Abstract

Salah satu tantangan yang di era revolusi industri 4.0 adalah penguasaan Bahasa Inggris. Pada era digital seperti sekarang, secara umum platform yang digunakan berbahasa Inggris (Deswita & Niati, 2018; Hidayat, dkk., 2019; Pramudita & Anugraheni, 2017). Selain itu, berdasarkan pengalaman penulis, kualitas sumber belajar dalam berbahasa Inggris juga jauh lebih baik daripada sumber belajar dengan bahasa lain. Sumber belajar yang dimaksud terdiri dari buku referensi, video pembelajaran, bahkan sampai artikel yang berisi materi pembelajaran di internet. Secara kuantitatif perbandingan hasil pencarian “ilmu matematika” berbahasa Indonesia dan berbahasa Inggris sebesar 144.000.000 berbanding 1.420.000.000. Artinya sumber matematika dalam Bahasa Inggris sebanyak 9,86 kalinya dari sumber berbahasa Indonesia, hampir 10 kali lipat perbedaannya. Selain itu, berdasarkan pengalaman penulis terkait dengan kedalaman materi dan keragaman (artikel, video, artikel ilmiah, dll), sumber berbahasa Inggris masih lebih baik daripada sumber dalam bahasa Indonesia. Sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kemampuan siswa dalam menguasai istilah matematika dalam Bahasa Inggris, serta pemanfaatan mesin pencari Google dalam mencari informasi terkait pembelajaran matematika secara efektif, tim melakukan kegiatan pelatihan yang melibatkan Dosen serta Mahasiswa Pendidikan Matematika serta Sastra Inggris Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia (UTI). Adapun kegiatan pelatihan dilaksanakan empat hari, dengan pembagian dua hari untuk pretest dan posttest, dan dua hari untuk pelaksanaan kegiatan pelatihan. Adapun berdasarkan hasil pretest dan posttest siswa signifikan mengalami perubahan pengetahuan ke arah lebih baik. Hal tersebut ditunjukkan melalui data statistik deskriptif maupun inferensial menggunakan uji Mann-Whitney U.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbedaan hasil belajar mata kuliah Statistika Ekonomi II dengan metode terpadu (blended learning) dan daring penuh (full online). Subjek penelitian ini terdiri dari 28 mahasiswa dan 30 mahasiswa angkatan 2017 dan 2018 berturut-turut yang beraasal dari Program Studi S1 Manajemen Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia. Sebanyak 28 mahasiswa angkatan 2017 belajar dengan menggunakan metode blended learning dan 30 mahasiswa angaktan 2018 belajar dengan menggunakan metode full daring. Teknik pengolahan dan analisa data pada penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif. Pengumpulan dan analisa data kuantiatif menggunakan tes awal dan tes akhir serta pengolahan dan analisa data perbedaan dua rata-rata menggunakan uji Mann-Whitney U. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa kelompok data dengan menggunakan metode blended learning maupun dengan full online tidak menunjukan perbedaan hasil yang signifikan dengan nilai p-value atau sig. sebesar 0,803 > alpha= 0,05. Artinya proses pembelajaran full online dengan hanya mengandalkan 20% maksimal tatap muka tetap memberikan efek yang sama pada ranah kogniitf mahasiswa. Namun, tantangan pembelajaran full online justru terletak pada pencapaian kompetensi afektif dari peserta didik.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to understand the relationship between teacher and student mindsets in relation to the student’s comprehension of mathematics concepts. This study used a qualitative research type with a case study method. Participants in this study were 30 students and one teacher from one of the public junior high schools in Cianjur, Indonesia. Data sources used in this study were collected through teacher and student questionnaires, class observations, and semi-structured interviews. The class observation material was about linear function, and the learning process was carried out using the Complex Instruction (CI) approach based on growth mindset instruction. The questionnaire results show that teachers and students tend to have a fixed mindset. The fixed mindset of both the students and the teacher is particularly evident in their beliefs about the nature of math and their orientation towards student mastery and performance. The results of observations and interviews show a relationship between this mindset and student performance in class. Most students tend to show low performance in understanding linear function concepts. Based on the observations, students experienced problems in algebra thinking, had difficulty understanding mathematical concepts as a whole, and showed a lack of motivation and self-confidence. The results indicate that there is a significant relationship between the fixed mindsets of teachers and students towards students' lower performance in mathematics learning in the classroom.

