Abstract

This article is an elaboration of the creation of Sirat Nan Tersirat dance which is the result of a revitalization of the cultural phenomenon of Paninggahan people who still believe in mystical matters that is known to contradict the Islamic creed, namely to ask the gods or jin by glorifying a place in Nagari Paninggahan. The purpose of this work is to express a work of dance depicting human characters entering the unseen world and to create a work of dance that reflects the human character who wants to meet his Lord (Allah SWT). The creation of this dance is inspired by the story in the origin of the Adok dance in Nagari Paninggahan when a king (Rajo Bagombak Bagalang Leg, the descendant of Pagaruyuang's king) is possessed when hearing the voice of the singing of the gods. The writing uses two approaches, namely the scienceof dance and Islamic approaches. The choreographer gives reinterpretation, i.e. not a god or jinn that enters the human realm but the man who enters the realm of the jinn. In the process of creating, it tries to reinterpret the Adok dance in accordance with the teachings of Islam and the main theme is the road to God (Sirat).

Abstract

Silat, apart from being a form of self-defence, is also a source of artistic inspiration for dance artists, including, in this case, Silek Tuo, which developed in Paninggahan, which is the “Parik Paga Nagari” (village protector). The purpose of the study was to find out and describe the meaning that existed in the Silek Tuo element, where the study included the conditions that must be fulfilled before the Silek Tuo practice, the meaning of the Silek Tuo itself from an Islamic perspective, and the meaning of the Silek Tuo movement, which would be applied in Pencak silat courses at the Dance Study Program at Jakarta State University. The method used in the research is the descriptive qualitative method, where the meaning of Silek Tuo is described in writing, with the method of collecting data using observation and interviews. The urgency of this research is to improve dance students' psychomotor affective and cognitive abilities about silat, especially the Silek Tuo. This study's results describe the conditions that must be met to learn Silek Tuo, the meaning of motion, and the correlation of Islamic law to Silek Tuo in Paninggahan

In addition to learning to dance, students at Swargaloka School of Dance also study various other fields of art, such as theater, music, visual arts, make-up and fashion. Dancing is not only about movement, but also related to character, so that speed, tempo, character, flexibility, and body strength become a unity in dance.

Abstract

Tolerance is one of the core character values that is crucial to instill from an early age, especially in multicultural societies like Indonesia. However, early childhood education (ECE) still tends to focus on cognitive and motoric aspects, while the integration of social values such as tolerance has not yet received adequate attention in the curriculum. This study aims to explore the potential of local wisdom-infused dance movements as an educational medium for instilling tolerance values in young children. The research employs a systematic literature review approach, analyzing previous studies relevant to three main variables: dance movements, local wisdom, and tolerance values in early childhood. The findings reveal that dance movements are not only beneficial for physical and aesthetic development but also serve as an effective expressive medium for fostering empathy, cooperation, and acceptance of differences. Integrating local wisdom values into dance activities can strengthen children's cultural identity and cultivate awareness of cultural diversity from an early age. Furthermore, emotional engagement and hands-on experiences in artistic activities have proven more effective in character building compared to conventional approaches. This study offers theoretical and practical contributions by formulating a local dance-based learning model explicitly aimed at reinforcing tolerance attitudes. The implications of these findings provide new directions for developing more contextual and culturally rooted ECE curricula, as well as enriching character education strategies that are engaging and meaningful for children. Thus, dance movements serve as a vital bridge in nurturing an inclusive, open-minded, and diversity-ready young generation.
