Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the density level of the mangrove ecosystem and to determine the absorption capacity of CO2 gas per hectare on the basic mangrove substrate found in the Lantebung Ecotourism Area, Makassar City. This research was conducted in July-December 2021 in the Lantebung Ecotourism Area, Makassar City. This study uses the Field Observation method to observe, measure and collect data, including primary and secondary data. Analysis of mangrove ecosystem density data and analysis of carbon uptake of mangrove substrates using the help of statistical data processing programs. Based on the results of the study, it shows that density can affect the amount of biomass, carbon stock content and CO2 absorption which has a strong relationship. The density of mangroves in plots I, II, and III (land-sea) has a higher density; The higher the density, the greater the total carbon stock and the ability to absorb CO2 gas per hectare in a mangrove ecosystem; Carbon content, carbon stock, and CO2 absorption capacity in mangrove ecosystems are higher at the surface than at depth but fluctuate up and down at each depth level.

Abstract

White Snapper (Lates Calcarifer) has a fairly complete nutritional content, is favored by the community and has high economic value. The success of white snapper cultivation is determined by the availability of feed during maintenance. This study aims to analyze the use of gold snails as a substitute for pellet feed on the growth and survival of white snapper, by feeding gold snails, pellets and a combination of both. The research took place from July to November 2021 at the Pond and Field Laboratory of FPIK, Indonesian Muslim University in Kalibone, Pangkep. The method was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 3 replications; namely Treatment A (pellets), Treatment B (conch Emas) and Treatment C (pellets and snails Emas). Parameters measured were growth rate of fish body weight and length, Specific Growth Rate (SGR), Survival, Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR). The data were analyzed using analysis of variance value (ANOVA) and further test of Least Significant Difference (LSD) was performed if the ANOVA was significant using SPSS 22 software. The results of this study showed that the treatment used had no significant effect on all parameters measured except for absolute length growth. This shows that the use of golden snails for barramundi feed can be used to substitute pellet feed which is relatively more expensive. Even in the growth parameters, the use of golden snails was better than pellet feed, although the difference in growth was not statistically significant.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine seagrass cover and carbon estimation in seagrass ecosystems on Barrang Lompo Island, South Sulawesi Province by using the quadratic transect method (perpendicular to the shoreline). The research was carried out in July-August 2022. Located on Barrang Lompo Island. Sample analysis was carried out at the Chemistry and Soil Fertility Lab, Hasanuddin University. The method used in this study for seagrass cover on Barrang Lompo Island was a quadratic transect (perpendicular to the shoreline) modified from the Seagrass Watch method. The consideration of choosing Seagrass Watch as a reference is that this method is suitable for monitoring activities carried out by the general public or volunteers because the implementers of seagrass monitoring in COREMAP - CTI activities are not only researchers or technicians in the seagrass field. The method used for sampling the substrate is purposive sampling method. Purposive sampling is a sampling technique with certain considerations. The results showed that the seagrass cover on Barrang Lompo Island was in the medium category with an average cover value of 37.05% and the total organic carbon content of the substrate contained in one area was 0.70 Ton/Ha with a total CO2 absorption on the substrate of the field. Seagrass in Barrang Lompo waters is 2.57 Ton/Ha.

Abstract

Grouper fish (P. leopardus) is one of the export commodities, where a very high fishing intensity causes overfishing. The management of catch fisheries that have been based on maximum sustainable results cannot accurately answer the problem of non-continuity comprehensively. FAO hints it needs to analyze ecological, economic, social, technological and legal-institutional factors. This research aims to determine the sustainability status of sunu grouper fish (P. leopardus) based on ecological, economic, social, fishing technology and law / institutional dimensions. These five dimensions identify sensitive attributes/factors and provide strategic and policy recommendations in support of sustainability. The study was conducted from June 2018 to September 2018, in the Spermonde Islands of South Sulawesi. The method used in this study is the survey method with the Rapfish technique. Based on Rapfish analysis and weight determination for sustainability showed that the value of the sunu grouper sustainability index in spermonde islands amounted to 32.97 (unsustainable).

Abstract

The study aims to determine the production and potential of litter nutrients of Rhizophora mucronate, as well as estimate the potential of nutrients (C, N, P and K) released into marine waters. Sampling is carried out using the transect-squared method. Mangrove litter avalanches are captured using litter traps and measured in size by filtering litter in water streams connecting mangrove forests and the sea. The potential of mangrove litter nutrient production was analyzed by conducting C, N, P and K nutrient analysis at the Hasanuddin University Chemistry laboratory. The results showed that the dominating mangrove type was R. mucronata. Pontondo mangrove conservation area produces an average litter production of R. mucronata of 3.68 gr/m2/day or 13.41 tons/ha/year of litter; And the biggest contributor is leaves. Rhizhophora mucronata litter potential nutrient production reaches 0.4529 gr-C/m2/day or 1.653 tons-C/ha/year, 0.02904 gr-N/m2/day or 0.1060 tons-N/ha/year, 0.02109 gr-P/m2/day or 0.0770 tons-P/ha/year, and 0.02603 gr-K/m2/day or 0.0950 tons-K/ha/year. Pontondo mangrove conservation forest also contributes litter to marine waters of around 560,832 gr./day of waste to marine waters, and contributes nutrients to marine waters of 69,021.96 gr-C per day; element N of 4,425, 690 gr-N/day; element P is 3,214, 116 gr-P/day and element K is 3,966.515 gr-K/day.
