Abstract

The research aimed to investigate the contribution of using sparkol videoscribe media in teaching writing skill. This research reviewed the previous studies on sparkol videoscribe in teaching writing skill which were published within the past ten years. This research used systematic review as the method. The population of this research was eighteen studies, then it screened used flow charts based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. There were five studies as the sample. This research used indirect observation as a  technique and document analysis as the tools. To analyze the data, this research used thematic analysis as the technique analysis of data.  Based on the result of the review, the result indicated that (1) The use of sparkol videoscribe media helped the teacher in teaching writing skill. (2) The successful of using sparkol videoscribe media in teaching writing skill based on students’ achievement increased. (3) Sparkol videoscribe media encouraged students’ interest, motivation, activeness, and able to engage students’ attention. From the results above, the sparkol videoscribe media gave the contribution in teaching writing skill.Keywords: Systematic review, sparkol videoscribe, writing skill.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the non-English students’ attitude towards English language at IKIP PGRI Pontianak. In this research, the form of research is descriptive mixed method. The subject of the research were non-English students’ of IKIP PGRI Pontianak. The data were taken through close-ended questionnaire and unstructured interview. In analyzing the data, the interactive model of data analysis proposed by Miles and Huberman was used. The sample was selected used a quota sampling. The result of this research based on the data collected showed that the respondents tend to have positive attitude towards English language. From the results of the questionnaire on the Likert scale of 52.69%, it indicated the agree category. This value shows that the average number of non-English students agrees. Thus, it can be said that the attitudes of non-English students tend to have a positive attitude towards English. The results of the data and conclusions in this study are real results obtained from the data source itself.

Abstract

Penelitan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keterampilan Bahasa Inggris siswa yang mengalami kesulitan dalam Bahasa Inggris, faktor - faktor penyebab kesulitan tersebut dan bagaimana cara mengatasi kesulitan dalam belajar Bahasa Inggris. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif, pengumpulan data yang dilakukan dengan teknik observasi, komunikasi langasung dan tak langsung.  Alat pengumpulan data menggunakan angket, wancancara dan observasi. Penelitian ini melibatkan 1 guru dan 17 siswa. Untuk menganalisis data peneliti melakukan reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil dari penelitian ini mennyatakan keterampilan Bahasa Inggris yang sulit dipelajari oleh siswa mulai dari tingkat paling sulit meliputi; Listening (38%), Speaking (28%), Writing  (18%), dan Reading (16%). Faktor penyebab kesulitan ini, terbagi menjadi 2 yaitu faktor internal dan faktor eksternal. Faktor internal meliputi kurangnya minat dan sikap belajar siswa, intelegensi siswa, metode dan strategi guru, motivasi belajar siswa dan kesehatan siswa; faktor eksternal meliputi metode dan strategi belajar guru, lingkungan keluarga siswa dan sarana prasarana sekolah yg tidak mendukung. Upaya yang dilakukan untuk mengatasi hal tersebut dengan memahami metode dan jenis pembelajaran siswa, mengembangkan motivasi siswa, melakukan evaluasi secara berkala serta  melakukan pengayaaan dan remedial.
