Abstract

This paper analyzes the movie Ayat tentang Cinta, which still has not received much attention from the researchers, namely from the aspect of the existence of the Qur'anic verses and traditions in it. Two core questions want to be the focus of the study, first, how does the movie Ayat tentang Cinta position the Qur'an [and hadith] as a representation of an interpretation of the Qur'an and hadith? Secondly, how is the existence of the values of the Qur'an [and hadith] in the film being one of the concourses of righteousness? This paper is a qualitative study, using content analysis and a semiotic approach. The results of this study show that in the movie Ayat tentang Cinta, it appears how the scenes displayed by the actors can show the relevant point of a movie as an interpretation of the Qur'an and Hadith, for example, the cafeteria in marriage is allegedly based on the QS. Al-Nur: 26. Secondly, in the movie Ayat tentang Cinta, many of the values of the Qur'an and Hadith in its diverse form, such as how each central figure in the movie describes the things that are relevant to the values of the Qur'an and hadith, at least through the distinctive scenes. All of this, as well as being one of the interesting facts about the construction efforts of righteousness by actors into the minds of audiences. Of course, in typical terminology.

Abstract

This paper is a netnographic study of hadith memes prohibition women from traveling without mahram on Indonesian social media. there are three main questions that are in focus: 1) how does classical literature record hadiths related to this theme? 2) how does this hadith exist in memes on Indonesian social media? 3) how did this phenomenon give birth to the amplification of Islamic doctrine? By using content analysis, this study shows: 1) the hadith in this theme is a hadith that is widely known among the Companions of the Prophet and the gatherers of the hadith, and is considered mutually reinforcing, 2) on social media, the hadith exists in various memes; besides the media factor, also the factors of its users which still carry theological aspects, 3) the massive spread of memes in this theme triggers the creation of the Islamic doctrine, and has an effect on the neglect of other more essential aspects of Islamic doctrine. This study also found that the existence of the meme hadith is a re-actualization of classical discourse that is intended as resistance to a variety of religious social phenomena that are deemed deviant, especially in relation to women's freedom in the public sphere. To this point, it must be acknowledged that the memes that are spread are methodologically problematic or irrelevant in a contemporary context. Beyond these findings, the existence of memes with different interpretations but in limited quantities and intended as a counter to memes that have been widespread will further enrich the discourse of hadith studies. Keywords: hadith, memes, netnographic study, mahram

Abstract

This study is intended to answer three main questions. First, how does the Z generation in Malang City responds to the use of hermeneutics as a method of interpreting the Qur'an by Muslim scholars? Second, how is the process of transmitting their knowledge about it? And third, how is the construction of their knowledge about the ideal interpretation of the Qur'an and can respond to socio-religious dynamics and phenomena? This study is a field study, while the primary respondents are Z generation in Malang City. The use of descriptive, hermeneutic, and intertext analysis models on data, the results of this study showed that there are differences conveyed by the Z generation of Malang City related to the use of hermeneutics as a method of interpretation of the Qur'an: some of them accept it, while others reject it. The transmission of their knowledge about hermeneutics also varies; most of them are correlated with social media, some are still conventional, which relies on information from teachers, and so on. This showed that generation Z of Malang city is not entirely averse to issues that tend to be controversial. Moreover, the authority for interpreting the Qur'an has not entirely shifted from the real world to cyberspace, no matter how dependent they are on the new media.

Abstract

Era digital membuat semua hal menjadi serba mudah, termasuk dalam hal ini kajian Islam. Arrahmah.com menjadi satu situs yang menyita perhatian publik dalam beberapa tahun ini, karena kajian-kajiannya yang massif dan memiliki warganet fanatik. Kajian keislaman mengenai al-Quran dan hadis pada situs tersebut bergerak dengan mengusung seruan kembali kepada al-Quran dan Hadis serta mengusung purifikasi dan jihad dalam konten-konten beritanya. Kajian dalam artikel ini berangkat dari dua pertanyaan berikut: Pertama, bagaimanakah trens kajian agama di dunia internet? Kedua, bagaimana model kajian Islam, khususnya di www.arrahmah.com dan bagaimana resepsi masyarakat terhadapnya? Dalam menganalisis hasil dari data yang didapatkan penulis menggunakan teori Manuel Castells yang terangkum dalam bukunya The Rise of the Network Society, terutama kaitannya dengan masalah weak ties, strong ties,dan multiple ties.