Abstract

This research is a research development that aims to produce mathematics teaching materials based on Lampungnese etnomatematics. The research method consists of (1) data collection; (2) the design of teaching materials; (3) development of teaching materials; (4) validation I of teaching materials; (5) revision I of the validation results; (6) validation II; (7) revision II; (8) product trials; (9) final revision and production of teaching materials. Sampling was conducted on grade IV students at SDN 3 Kemiling Permai. The results of the validation of teaching materials from Lampung mathematicians and cultural experts gave an average score of 3.86 which was categorized as good or feasible, while the validation of teaching materials by the mathematics teacher gave an average score of 3.95 which was categorized as good or decent. In small class trials obtained an average score of student response questionnaire of 3.72 which is categorized as good or feasible. Then a large class trial obtained an average score of student response questionnaire of 3.89 which was categorized as good or feasible. The conclusion of this study is the lampungnese etnomatematics-based mathematics teaching materials are categorized as good and suitable for use in learning mathematics in elementary schools. Abstract

Effectiveness is one of the main problems in the online learning process. This becomes a benchmark for success in achieving learning objectives. Therefore, educators must be careful in choosing creative and innovative strategies both in terms of learning strategies and assessment strategies. Like the Self-Evaluation Exit Ticket assessment strategy which offers various advantages for educators and students. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of applying the Self-Evaluation Exit Ticket technique as an assessment strategy in learning. The subjects in this research were eighteen Mathematics Education students at a private higher education institution in Indonesia who took Number Theory courses online. Where, the material that will be covered in this course is the basic concept of congruence, complete residue systems, reduced residue systems, Euler's concept, and Euler's theorem. This type of research is quantitative descriptive. Based on the research results, all subjects experienced improvement while implementing the Self-Evaluation Exit Ticket assessment strategy. This increase was seen at meeting 2, namely as many as 55% of students were able to determine their learning outcomes, whereas previously at meeting 1 only 33% of students were able to determine their learning outcomes. Subjects thought that learning implemented using Self-Evaluation Exit Tickets was more fun, interesting, and encouraged subjects to continue learning. This means that the Self-Evaluation Exit Ticket assessment strategy can be effective and possible to apply in online learning.

Abstract

Linear equations and linear functions are important materials for students in developing their in-depth knowledge of arithmetic and algebra. However, there is a gap between potential development and actual development, which causes obstacles for students in understanding the concepts of these two materials. This gap results in other obstacles, including a fixed mindset in mathematics. The results of interviews with secondary school teachers in Indonesia also show that students have problems in number operations and motivation to learn mathematics. The design used in this study uses a descriptive qualitative study based on the results of literature studies, interviews with subject teachers, and the author's experience as an educator. This study also uses the theory of zone proximal development and mathematical mindset as a frame for preparing alternative material for equations and linear functions based on visual representations in mathematics. The results of this study contribute to providing alternative materials to reduce these barriers using a visual representation approach in mathematics. The author also provides alternative teaching arts to anticipate obstacles that arise when implementing mathematics material based on visual representation.

Abstract

Pada saat ini siswa sekolah berumur antara 10 – 27 tahun, artinya mereka lahir antara tahun 1995 sampai dengan 2012. Generasi tersebut bernama generasi z atau lebih umum disebut Gen-Z. Generasi ini merupakan generasi yang lahir dan tumbuh bersama internet. Generasi z memiliki karakteristik yang tidak sama dengan generasi sebelumnya, diantaranya mereka tidak suka menggunakan media tradisional, dan lebih senang menggunakan teknologi, karena generasi z berinteraksi dengan gadget dan internet selama hampir 24 jam dan 7 hari. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas proses pembelajaran dengan menggunakan sistem berbasis video dan mengetahui respons pemahaman siswa selama proses pembelajaran tersebut menggunakan lembar kerja siswa terkait materi Ekspresi Aljabar. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan cara mendeskripsikan efektivitas penerapan sistem pembelajaran berbasis video tersebut serta hasil lembar kerja siswa. Subjek penelitian ini yaitu 25 siswa SMP di Kabupaten Cianjur. Teknik analisis data pada studi ini dengan cara membandingkan hasil tes pada sistem pembelajaran berbasis video dengan nilai ketuntasan minimal di sekolah subjek. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa penerapan sistem pembelajaran berbasis video ini efektif untuk dapat diterapkan pada proses pembelajaran materi Ekspresi Aljabar, mengembalikan peran guru sebagai fasilitator, dan mampu memberikan efek positif terhadap pemahaman materi Ekspresi Aljabar siswa. Artikel ini juga menuliskan beberapa kendala dalam proses penerapan sistem pembelajaran berbasis video tersebut berdasarkan hasil pengamatan penulis selama proses pembelajaran di kelas.
