properties. The results of the study found that the application of 50g / polybag EFB compost was the best treatment for the growth and yield of the sunflower on Ultisols media and Inceptisols.Keywords: Sunflower, Ultisol, Inceptisol, EFB, Split Plot

Abstract

This research aims to determine the interaction of oil palm bunch ashand N fertilizer and to get the best dose to the cocoa seedlings growth on peat media. This research was conducted from Desember 2016 to March 2017. This research is a 4 x 4 factorial experiment arranged in a completely randomized design (CRD) with three replications. The first factor is oil palm bunch ash with four levels namely 0, 2,5, 5 and 7,5 tons/ha. The second factor was the N fertilizer with four levels namely 0, 0,12, 0,16 and 0,20 tons/ha. Parameters observed were plant height, number of leaves,girth trunk, root volume, shoot roots ratio and the dry weight. The results showed that the interaction of oil palm bunch ash and N fertilizeronnumber of leaves,girth trunk, root volume, and the dry weight was significantlyaffect, the best treatment can be obtained by providing a dose of oil palm bunch ash7,5 tons/ha and N fertilizer0,20 tons/ha. Oil palm bunch ashgives the best treatment results with dose of 7,5 tons/ha significantly affect on plant height, number of leaves, girth trunk, root volume, shootroots ratioand dry weight. Provision of N fertilizer to the cocoa seedlings significantly affect on plant height, number of leaves, girth trunk, root volume, shootroots ratioand dry weight and providing ofN fertilizer0,20 tons/ha is best dose.Keywords:Oil palm bunch ash, Fertilizer N, Cocoa seedlings