Abstract

M. Quraish Shihab in Al Maidah 51: Satu Firman Beragam Penafsiran – in addition to offering his interpretation of the meaning of awliya' – he also collected 40 interpretations tafseer scholars from their works. Given that each text is not independent and is always related to other texts, this study answered the main question: how is the influence of M. Quraish Shihab on other interpreters regarding the meaning of awliya' in Al Maidah 51: Satu Firman Beragam Penafsiran. In answering this question, the approach used was an intertextual approach As a result, it was found that the interpretation of M. Quraish Shihab related to the meaning of awliya' in Al-Maidah 51: Satu Firman Beragam Penafsiran was influenced by Ibnu ‘Āshūr, al-Ījī, Rashīd Riḍā, al-Shirāzī, al-Syawkānī, al‘Uthaymīn, Syaykh Ṭanṭawī, Syaykh al-Sha’rāwī, ‘Abd al-Qādir Shaybat al-Ḥaqq, alQāsimī, Hasbi al-Shiddīqī, al-Marāghī, al-Wāḥidī, al-Tabrisī, Wahbah al-Zuhaylī, al-Rāzī, Ibnu ‘Aṭiyyah, al-Zamakhsharī, Abū al-Sa’ūd, al-Alūsī, al-Qāsimī, Ibnu Taymiyyah, Ṭabāṭabā’ī, and al-Biqā’ī. In this case, M. Quraish Shihab's interpretation of the awliya' is in the sense of love (mawaddah), that is, just an ordinary relationship or business and the like are not automatically forbidden by Islamic doctrine, and Allah emphasizes the prohibition if what is established is a love relationship that can be hostile to Islam and wants evil for Muslims and good for opponents of Muslims.

Abstract

This article categorized as a netnographic study that refers to uploads on the TikTok platform with various kinds of discussions in the name of the prophet's Hadits or Sunnah. Therefore, the three questions proposed are: 1) how does the Hadits in the TikTok experience a change in function? 2) How efficient is TikTok in conveying the prophet’s teachings? 3) What are the motivations that trigger users to upload content based on the prophet's Hadits? By conducting the content analysis of this study, it could be conclude that: 1) the Hadits which have spread on TikTok have changed their function, which originally served as a bayan, have now become certain tools for certain purposes, 2) in that narrow space, the prophet's Hadits could not be delivered comprehensively and completely because the facilities provided by TikTok could not accommodate all explanations so that siltation appears, 3) the wide range and the availability of features that support the transaction process contribute the creation of a massive commodification process. In addition, this paper also reviews the transfiguration of pretensions which are implied in the TikTok circulation chain. Some of these things denoted that the hadits circulating on the TikTok have problems that could not be ignored.

Abstract

Patriarchal culture is still developing in our society, where women are constructed as weak creatures and are behind men. This culture is inseparable from religious doctrines, which also lead to the discourse of restricting women’s movement; in this case, the labeling of salihah is a strong enough factor that women outside the home deviate from Islamic law. Yuvid.TV conveys one of the constructions that marginalize women on its YouTube channel. Therefore, the questionn answered in this study was how to construct salihah women through Yufid.TV's interpretation of QS. An-Nisā’[4]: 34 considering that Yufid.TV in several of its shows also discussed salihah women. Then this study examined how relevant this interpretation to the contemporary context. By using Karl Mannheim's sociology of knowledge approach and descriptive-critical analysis, this study showed that Yufid.TV's understanding in interpreting QS. An-Nisā’[4]: 34 tends to be textual and seems indifferent to the social conditions of the surrounding community. So that this pious construction reflects on the patriarchal mindset, namely the effort to make women as secondary beings whose duties are limited to domestic affairs only. In fact, in the contemporary social context, the discourse of women's equality has been widely expressed. Where many women have succeeded in proving that their existence is worthy of consideration

Abstract

Abstract: This research is motivated by many scholars who challenge NU, which is considered a moderate Islamic organization, and the meanings of the word moderate vary. On the other hand, moderate Islam is a solution to many students' radical thoughts and terror. By taking Unisma as the research object, this article focuses on two topics: NU students' interpretation of moderate Islam and the factors that influence this interpretation. This article is qualitative research using in-depth interviews with 12 students with various study program characteristics. The findings obtained from this study are, first, NU students interpret moderate Islam with three models: teachings, nation and state, and relations with modernity. These three understandings are separate from NU's moderate principles. Most NU students accept moderate Islamic terminology, but a small number of them reject it. Second, the moderatism of NU students is influenced by many factors, including family background, education, social media, environment, and association. Furthermore, this study accepts that moderatism in NU is not on the same line but also rejects research suggesting that NU students tend to be radical and intolerant. And association. Abstrak: Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh banyak sarjana yang memberikan tantangan pada NU yang dianggap sebagai organisasi Islam moderat dan pemaknaan terhadap kata moderat yang bervariasi. Di sisi lain, Islam moderat merupakan solusi atas pemikiran radikal dan teror yang banyak dimiliki oleh mahasiswa. Dengan mengambil Unisma sebagai objek penelitian, artikel ini fokus pada dua topik, yakni interpretasi mahasiswa NU terhadap Islam moderat dan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi interpretasi tersebut. Artikel ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan metode wawancara mendalam kepada 12 mahasiswa dengan karakter program studi yang bervariasi.
