Abstract

This study aims to ascertain the impact of the Jigsaw II cooperative model on learning outcomes in the course of animal physiology. The study used a one-group pretest-posttest design with a random sampling approach. Further, this study focused on the students who attended an animal physiology course during the even semester. Learning achievement tests were used to collect data on learning outcomes. Data were collected using learning achievement tests to measure student learning outcomes, and then they were analyzed descriptively, namely by mean, median, mode, variance, and standard deviation. The study's hypothesis was then verified using inferential analysis using a paired sample t-test. The results showed that the Jigsaw II cooperative learning model had a strong influence on student learning outcomes in the animal physiology course. The acquisition of a higher post-test average score, which stands at 74.96 as opposed to the pretest score of just 60.17, is indicative of these results. This study's conclusion shows that learning through the Jigsaw II cooperative model can improve the quality of learning in the cognitive domain.

Abstract

Learning models play an important role in providing opportunities for students to be actively involved in exploring and applying everyday Biology concepts. One of the effective learning models is Predict-Observe-Explain (POE), which focuses on developing students' life skills. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the POE learning model in improving Biology learning outcomes, especially in the context of the excretory system. This research is a pseudo-experimental study that focuses on the variable of students' Biology learning outcomes, applying the POE learning model. This research methodology uses Pretest-Posttest Group Design. The population of this study was all VIII grade students at MTsS Darul Istiqamah Gowa, with two classes consisting of 22 students each. The analysis results showed that the experimental class, which used the POE learning model, had better learning outcomes than the control class. This improvement can be seen in both classes' minimum, maximum, and average values. Based on the results of this analysis, it can be concluded that there is a significant increase in learning outcomes for students who apply the POE learning strategy compared to students who do not.

Abstract

Pembelajaran biologi yang mempelajari tentang makhluk hidup mempunyai daya tarik tersendiri yang menarik minat dan perhatian peserta didik saat belajar. Namun banyak siswa yang menganggap biologi adalah mata pelajaran yang sulit dan membosankan. Oleh karena itu, sangat penting bagi guru untuk berperan aktif dalam mengelola pembelajaran di kelas, mengubah persepsi siswa dan meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan hasil belajar siswa dengan menerapkan model learning cycle dalam pembelajaran IPA. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Tindakan kelas (PTK) atau Classroom Action Research. Penelitian dengan menggunakan model Learning cycle ini dilakukan sebanyak 2 Siklus yaitu Siklus I dan Siklus II dimana setip siklusnya terdiri dari 3 kali pertemuan. Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei di MTsS Darul Istiqamah Tahun Ajaran 2023/2024. Sample dalam penelitian ini adalah Siswa Kelas VIII yang terdiri dari 19 Siswa. Dalam penelitian PTK dengan menggunakan model Learning Cycle ini dilakukan beberapa Tahapan yakni Perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi atau pengamatan, evaluasi dan refleksi. Hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan dengan menerapkan Model Learning Cycle terjadi peningkatan ketuntasan belajar pada siklus I sebanyak 47,37% ke siklus II sebanyak 100%. Pada siklus I dalam implementasi model Learning Cycle dimana siswa belum mampu menerapkan konsep yang akan dipelajari dan masih kurang peduli dengan materi yang diberikan oleh Guru yang menyebabkan siswa kurang memperhatikan penjelasan dari Guru. Pada Siklus II Guru juga sudah menguasai kelas dan menyampaikan materi dengan baik sehingga hasil belajar siswa pada siklus II semuanya Tuntas.
